*** This exhibit shouldn’t have been in the Resnick. *** I enjoy David Smith sculptures. Other than Alex Calder, he maybe the most revered American welding sculptor. So you’d think that Resnick would’ve taken special care to show a collection of his work in an ideal environment. Not. Well I guess that the Tim Burton show trumped this work. Smith’s work is haphazardly assorted in the huge atrium. All works in one room separated by translucent scrims? This space is much to large to accentuate the subtleties of the work; the space really dwarfs his sculptures.(ugh) I don’t care how much coin the Tim Burton show brings in for this pavilion, your commitment should be to finer arts. David Smith exhibit should be your marquee headliner. *** Please Resnick, don’t get too commercial.(smh) ***
