The bast of the best Mexican food ever!!! First time I was there 6 – 7 months ago and I always go there when I’m hungry and need something fast, my boyfriend also loves this place. Especially beef burrito with avocado, do you know you can ask no beans no rice? Only beef and avocado! Amazing! Also I often order quesadilla cheese, sometimes there is a big line, but how cares? Everybody knows why! 5 stars !) bravo!)

I had them maybe 2 nights ago around 1am with my beau. after a long fun night we grew hungry and drove down vine only to find an eatery that was awake with us. With only 10 dollars in cash we sped to the parking lot fast. Order about 4 tacos and yearned for more, thank god this spot was open til 4. Best, Alexis B.

Excellent tacos! Fresh and full of taste! Our favourite was the fish taco. Only downside was that the shrimp taco could have had a little bit more shrimp in it. But after trying the fish, tongue and chicken they still get 5 stars!

A true taste of authentic Los Angeles Mexican food! CASHONLY!!! This is the first location in a series of chain restaurants scattered theoughout Los Angeles, and the valley. The menu doesn’t change from location to location, just the location and what facilities they have available. As far as the food goes for all of the locations the it’s really quite good. The tacos are high quality and also relatively inexpensive. Try the California Burrito if you’re interested in something unique but also really good(It’s my favorite)!. The wet burritos are also a treat. You really can’t go wrong with what you order on the menu from any of these locations. For this location in particular. Pros: –Good location right in the heart(or close enough) to Hollywood. Plus it’s always a treat to go to the original location. –Parking is available(more on this later) –This location is open later than other locations(it might even be 24 hours I’m not 100% sure). A lot of the other locations close around 10/11pm, but this one is open much later. Cons: –Cash only(that’s the same for all of the locations) but the ATM at this location is kind of sketchy looking. So much so that my friend I was with didn’t feel comfortable using it. I don’t know if it’s that it’s older(which it is) or just not properly maintained but you don’t feel great sticking your debit card into this thing. -(As promised) The parking that is available is not exclusive to the restaurant, and can often be full. It can be difficult to find a spot close to the restaurant itself. –The dining area at this location leaves a lot to be desired. There are only a few tables and they are almost always occupied. So you’re probably going to end up having to either eat standing up, or taking your order to go. –The service area at this location is also pretty limited. The one window is fairly small, and the wait area for people to both order, and get their food is the sidewalk itself. So this leads to: not a lot of room, general confusion about who’s ordered, who’s waiting, and who’s just some bum standing around because that’s what people in Los Angeles do. Also, the salsa/condiment/napkin/utensil area is located fairly close to the same place. It’s also not as large(with as much variety) as other locations. This leads to a not quite as pleasant ordering/food prep experience. –The beverage selection at this location is also limited. They don’t even have Jarritos! One of my favorite things to do when I’m getting tacos is to drink a lime Jarritos! But NO! HaHa. I know it’s not that big of a deal, but just something to be aware of. In Summation: Don’t think that this has been a negative review. This chain is great! The food is awesome! It’s one of my favorite places. I’m always a sucker for the original location and it’s nice to try it out. But the bottom line is as the franchise has branched out they’ve built newer, and quite frankly better/nicer locations with better amenities and more variety. So if this is the location closest to you, definitely your place. If you have a desire to go to the original, then give it a whirl. But otherwise there isn’t anything about this location in particular that should lead you to seek it out.

Today i dealt with people that didn’t have proper costumer skills too bad. I order pay and 15 mins later they call me to tell me some of the items yhey don’t have, how about you take this instead they say .NOOO. ok so the way i look at is they fogure they charge you then they tell you they tell you they dont have it, I’ll give you this in stead. Im sorry not for me i dont work that way call it spoil or watever and on top of that they give me attitude when i said i don’t what what they want to give me. Please.

