My all-time favorite arts event in Los Angeles. Great bands, cool art and the best crowd. Arrive solo and leave with someone cute and artsy.

I had so much fun at the last several events that I started volunteering for them(full disclosure)! Great art, great vibe. Pre-sale tix are $ 15, a bit more affordable than the $ 20 at the door so I’d get tix now if you can. Proceeds go to great causes like their partnership with A Place Called Home, a nonprofit that works with at-risk kids. There are lots of things to do in LA but you really can’t beat the LA art scene. Get some work from emerging artists before they become big!

Not my thing. Not my crowd. Jeez how did people in LA get so WEIRD? Call me an ignorant of the arts, despite the amazing photography and great DJ at this place, I was not able to enjoy myself. The DJ should have been placed outside, not inside the gallery with blasting yellow lights. Not the right ambiance for anyone to dance(but the most eccentric LA types). Can’t blame the event I guess, I’m just not«alternative» enough to have fun at one of these shindigs.

For a downtown art scene, this is a very good option. There was both indoor and outdoor spaces to hang, and a lot of DJ’s that kept changing shifts during the evening. Marques Wyatt, the resident DJ at Deep did his thing here too. We talked to him, he’s a cool guy. Spinning mostly house music, definitely worth checking out if you’re into this type of scene. Celebrities sometimes attend this event. Mystery, author of «The Mystery Method» and star of the VH1 show, «The Pick Up Artist» showed up. A chica in a white slinky dress was hot on his heels. He keep blowing her off, it was funny to watch. He is really tall, about 6’6. The art work is in the warehouse like spaces. Mostly a mix and mingle, with some interactive art pieces, and some cool digital images, see pics. When we first got here, we scored street parking. Lucked out as there was a long line out front, the wait took a while until they decided to let all the people that didn’t want to drink in first as there wasn’t a need to check ids. $ 5 for the art preview, $ 15 for the after party. Note that the venue has recently changed to Lot 613 at the Première Events Center on Imperial Street in downtown Los Angeles. East of Alameda and west of the Los Angeles river, one block east of Mateo. East on 6th, right on Mateo, left on Jesse, left on Imperial Street.
