Cabin West

I followed Cabin West stylist Lauren Palmer Smith from Brooklyn NY to Venice when I moved here last August. I’ve been her client for five years and her work is flawless. She’s also a great spirit, and easy to talk to, the time flies in the chair.
Cabin West is a charming change from the usual saloon. Features various gift items, art books, cards, etc. So if you are on your way to a party, you can pick up something after your cut.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have to leave a review once you see my pictures, but I’m going to anyways because SKYLANA did a ridiculously spectacular job! I went in not totally knowing what I wanted, and describing like 50,000 different looks I liked. After I showed her a few pictures we decided to go platinum with a violet hombre. She went out of her way to come up with a totally unique look, which is what I wanted. I kid you not I got at least 10 compliments within the hour of leaving the salon. Speaking of the salon it’s adorable. Lots of different things to look at while you wait, refreshments, and even the sweet shop tail-​wagger Sadie. I question like everything, so thank you Skylana and Mo for being so helpful and patient in answering my 1000 questions. I can assure you if you are looking for a color skylana is your girl. Also since it does take a while to do such a specific look I got to enjoy watching Kristen work. Kristen seemed to be an amazing stylist as well, but she specializes in cuts. Thanks y’all you will for sure see me soon.

Loved my visit to cabin west. What a cute little spot and relaxing place to get your hair done. Gabby cut my hair and gave my natural blonde a little pop. She really gets the natural beachy look! I love what she did and can’t wait to go back.

Gabby! Gabby! Gabby! She gets the ombré/​beachy look and completely masters it! If you want beautiful blonde highlights go to her. And her cut is equally as amazing, just tell her exactly what you want and she will do it. I am so happy with my hair, and I get compliments everyday! Thanks gabby! You rock :))
Also, the owner and her sweet pup and the receptionist/​assistant are so nice! The store front is adorable and has all these cute books and jewelry. Im obsessed, go visit you won’t be disappointed.

Nick is the man. Very cool and really easy to set up an appointment. I had my hair cut by Gabby and she did a fantastic job. I walked out with exactly what I wanted. Take a chance. You won’t be disappointed here. I will be coming back for sure.

Pretty sure Cabin West is French for «hella legit» but I could be wrong — whatever it means it’s got that je né sais quoi. Anyways, place is swag AF, kinda Jenk but in an endearing «I’m artistic and can just throw good shit together so fuck it» kind of way. Regardless, I’m always suspect of places that look too nice — I’d rather my money go towards skill and new tattoos than designer furniture and some angel investor’s daughter’s super sweet 16 party.
And, here — that’s what happens.

Great location on Rose in Venice. Walking distance from my house, so super convenient for me.
This place is for someone who prefers a more elite stylist, it’s not cheap, but then again nothing in Venice is cheap anymore.
Definitely not a typical salon atmosphere, it’s very hip, but discrete and subtle (which is my style). Both stylist that were there are represented by agents, so for some reason that’s important to me (I’m a bit of a hair snob I guess).
