I ordered three different tacos(chorizo and potato, carnitas, clams and lardo). I tried the chorizo and potato taco first which was really good. The potato was soft, but the potato skin was crispy as if it had been fried separately. It added a great crunchy texture to the taco. The carnitas was next. This was a classic carnitas taco with guacamole and salsa verde. Can’t go wrong with this classic. The carnitas were delicious. I had the clam taco last. I wasn’t a big fan. I thought it was a little bland. The chocoflan with the oranges was very good as well.

Pretty legit. We ordered Shrimp tacos $ 12 and the Campechana Verde $ 16, along with a side of Plantains $ 7 and some«Rice and Beans» $ 6. The shrimp tacos come heaped with slaw and guac on a purple corn tortilla and are on the spicy side. It doesn’t hit you right away but it creeps up on you, quietly itself on the tail end of your bite. No complaints! It’s very good. The campechana verde is ceviche-ish but more of a seafood cocktail salad. The squid pieces were a tad rubbery for my taste and overall the dish is very cucumber-heavy but it tasted super bright and acidic and I’d get it again. I was wary of the«rice and beans» because I don’t like rice or beans but these«rice and beans» are not your usual rice and beans, hence the quotation marks. They’re almost like Corn Nuts: burnt crisp rice bits with crunchy fried chick peas and a dust of cotija cheese and big chile chunks. They come in a little French fry-esque packet. I had to admit they were pretty tasty. The plantains have a little too much crema and cotija so altogether it’s very mushy and sweet and sour. I wasn’t crazy about them. I also thought the much-lauded Churros $ 7 were a letdown. The mini churros are light and fluffy but too much so. The insides almost tasted like they had cream in them but I think it was actually uncooked(or rather undercooked) batter. The churros aren’t sprinkled in sugar and I missed that, although the side of chocolate is fine. I should have gone for the Tres Leches Cake. Overall the food was solid and around the right price point. I would totally come here again *thumbs up emoji*

BS Taqueria, hmm they pretty much sum it up with their name. It’s Bullshit Tacos. These tacos are so white washed, they managed to remove the essence of tacos. Not sure how they attract so many customers, probably the location. Won’t be back for tacos that’s for sure, maybe for a margarita.

I had to try B.S. Taqueria twice before I wrote a Unilocal review. My first experience was for dinner which was subpar. I had the carne asada. Carne asada came less than medium rare which I didn’t care for. It came with a squash, zucchini medley which I didn’t care for and tortillas. We also had a cucumber salad which was a bit plain. The second time I came here I tried the chorizo and papas tacos which I enjoyed. A little greasy but good. The potato mixed with the chorizo over a blue corn tortilla didn’t make this taco too salty. Chorizo tends to be overly salty at times. I also ordered the lemon peper chicken chicharrones. It’s crispy chicken skins will pieces of fried chicken thighs, and shishito. Definitely a dish you should try unless you have heart problems. Definitely a heart clogger. Glad I came here again to try the rest of the menu. Service here is good and welcoming.

I have both Broken Spanish and BS Taqueria bookmarked on Unilocal and I follow both on Instagram so I was super excited to finally try this place. I dragged out 3 girlfriends so we could try more items on the menu as a team. We all enjoyed the food so much and now I’m even more excited about going to Broken Spanish. Here’s what I ordered: 1. clams and lardo tacos — One word. AMAZING. Unless you’re allergic to shellfish, you’ll love this. 2. chicken chicharrones — It’s similar to «popcorn chicken» except 100x better, especially the fried chicken skin pieces. 3. rice and beans — Not what you would expect from a rice and beans dish and definitely worth a try. It’s more bean focused. 4. chorizo and papas tacos — The chorizo is so good and the texture of the potatoes is soft. I really enjoyed this, but it can’t compare to the clams and lardo tacos. 5. plantains — This is a side item so we almost overlooked it, but I’m glad we ordered it. The plantains are naturally sweet, but the aoili on top of it was so savory and garlicky, the overall sweet/savory combo was devine. 6. campechana verde — A ceviche dish with assorted seafood(shrimp, scallops, white fish) that comes with chips on the side. It’s one of the pricier items on the menu, but the quantity is huge. It comes out in a large margarita glass filled with plenty of seafood and avocado. 7. cauliflower al pastor — I love cauliflower, but the flavoring didn’t do it for me. Everyone on Unilocal raved about it so I had to try it, but I wouldn’t order it again. We barely touched this one. 8. churros — Can’t leave without some dessert, but I was very disappointed. The churros were way too soft! I was expecting a crunchier/denser texture, but it tasted like uncooked batter on the inside. I wish I had ordered the tres leches cake instead!