Update. Went the other day at 845 and they were closed. Not so sure why they say they open at 8. Food always good but if your in a hurry in the am don’t even think about it. Too bad I do not know where to get a good breakfast burrito anywhere close. If anybody knows a good breakfast burrito in Hollywood let me know Food is always good. Last couple times when I arrive In the am they weren’t open on time and the person at the cash register had a bad attitude. I wouldn’t even mention it, but it’s not an isolated event. Cook is real cool and knows what he’s doing. North Hollywood location much friendlier and just as good.

DELICIOUS. If you’re looking for that authentic Mexican spot in the heart of LA, Cactus hits the spot. A few of my friends have been here late after a night around town so I’ll definitely keep this place in mind when I’m hungry late at night. I came for lunch and it wasn’t too packed. It’s literally a «hole in the wall» type of place. It’s a simple taco stand… nothing fancy at all. The reason why it’s not a 5-star place to me is because they are cash only. There’s an ATM machine right next to the window but why pay that ridiculous fee? I got an order of 3 tacos(carne asada, lengua and pastor) and also an order of super nachos(with carne asada). First off, I’m a big fan of soft shell tacos and the corn tortillas were on point. The portions of meat were very generous, not to mention very tender as well! I like how they pack on the onions and cilantros as well. You can’t go wrong with anything you order! I’ll definitely be back soon!

One of my favorite taco spots in Los Angeles. The vegetarian tacos here are incredible-piled high with rice, beans, lettuce, and huge chunks of avocado. You must try their verde salsa-super spicy and flavorful without being overly salty. All of their salsas are consistently excellent, actually. $ 2.25 might seem a bit much for a taco, but they don’t skimp on any of the ingredients here. They are open until 3am, and the outdoor seating area is very chill and nice. Service is friendly and fast. Cash only.

This is a cash only spot that is open very late. I usually park in the market parking lot or on the street when I eat here. I’ve never had a problem finding parking. I come here often and have had the tacos, burritos, & nachos. They’re generous with the meat portions and the price point is spot on. Lengua is my go to meat here. It is always so tender. I’ve tried the majority of their meats and they’re all tasty. I noticed they no longer have self service condiment stand out, so you’ll want to ask them for any of the extras(onions, peppers, salsas, limes, radishes, etc). The food can be a little greasy sometimes, so you might want to ask for an extra bag if you’re transporting in your car. I had an incident where the grease seeped through the bag and made a mess on my passenger seat.

BOMBAY authentic Mexican food! I’ve been here a handful of times & am never let down. They serve out of a small stand alone building with a parking lot behind them. The rolled Taquitos, chicken torta, & asada tacos are the best things on the menu in my opinion. You can always tell a place is going to be delicious based off the salsa bar– this one does not disappoint. They literally have 5 types of salsa, chopped up radishes, limes, pickled jalapenos carrots garlic, and chopped cilantro + white onion. Very nicely priced too :$ P. S.CASHONLY!

I was driving back to my hotel from Pink’s when I say this little Taco hut and immediately bookmarked it for later. The next night there I was, getting a burrito and a couple tacos! Everything was very yummy, although it was all spicy for my candy ass! I like very mild spices, and after 3 days in LA I came to the conclusion that Southern Californians like their Mexican food SPICY! lol But quite tasty, I would highly recommend

Oh my goodness — every time I’m in LA, this is THE place for their lengua tacos. Seriously, they give you so much lengua in their tacos and their burritos. So fresh and delicious, I don’t think I’ve ever come here and left unsatisfied. This place looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but many types of people from different walks of life come here(we’ve spotted some«Glee» stars come here). I’m going to keep coming here after I have my rendezvous around the city. I love this place and I don’t mind if there’s a line. One time, my boyfriend surprised me with 3 tacos when I asked for 2 and I straight up told him this was better than a proposal. Yup, that freaking good. Get the lengua or maybe the al pastor and you’ll be satisfied — fo’reals.

