Love this place. It’s an old school Hollywood, beatnick style coffee house. Yes they do have AA meetings here, so what, most of the people at those meetings are very successful people who have done well in Hollywood and other business’s. There are A list and B list actors and writers in there every day and they can afford to go anywehre. So don’t be put off by the other reviewers saying there are sketchy people hanging out there, it’s not like the sketchy people you see in front of Amoeba. Martine and his family do there best to run a clean business with healthy food that is very reasonably priced. It’s run by a very nice family. If you are from New York, Portland, San Francisco etc you will probably appreciate this place and know that you could do a lot worse.

This place is a gem. I totally fell in love with the inside of their café! So cool! Living in Hollywood all my life, this is truly so awesome. As a student, I love the prices and the sizes! Pretty fair prices for what you get. People nowadays expect a Beverly Hills hotel style café and do not realize how amazing this place is. Warm vibes, cozy place, good food, and coffee! Plus they have AA meetings which is so nice!

I really WANT to like this place. The food is good, the drinks are good, the staff is very polite, it’s a cute dive-y kind of atmosphere… But man, when those AA meetings roll in, the meeting organizers WILL ask you to give up your seat and leave if they need every single one of the precious few chairs inside. That’s more than a little off-putting when I’m a paying customer. It’s fine and cool that Bliss lets them use the space, but it’s not really very fair to the other customers to be asked to suddenly leave whenever someone starts plopping down 12 step program pamphlets. Overall, it’s a great place to stop in and pickup something tasty(their ‘Vampire’ beet juices are really great!), but not such a great place to hang around and sit for a while.

This place sucks. Went there around 5pm on a Friday evening only to find no seating room because some style of AA meeting or something was going on. Ok, we will sit outside. However, all the staff must be in recovery because no one came out to see if we wanted anything(menu, drink) nada! About 15 minutes later, when the meeting wrapped, a bunch of the addicts came out and stood next to our table sucking their butts(cigarettes). 1 girl even pulled out 1 of our chairs and dropped all her crap at our table. Purse backpack cigarettes etc. So, we went inside and noticed the place to be kinda cute. Anyway, we check the sandwich and crêpe menu and make out decision. We go to the counter and show our groupon deal. He says it’s only good for crepes but the deal clearly says sandwiches. I won’t deny it said no drinks. He says it was a groupon error. However, I show him the Q&A section where THEIR mngr says the deal is for sandwiches and/or crepes. Beside, who would buy a deal for $ 18 worth of crepes? He said I don’t care what your phone says, the voucher is no good. Blood boils, thought of aggression and then said F it a went to another new place called«eat well». The waiter was soft but the food was great.

Great lil dive coffee/café. Good place to run in and out for a fresh juice. Martin helped me, he was very nice and suggested ginger in my juice, delish! FYI — They hold AA meetings there, so might be a bit crowded during those times.

How weird, charming, and confusing! We stopped by to grab some coffee before Doomie’s opened and encountered a divey pub like ambience with mexican rap, Mexican folk art alongside a picture of Einstein, and cigarettes for sale. I like being kept on my toes so I wasn’t deterred, but rather intrigued. There was a weird crowd of chain smoking dudes that looked liked they belonged in AA, which they did according to other reviews. I dug it overall, granted, I didn’t eat or drink anything(but my parents enjoyed their espressos and my husband loved his caramel sugar bomb). I liked the beat up feel of the place, the chairs with carvings of coffee cups, and the sheer lack of theme in terms of décor. I’m still lost as to what it actually is(coffee house, restaurant, juice bar?), but whatever it is, it’s cool.

Bliss Art House Café is, in one word, grim. The café located is located at the front of Villa Elaine apartments, which in itself is one of the last bastions of amazing and historically important artist communities in Hollywood. These apartment buildings are incredibly beautiful and full of history. Artists keep up the gardening and upkeep of Villa Elaine(in the courtyard behind the coffee shop). Walking through the apartment courtyard(if the front gate is not locked), you see sculptures, amazing gardens and murals. It is truly the last remnants of a bohemian Silver Lake or Echo Park in Hollywood. The abstract and dadaist photographer Man Ray most famously lived in this building in the 1940s. And then once you exit the gate and there is this lonely troll of a café, with its dim and almost worn up façade. The café is truly dark. The furniture is oversized and takes up the entire space. The people here look like that not only they come here to suffer but are invited to join in on the suffering. Like if I ever just found out I got a terminal illness, the mood of this café is exactly what I’d want to surround myself in. This place smells like history is in the front seat and the coffee tastes like it too.

