You honestly haven’t really experienced food until you have tried Benhaim’s cuisine. It’s more than just good food. It’s a beautiful chemistry between color and flavor. His presentation is nothing less than amazing. You’ll taste new things you’ve never heard of and love them as well. It makes you look at food and dining in a whole new way. His instagram is great if you want to see how much care, effort and planning goes into all his food. Try it. You owe it to yourself!

Because the Wind is a pop-up dinner club inside an inconsequential-seeming industrial building on the outskirts of the DTLA Fashion District. Once you step inside you know you are in for a special night. Before dinner, fashionable guests mill around sharing their favorite bottles(the dinners are BYOB) or congregate on the roof to smoke and take in the downtown skyline. Dinner is announced and everyone gathers at a large beautiful reclaimed wood formal dining table built by Chef Benhaim himself and decorated with moss, smooth river rocks and candles. 7 courses are usually served, often including 2 desert courses, each lovingly plated and explained. I refuse to gush, but Daniel’s food has consistently brought me to tears. That«Ratatouille moment» where something seems so new and yet so familiar at the same time. The nostalgia of perfectly balanced flavors. His dishes are complex yet rustic, beautiful but unfussy. Do yourself a solid and just go.

I’ve been to a few Because the Wind dinners and the experience from start to finish is always perfect. The chef offers a full pop-up experience like no other I’ve been to. He caters to dietary restrictions and has an incredible menu every time we dine. I love his vegan and vegetarian creations! His plating is gorgeous and food is always spectacular. The great thing about his dishes is that you can’t find them on other menus around town. The large family style table gives the diners the opportunity to connect with fellow foodies and it really adds to the experience. Can’t wait for the next dinner!