How this place has four stars on Unilocal is just crazy! Mexican food is my favorite type of food, I grew up eating it at home and out in restaurants in Southern California. I’ve also had Mexican in other cities with a high Mexican population, and even Mexican people in Mexico agree with me that Los Angeles has some of the best Mexican restaurants in the world. This is why I can’t understand why a small Restaurant that says it serves Mexican food in LA is still in business. First this place has a limited menu. I tried ordering an enchilada combination plate tonight and the cash register lady seemed offended with my order. Every Mexican restaurant must have an enchilada choice, nonetheless, I settled for a three taco combo with an horchata drink. The total was about $ 9.00, not expensive, but $ 9.00 can get you some pretty orgasmic Mexican food in most of LA, not this place though. The horchata was watered down, the refried beans were bland, the tortillas were undercooked, the meat tasted stale, and the lettuce serving was overdone. To make matters worse the service was awful. The kitchen started to push out orders quicker then how orders were coming in, but the cash register lady wasn’t paying attention so my food sat out for a while until it cold by the time that I got it. Take away here is that the food is bad an unauthentic. Calling it Mexican is false advertisement because they can’t even get the basics right. Who ever is giving this place good reviews has to stop immediately because cactus is not real Mexican food.

Deserves zero stars. Ate there last night and today food poisoning. I ate here once before and it was ok but last night really overall regret going there. called for pick up gave them probably 15min and they didn’t start it till I got there and i asked, it wasn’t that busy they just didn’t start it. They charged extra for sour cream that we never got in either two burrito. Way too much cheese pretty unappetizing and I love cheese. I asked for a drink which was room temp then they poured over a small amount of ice so it was gross melted/warm. The food or the drink could have gotten me sick don’t know but not happy. They were also rude I would talk to them and no reply, thank you no reply, dollar tip no reply. I regret going here big time missed work today from being bed ridden, never going back.

When I was only a visitor to LA, I would’ve given every taco truck a 5-star review. Cheap, convenient, delicious — it was a triple threat tortilla-wrapped in heaven. I don’t know if time has wisened me or jaded me, but I can’t help but approach these taco joints with a more discerning palate these days. Cactus is still solid and will scratch that itch. They have some seating(outdoors) that can be nice if you’re looking to hang out for awhile, but ultimately don’t really do anything to set themselves apart. The carne asada and pastor are money, can’t vouch for much else. They have the usual side-cart assortment of condiments etc for all your dressing needs!

Amazing little gem in Hollywood! Quality, authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price. Ordered the veggie burrito and a carne asada taco. BOMB! Only negative is cash only. C’mon it’s 2015. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t accept credit cards at this point. Despite all this, I will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the menu!

Been coming here for 3 years now. A little corner gem located in Hollywood not too far from the main strip. The food here is delicious and very affordable. Open till 3:00 am if you’re hungry after a late night of partying or simply just craving the cactus delicacies. The lines here and crowds can get pretty heavy and also you may run into a celebrity or two because I have in the past. I highly recommend trying this little authentic Mexican food stand while in the heart of Hollywood California.

I think I keep getting beef to be safe, and then I mean to make a note to self not to order it again(since I’ve tried things friends ordered and could tell I maybe made the wrong call). Only accepts cash and the ATM machine doesn’t make you feel very confident about your debit card security.

Oh man. I just finished an EPIC burrito. Chile relleno WITH al pastor and all the fixings. I have a food baby that’ll last till the new year, but this was flipping AMAZING. The al pastor was super flavorful and matched the chile relleno perfectly, which was fried cheesy goodness. I’m not going to lie, this was pretty damn oily, but in a way that’s just sinfully perfect. Make sure to grab about five thousand napkins. This is generally my go-to spot for burritos while in LA(it’s close to where I stay) and I now know what I will be getting every single time I stop in this town. I highly recommend eating this burrito. Make sure you have nothing to do afterwards because the only energy you’ll have left is to lie on the couch in bliss while enjoying the best food coma ever. Also: the green and chipotle salsas are great pairings with the burrito, particularly the green one on the more chile relleno-y parts.

Ive been here a couple of times for an emergency taco dinner. Their tacos are good. Simple, but inexpensive and good. If you are in need of a taco because you are nearby and starving, this is definitely a place to go! I don’t think I will be driving far to get here, but I would go back if I was near. I always get a fish taco and it serves its purpose! They also have salsas outside you can help yourself to. It can feel a little sketch later at night, so just be aware of that if you are taco’ing by your sexy lonesome self.

