Beyond Lite

My husband found this place on Unilocal and thought we’d give it a try. As we got to this place, the sign on the door said it would be open at 1pm. We got there at around 12:50 and waited. A few minutes later, the manager of the building approached up and asked us if we knew the lady that owned the place. We said no, and he told us that the lady has only been here twice in the past 5 months. So this place isn’t even open for business anymore. Pretty bummed.

I LOVE CANDLES! I just discovered this great «small business» on Small Business Saturday! The owner, Maria, has a great selection of hand poured candles. She uses palm wax and soy wax which are great for the environment! She even mixes her own scents so they aren’t the same cookie cutter ones you can find anywhere.
So she told me that she just re-​launched this business which will focus on «refilling» or «re-​purposing» your already existing candle «vessels». Personally I like the idea b/​c lord knows how much I’ve paid for a candle with a really pretty jar… and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Now I can just stop by and have her make a new candle out of the vessel I already love! You get to choose your scent and type of wax. What a cool concept!
If you’re not looking to refill, but to simply purchase some pretty candles, she has plenty of pre-​made candles of all sizes, colors, and scents in stock. I ended up leaving with a great assortment of pre-​made candles (that are 50−75% off… whoo hoo!!) and will be back with 2 vessels that are on their last legs of wax so she can fill them for me!
FYI — this business is located in a factory loft building (loft living above, business studios below) and you need to be «buzzed» in. The buzzer isn’t working so you call the number on the door and Maria will come and get you. It’s like VIP treatment, she comes and walks you down to her studio. Parking is on the street and she even has a Tarot card reader that shares the studio space with her. So while you’re picking up candles, you can also pay to have your cards read (Tarot by Tamar).
There are other businesses here too. Apparently next weekend they are having a huge Open Studio/​Sale with 20 businesses participating. One stop shopping for next weekend (¹¹⁄₃₀ — 12/1)…I can’t wait! She says she will post something on Facebook about (