My favorite part about visiting this place for a second time was running into a semi pretty blonde chick walking away from the restaurant with a crazed look on her face literally screaming into her cell phone to a dude(I assume) «I’M THEBESTTHINGYOU’LLEVERFIND!!!» Somehow I think the dude on the other end of that phone dodged a bullet of sorts. Just sayin’ Anyways, just like that chick thought of herself… this place is awesome. CHIPOTLEGARLICSPARERIBS Fall off the bone tender and just jam packed with chipotle garlic flavor all up in that meat. damn. MUSHROOMSANDGARLIC As far as meatless tacos go… this was pretty good, needed a bit more garlic. CARNITAS Excellent pork, great salsa. CHORIZOANDPAPAS Tasted like a fancy breakfast in a tortilla. CALABACITAS Another shockingly good meatless option. Recommend to any of my crazy beautiful vegetarian Unilocal buds. CHILEANDFRUIT Spicy, tasty. CHURROS Churros so good you may consider dumping your insane girlfriend over the phone for ‘em.

Truly as good as it gets. I don’t know what is wrong with LA, but tacos here are just NOT good. Even all the hype places that people love like Guisados and El Chato food truck are just medium good at best. B.S. Taqueria is PHENOMENAL. Best tortilla texture, taste, and is freshly made. High quality meat, juicy, delicious.(Taco places tend to use pretty crappy meat all across the board). The flavors are bold. The ratios of sauce to meat to tortilla are on point. The only place that would rival B.S. Taqueria for the spot in my heart of Favorite Taco Shop would be Tacos El Gordo in San Diego(though Tacos El Gordo is way cheaper and is a completely different kind of taco altogether). I swear by the following items at B.S. Taqueria: — Shrimp Taco — Lengua Taco — Churros THECHURROSARECRAZYGOOD! Sooooo soft with excellent crisp texture. I don’t come here for the churros, but am obligated to get them every time. I also like the carne asada tacos, the chorizo tacos, and pretty much their ENTIRE menu! NOTE: — Tacos are randomly all pretty spicy without warning, so be careful if you don’t like spicy. BOTTOMLINE: — This is the only place where I am happy to pay $ 5+ per taco. I have been to maybe 20 tacos spots, and these are the best tacos in Los Angeles. If I worshiped tacos, then B.S. Taqueria would be my shrine.

OMG. My tastebuds fell in love at first bite. Chicken chicharrones with peppers is amazing. Carne Asada with chorizo was delicious. The heavenly cloud churros sealed the deal. This is a no BS. Food this good comes can be a bit pricey but well worth it.

Great decorations and environment so once you walk in it puts you in a good mood. The waiters and cashier were super helpful and nicely dressed. I ordered the cauliflower Al pastor which is vegan. The food was great with just the amount of sourness and I enjoyed the pineapple in there the most which made the dish sweet and sour balancing well. Also my friends all loved the tacos here. they said the churros were delicious too. Wow the taco wrap was yummy. It was a bit sweet at the time a bit salty. I believe this place is pretty vegan friendly and would definitely recommend this place.

WOW! Right off the bat I just have to praise their décor, absolutely stunning! Obviously being a mexican restaurant they have to have traditional mexican furniture. But it was so traditional it made me feel at home, these are items my grandmas had up on the wall and in the living room, job well done! Parking: well it’s LA you’re going to walk regardless, we parked a block down. Not a big deal for me. TIP: I would recommend making a reservation on OpenTable if you’d like to get seated immediately. I kinda came unprepared, no biggie. We came in on a Saturday night; my sister, myself, and my cousin and we had to wait about 45 minutes but it was a wait well worth it. The friendly staff greeted us with positive energy and smiles that reflect that of a traditional mexican home when your Tia’s and Tio’s welcome you. DING1POINT. Upon being seated we ordered drinks rather quickly and got a small appetizer, the Lemon Pepper Chicharrones which are good but not worth it, well worth a try though! The menu had all kinds of goodies it was tough to pick just one item so I didn’t. Instead I ordered 3 things! Carne Asada, Carnitas tacos, and chorizo con papas tacos. The Carne Asada was laid out on a beautiful savory bed of potato hash that was both spicy and flavorful in one punch! DING3POINTS. The meat was cooked medium and was super tender and juicy, it made me fall in love after first bite. NOTE: portion is really small so if paying 15 dollars for this is an issue, I’d recommend not getting it. The tacos were a beast of their own! With the chorizo and papas being the highlight of the night, try it for yourself!

