Come on Saturday this area is crazy. Come on late Sunday there are a few places open. CFD is one of them. Strangely enough I started having a conversation with the security guard about the food in the area. Interesting orchids and such. Im not a huge flower person but as I was here by chance. Family really loved and did a double circle. Parking is free and easy on Sunday!

Call before going in after 5 because they sometimes close before 6. Metered parking right out front, cute lunch place right next door. Flower prices were clearly marked. It was towards the end of the day so not all the flowered were totally fresh and some of the bouquets were a little smalls you may want to combine them. Extra charge for debit cards and $ 20 minimum for credit cards so bring cash. No ATM in the store.

I decided to get an Orchid for my friend and went to the Flower Market area on Valentine’s day(big mistake). There were too many cars and people all over the area. After 15 minutes of driving around, I found a parking spot. I walked over to the LA Flower Market and looked at the Orchids from outside the building since I wasn’t sure I wanted to pay $ 2.00 for the entry fee. I checked Unilocal and found California Flower Depot across the street and I didn’t have to pay an entry fee, so I looked around the small-medium sized flower shop. While I was in there looking around, it seemed like every other shopper was an LA Sheriff or LA Policeman. There must have been 20+ guys coming and going from the law enforcement department buying flowers/roses for their wives, mothers, girlfriends, or daughters. The selection of Orchids at California Flower Depot is a bit smaller than the LA Flower Market, but I picked out a very pretty white orchid plant with 2 flowers and several buds. It was $ 11.00 plus tax, so the total came out to be $ 11.99. I walked back to my car and happy I was able to get a nice Orchid for a good price. From what I could see, an orchid from the LA Flower Market is about $ 10.00 for the same size, so the prices are about the same between the two businesses. At the LA Flower Market, you can look at many, many different vendors, so the selection is much greater. Thanks California Flower Depot for serving my needs! Xie Xie!

California Flower Depot is a wonderful bargain find! I love decorating my home with fresh flowers and plants, but I hate overpaying for things — which is why I am a huge fan of this shop. They have a beautiful selection of various single-stem orchids for $ 11 and cymbidium orchids for $ 14.75. Their prices are very competitive(lower than a lot of stalls in the Flower Mart) and they have longer hours so it’s easy to make a quick stop. While the orchids are the main attraction, they also have a handful of house plants and flower bouquets. The orchids come bare bones so you’ll need your own pot. The shop conveniently has some cheapie pots on hand, but I recommend going across the street where you can buy really pretty pots for less than $ 5. Whether for yourself or for gift giving, the extra effort for something nice is totally worth it and only takes a few minutes. I usually grab moss and pots from BNB Floral Supplies or the supplies stalls in the Flower Mart(if the mart is still open); put the orchid in the pot, cover the top with some moss, and *voila* … an elegant orchid for under $ 20!

When I don’t want to deal with the overwhelming wholesale competition and early hours, I just go next door to this pleasant flower mart. it’s always filled with orchids, everyday carnation, dozens of baby roses, all types of fillers, perfect potted plants, $ 2 vases, coffee beans, grass fillers, lilies, blue iris, star gazers… I had our Chinese tea ceremony to prepare for, so I bought the following: 4 bunch of sun flowers(each bunch has 5 flowers), 2 bunch of daisies, one bunch of coffee beans as fillers, and one bunch of pink bells all for under $ 25.00 to make the occasion oh so appropriate and memorable. The prices are clearly marked, cheap as crap so there’s no need to bargain and you know the flowers are fresh at downtown. You have to spend $ 20 minimum to use credit or debit. See my photos.