Mediocre if that. Would not return for their tacos, the pastor was some dehydrated über salty neon red pork which resembled Hawaiian style bbq refreshed with oil? Definitely one of the worst pastors I’ve had. Beef burrito with cheese was also meh while eaten hot, flavors actually came through more with the cold leftovers. What’s actually quite worthy of a trip to this stand are their fresh and tender shrimp & fish ceviche tostadas. Delicious, not fishy, actually tasted like clean fresh citrusy seafood. Cash only and no agua frescas.

So, I can’t say how this food tastes like when I was a) sober or b) have not had any alcoholic substances, but Cactus is pretty awesome for late-night eats because it’s open a late & you get bang-for-your-buck. They also have a salsa/hot sauce/etc station located to the left of the windows where you order and pick up your food. It’s probable that everyone has their go-to’s when one hits up the sauce station, but if you’re like me and like to try them all and your palette craves variety — go sauce crazy! Seating is pretty much picnic tables to the left and to the right of the window. When we came it was super late at night(legit late nights eats, waddup noms at odd hours) & we were able to grab a seat! But be warned, other party people or people with late night hankerings will be in line with you. So there’s a good chance you’re going to have to vulture for table space, esp if you’re in a fairly large group. So, I have a thing for tongue & I ordered the Lengua burrito! No regrets. Packkkkked with lenguaaaa deliciousness and nothing else felt skimped on. It was delicious. And I mean, you’re in Hollywood and it goes without saying — you may or may not bump into celebs. The group I was with saw someone from Glee… okay they saw(I was devouring my burrito — I get super into my food) and I guess that’s pretty cool. We’re all human and we all need our late night nommmm fixes!!!

What a gnarly little taco joint. Aside from the night time neon iridescence of the place, it’s not much to look at from the outside. Keep in mind it’s cash only so potential customers beware!!! Can’t comment too much on the menu but I can say the chorizo tacos are absolutely off the freaking hook!!! Itty bitty little dudes but I wouldn’t expect monster sized gems for about a buck fifty apiece either… Tried them laced with avocado and topped with just a hint of sour cream. Amaze-balls!!! My daughter and I ordered two each of those tacos and her good friend ordered the«California Burrito» which in his words was«mother effin good». I’ll say this… For around $ 4.00, that baby looked to be one helluva bargain!!! It was large, in charge and I believe it’s an «off the menu» type item… The salsa verde they have available outside on the cart is righteously good. So good, we took a few extras home for later use ;-) Being this was only my first time, if I had to complain, I would give them two suggestions… First, make PLENTY of lengua, especially if you’re gonna have it on the menu, particularly for the tongue lovers like myself and… Second, if you’re gonna be a cash only biz, make sure you have a working ATM that doesn’t look like you’ll need a tetanus shot after«attempting» to use it. Maybe the next visit will bump it up to four stars. Peace out!!!

I dont get out much these days. But if I need to be in Hollywood on Vine Street between Santa Monica & Melrose… you’ll find me at the Cactus Mexican Food stand putting away some delicious street tacos! ¡No mamén! Cactus makes some pretty good street style tacos and other popular Mexican edibles and all for a decent price. The process is simple. Walk up to the counter, order your food, wait a few minutes and BUHBAM! Eat. Cactus looks like its been at this spot for some time and does have its charm. There’s a bench seating area adorned with a nice Hollywood Blvd mural to admire or you can people watch along Vine St… its Hollywood ya know. The quality of the food is solid. Our tacos were perfect in size and had me wanting more even after I was full. There’s is also a salsa and condiment bar. Of course there is also a selection of agua frescas and soft drinks too. So yes! If you happen to be in this part of the world and all you want to do is eat… dont be a tourist and be waiting for hours for a hot dog at a certain popular hot dog stand(on Melrose & La Brea). Come to the Cactus to get your fill. –Peace