We came here for our girl Marisol’s B-Day lunch. Parking downtown can be quite a pain but we somehow manage to get a spot on the street. The restaurant is quite small in the old Mo-Chica location. It’s very casual. You order at the counter and grab a table. I had the Chorizo & Papas Tacos and made it a combo w/green salad and a fresco. It was delicious. I had a bite of Sandra’s Beet Torta and although I’m not a vegetarian I really enjoyed it. I also had a bite of Marisol’s Carne Asada and it was great. For dessert we had the Tres Leches Cake and Churros. Wow! I can’t wait to come back for dinner with the hubby.

Hard not to love this place. From the margaritas to the campechana, everything just works. Don’t even get me started on the décor. The back part of the restaurant was magnifico. We had some drinks, lengua tacos, carnitas, masa ball soup(not a typo), and campechana verde. The latter knocked my calcetines off. It was a brilliant cup filled with squid, scallops, snapper(ay!), cucumbers, shrimp, octopus, tomatillos, and tostadas. Get your nalgas here asap and enjoy some great food and drinks.

If you are looking for something that overwhelms your taste buds, come to B.S. Taqueria. I came in with my coworkers for lunch. My first impression was how interesting the décor was. You need to go and see it for yourself. I ordered their chorizo & papas tacos. It comes with a purple corn tortilla which is slightly sweeter than a regular corn tortilla. There is a slice of fried cheese between the tortilla and meat which acts as a moisture barrier so the tortilla doesn’t get soggy from the oil and meat juices. Freaking genius! The chorizo was top notch. Had a butt load of flavor with a spicy kick. Definitely will be coming back more often. Don’t forget to check their happy hour!

Best tacos in Los Angeles. So, so, good. And that’s no B.S. I had the papas and chorizo. My husband had the cactus and hibiscus. We greatly enjoyed the lime-pepper chicken chicharrones. I was astounded by the depth of flavor with each bite. They apparently make the chorizo in-house. Super spicy, but in the right way. My only suggestion would be to order something mild, like the plantains to go with your meal, and cool your palate between the spicy delicious bites. Another big plus of this place was how attentive and friendly the staff and servers were. Really a great experience-and extraordinary food. Olé!

Came here for dinner with friends. We ordered an appetizer, a variety of tacos, the carne asada and the pork chile verde. Be warned that the food and even the drinks are a little spicy!!! For our appetizer we ordered the lemon pepper chicken chicharrones. Everybody at the table seemed to like it, but I am not a big fan of fried skin. Did go great with our tequila drinks. haha We ordered the cactus($ 8), shrimp($ 12), and lengua($ 9) tacos. Everything was good except the cactus. :(so flavor and a little slimy. The meat on the carne asada($ 15) was a little chewy, fatty, and flavorless. However, the sauce underneath really flavored up the dish. Our favorite dish of the night was the pork chile verde($ 17). Fall of the bone tender pork flavored with intensity. YUM! Highly recommend. The portions were a little small so we ordered the tres leches cake($ 9) and churros($ 7) for dessert. The dessert ended up being the best part of the meal! The churros were melt in your mouth! It didn’t even seem like bread — more like clouds. MUSTTRY. The tres leeches was decadent and moist. Both highly recommended. Street parking only! Service was a little difficult with so many servers serving you… Loved the back seating area with all the wall paining and leaves hanging off the ceiling. Great place for birthday group dinners as well as romantic dates.