I got a Groupon for Bliss Art House Café. I like crepes and i couldn’t wait to get some. First of all it wasn’t easy to find this place. When i finally found it, it was dark and it looks like a cheap dive bar and not the nice picture that groupon advertise. I wouldn’t have gone in there, if i didn’t had a groupon. The place felt dirty, dark and dusty. They had all kinds of stuff hanging on the walls, selling all kinds of other stuff like cigarettes etc. My only thought was, get the crepes and then get out of there. I choose the Nutella, strawberries and the 3 D crepes. I got my crepes. They charge me $ 1 extra to TAKETHEMOUT. Then instead of Banana’s i wanted Strawberries on my crepes. They charge me $ 0.75 additional to swap banana’s for Strawberries. It took them 10 mins to get my order ready. The crepes wasn’t good. I wasn’t happy. It was very, very greasy and it didn’t taste good. I felt, i was eating fat. I ate ½ of the 3D crepes and trow the other crêpe half away. I couldn’t eat it. Will not go back.

I would love to give this place a good review but I just can’t. Here’s a quick rundown of the things wrong with this place: — First and foremost the food — the crepes were not good. Yes I liked the bananas and the nutella but the actual crepes should be light not heavy like pancakes. — Storefront Hours — closes at 7 pm. 7PM! Really?! — Dark and dirty feel — don’t get me wrong, I love good whole-in-the-wall type places but this one just felt too dingy for me. — Sketchy people out front — I know they have AA meetings and I commend them for that. However I was a single girl walking in and was totally skeeved out by the chain smoking guys out front. — Smell of smoke — sorry but I’m super sensitive to it. Sorry Bliss Art House Café — while you have nice people working behind the counter, the one positive does not compensate for the all the negative.

If you get a savory crêpe, I recommend getting it without the meat. The taste would have been above average had it not been for the overpowering taste of processed turkey!

This place is pretty good. I love the dulche de leche crêpe and the turkey wrap. They also hold AA meetings which surprised me when I walked in. Good job tho. Sitting outside wasn’t so bad. It was cool in the shade and I don’t mind the noise of city traffic.

I kept hearing about the good food at Bliss Art House Café and it’s near my house so I decided to give it a try. As I walked up to it, I’m thinking it looks a bit sketchy but I know some of the best places are holes in the walls, so I walked in. I ordered a strawberry and chocolate crêpe which was delicious. I also tried their gelato. It was amazing. Some of the best gelato I’ve ever had(and I’ve had authentic gelato in Italy)! It was smooth and creamy. I sampled the strawberry, pistachio and chocolate flavors. I couldn’t make up my mind between the strawberry and pistachio, but the prices here are so reasonable I was able to get both! Also the employees here are really friendly and personable. This café is definitely a neighborhood gem.

Bliss Art House Café hosts daily AA meetings so don’t be frightened when you walk into a crowd of people. Just make your way to the counter and order your food & drinks. I came here with my GroupOn and ordered crepes and a smoothie. The crepes were thick and bland. I couldn’t believe that they could call these crepes with the way they tasted. The smoothie was so-so and tasted too artificial. Would I come here again? Certainly not! On the bright side, the workers there were super nice.

a 4 star average? Really? What are you comparing it to-a Tuscon bomb shelter with a wine list? This café is like an airport market-it has EVERYTHING. It has iced coffee, brewed coffee, snuggie, flood insurance, etc. The overall theme seems to be, «whatever we can find at a yard sale and beat into the walls with used screws and the back side of a beer bottle. The food? No idea? The menu makes no sense. They have the most awkward selection of food I’ve ever seen. Rice and Chicken, burrito and yogurt, PBJ and a Menthol light 100 with the lighter that If you hold it long enough the lady’s shirt disappears. If I haven’t convinced you yet-here goes nothing. This place has AA meetings every two hours 5 days a week. So, literally, every time I’ve gone in there I’ve heard stories about how my life was ruined by drinking and binging and debauchery, and that was just from my date. Have fun. Good luck. I recommend the #3– peach cobbler and Minced bleach.

If you don’t mind(or are specifically seeking) a somewhat dingy bar feel to your hole-in-the-wall coffee house, this place fits well. Find street parking in the neighborhoods across the street, and come in for a free(purchase encouraged) and very open open mic night(i.e., mostly amateur talent running the spectrum from«surprisingly good for a place with no cover» to «let’s leave») – one of the best being the host, Lawrence. I read that the pastries were cheap and not stale, but tried out a sandwich instead. It was called the James Dean and had some cooked salami with cheese and some fixin’s. Although quite thin like a Subway sandwich(and messy), it was pretty darn flavorful and a modest $ 5.50. Of note, my strange neighbor had what looked like a wonderful crêpe you would find at a fancy brunch venue; based on aesthetics and size, I think those are great choices as well($ 5.95). Only 4 stars overall because of the mixed talent of the(free) comedy and the rock hard chairs! Bottom line: This is a cool little place for a dressed-down, low cost night out or just a quick stop for lunch, dinner, a snack, a ginger juice(!) or coffee, or an AA meeting. Yes, they have AA meetings listed on the back of their menu. Nourishment from all angles… Since they don’t have a website, here’s what the menu says: Comedy nights five nights a week(7−10pm)! And, AA meetings are every day. Prices start at $ 1.65 for a coffee and run up to $ 5.95 for a crêpe.
