Ball clay studio is awesome! I took Mike Flower’s wheel throwing class, I learned a lot and had a lovely time. The studio is very organized and clean, with lots of wheels, table space for hand building, and a nice variety of glazes. Take a class and fall in love with this neighborhood gem.

I just have to leave this review to negate that completely idiotic 1-​star review left by Michelle L., who never even entered the building. I hate Unilocal sometimes. Anyway, this studio is AWESOME. I took a class with Mike who was an excellent, upbeat and patient teacher. This is a perfect place for absolute beginners to learn the basics. Your class fee also includes clay, tools and studio hours. Ball Clay Studio hosts a community of friendly potters of all skill levels. If you work behind a computer all day, working with your hands is a godsend. I highly recommend it.

I took my first ceramics class here a couple of months ago and loved it. The class size was small so we could ask a zillion questions and have them patiently answered by Dave. Included in the price of the class is open studio time, which is awesome, considering that my work schedule is very erratic; I could come and go as I liked.
I ended up taking home a half dozen finished projects and its a really good feeling to have made something start to finish and to have received the instruction necessary to do that. I’m definitely taking another class here.

I had so much fun in the ceramics class! David is a great and helpful instructor. The studio has a friendly atmosphere and is awesome space to be creative and inspired.

If you are looking to learn to throw for the first time, or get back into ceramics after a long sabbatical, I would recommend this studio. David recognizes that everyone learns differently and advances at their own pace and encourages that while still teaching basic techniques that everyone can use. He’ll help you when you need it but also let you learn on your own.

Awesome clay studio school. I went to there for their grand opening. They offered free ceramic and pottery classes that day. I liked it so much I took them up on the firing membership deal. Soon I’ll be making sculptures that will equal those of Leanardo De Vinci or De Caprio. I am learning firing and glazing, using the wheel and having tons of fun.