Where do I start with B.S. Taqueria? This is just one of the latest installments in the gourmet taco scene that has been permeating the city in recent years. It’s a good one though… So I’ll start with the appetizer, since that is usually what arrives to the table first. We chose the«Rice and Beans», and let me tell you, I don’t think you’ll find rice and beans like these anywhere else you go, except maybe their sister restaurant. They took a different approach with this traditional side pairing. Whereas you’ll usually expect to find rice and beans with your platter, here the approach is to offer them as a light snack all-together. So you get toasted rice, garbanzos, beans, cotija cheese, and Fresno chilies all mixed and seasoned in a small bag. I can’t tell you how great this appetizer was. The citrus from the lime, the seasonings, and the char all worked together to make an intense mix of flavors. You gotta get it! As for the tacos, you can find great tacos almost all over LA, but if you’re here, you’re here! The taco list is simple, with your basic meats: chorizo con papa, carnitas, chicken, shrimp, cactus & hibiscus(maybe not so basic), and lengua. You get two tacos of whatever meat you choose for the price advertised, so no mixing and matching. That’s the only downside. If variety is what you want then you gotta break off with that cash, but I wasn’t in the mood for a heavy meal so I was good. That’s the only downside. I got the chorizo con papa and my girlfriend had the chicken tacos. Can’t speak much on the chicken since I only had a bite, but I can tell you the chicken was moist and well marinated. The chorizo con papa tacos, on another level though. You get these whole little potatoes with prime quality chorizo over a bed of melted cheese. Ay caray! hasta se me hace agua la boca. Yea I did like them that much. In a way I was content with the no mixing and matching policy because it makes you appreciate one set of flavors, and leaves you curious to see what the other tacos would taste like. Can’t have tacos without a drink, and I’m happy to inform that they have their bases covered. They offer a mezqual list for those who would like to sample something a little more ardor and robustness. I wasn’t in the mood to get lit that night so I opted for their house michelada, which wasn’t that great by the way. My girlfriend on the other hand was in the mood for a little head change, so she got one of the lesser priced ones on the list. It was affordable and effective, so I’d say good purchase. Overall, it’s a cool place. Very lively, colorful, trendy, and slightly intimate — depending on where you sit. We got a seat at the back end of the house, and I was delighted to dine under a canopy-like ensemble of artificial shrub. I would absolutely like to come back.

For apps we got rice and beans, and chicken chicharones. We then got shrimp tacos, carnitas, and the beet sandwich. Husband got the milked tequila drink and I got the bourbon and egg white drink. Everything was great. The rice and beans are a must have on your visit. Lots of vegetarian options available. Carnitas have chorizo layered underneath. However, if you can’t handle spicy food this place may be hard for you to find a dish. I have built up my tolerance for spice over the years, but had I not it would have been hard to find a plate. The menu does not indicate what is or isn’t spicy.

Heard about this place having one of the best churros in town, so we decided to come here after having a fantastic dinner at Kinjiro. Once in we were greeted with a smile and was seated right away. We got lucky because the restaurant was busy. SERVICE: The service was excellent and attentive. FOOD:(Note we were supposed to be here just for the churros, but end up ordering this as well) Duritos: Puff wheat crackers, chile and lime. This brings me back when I use to live in LA, and going out to Santa Monica and Western at the corner buying this from old lady from her cart. Grilled Corn: This was also good, but for $ 8 I say pass on it. Clams and Lardo: «OMG«This was damn good. Just like heaven. I could of eaten about 10 of these. Highly recommended. Finally the reason we came here for. Churros. Hands down the best churros I have ever had. It was so light and airy and still had that nice crispy texture to it. Awesome. All in all what a great place.

It’s my birthday week. I treated myself. Chorizo & Papas tacos, Durritos, Jamaica agua fresca, and churros for about $ 20. The tacos were good as well. Surprisingly filling since I’m used to getting 3 or 4 street tacos. If I had to pick something a taco I’d probably get those again. Though if we’re being honest here, I’ll probably just go back for the churros. Hot damn, those are some good churros.

Los Angeles is probably one of the cities in the United States that tacquerias(taco shops) outnumber Starbucks, just maybe. There’s enough that the choices can be overwhelming or underwhelming, depending on who you talk to. Then here comes an «upscale» type place that sells tacos. I do like the upscale/relaxed vibe of this place, without charging their patrons the«upscale» pricing(to me at least). For an appetizer, I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken Chicharrones + Fried Clams and Shishito peppers. The Chicharrones and fried clams were nicely crisp and the lemon pepper and Shishito peppers add to the flavors and it’s a nice«wake up» to the senses without assaulting you. I then ordered the Clam and Lardo tacos(2 tacos per order) for my main appetizer. The Clam and Lardo works and was quite surprised that the clams didn’t have the typical rubber band texture to them and the lardo complements the clams perfectly and just melts with each bite. I didn’t want to douse the tacos and ruin the flavors, so I left them without adding any. The watermelon agua frescha was really refreshing without being too overly sweet. The wait staff and I believe owner were always on point when they saw that we needed things and didn’t leave us for too long for own devices(phones, heh). I have to come back and try their other tacos to fully round out my review, until then, stay hungry my friends.
