Holiday office parties can totally suck… unless there is killer food involved. Enter the new and very improved DiVita’s Pizza… delivered hot and right on time to our office yesterday afternoon. You know how you’re not supposed to fill up on bread before the meal? Well, what if the meal is bread… I mean, pizza with a crust that is to die for. I couldn’t stop eating(and drinking) despite my wife not only warning me about the aftermath but then disarming me of another(my 6th!) slice. Oh well, sometimes you gotta indulge in the finer things in life. And I’m gonna, cause this place is right around the corner from my office.

Went to my buddy’s holiday party last night and they got pizza from DiVita’s, which was pretty much INSANE. I think they’re just doing a little catering for the holidays, but my friend knows the new pizza guy and he’s doing this new pan/sheet thing. It’s super-light and airy while still having this wallop of a crunch. It’s pizza like I haven’t had before. The basic one with tomato and cheese was great, but they also got these gourmet pizzas with cauliflower and potato that took it to another level. It was especially great for the party because they cut it up into small pieces so you could try everything. Honestly the best part is the bread though, I feel like I could eat it for days. Can’t wait until they open to the public again!

The best pizza in Los Angeles now comes from DiVita’s. I don’t think they’re open to the public yet but the new owners are catering a few off-site private parties for the holidays to get the word out and apparently I was lucky enough to attend one this afternoon. Their new pizza guy makes crazy-delicious pan pizza that melts in your mouth. Truly, the best pizza I’ve eaten on the entire West Coast. It’s light, airy, crunchy, salty, tangy — all of the most amazing flavors and textures rolled in to one. I’m so excited that DiVita’s will soon open to the public, but I’m totally bummed that I have to wait. I want more!!!

Oh man… I just called a few times and found out the telephone to be disconnected. WHAT? Went online to find that my neighborhood pizza joint that I’ve been going to since the mid-80’s is gone. Waaaaa I wish I had known so I could have said good-bye with a final pizza-to-go and a slice of their awesome NY cheesecake. It’s a sad, sad night.

RIP to Divita’s pizza. I lived down the block for about eight years and still do. This was my go to Neighborhood spot for New York style pizza. It was probably one of the best slices in LA. However, I had a feeling that this place was about to close. The interior of the restaurant was literally about 30 years old. Also the owner did absolutely nothing to attract a younger crowd. I will miss the staff and delivery people who were always very friendly to me.

I’ve now had the pizza here twice and it’s very good. The only thing is, when ordering over the phone for delivery, the man from the restaurant spoke in a very condescending tone and was not doing his job well. If it weren’t for him, this place would have 5 stars.

Takeout Sausage and Pepperoni Calzone! It was really good, baked perfectly, dough was awesome, garlic butter on the outside, yum! Never had ricotta cheese in a calzone before, which was really nice. This place is worth a look if you like to look at Calzones :)

Friendly service, but with $ 25 for a Medium you can do much better at Fresh Brothers. I’ll give the sandwich a shot soon, but probably not another pie.

The chicken wings were soggy and the hot sauce was more like marinara. The pizza was nothing special. If you are hungry it will fill you up, but will leave you wishing you had just gone with a place you know and like.

It’s a little looking pizza shop on a busy road, but the food was super good. Pizza was extra cheesy & garlic bread was the real stuff, it was a one time visit but I would definitely go back if in LA again!

I’ve been here four times and feel it’s time to comment. Note: I’m not comparing this to Tasting Kitchen or Mozza or some kind of fancy Italian restaurant. I’m talking about an $ 8 sandwich, solid tomato sauce, the bread is always baked fluffy and tasty. I’ve had the chicken parm, meatball, Italian sausage sandwiches, and the calzone($ 10ish and up). All kind of the same idea– dripping cheese and tomato sauce and meat and hot roll carbs– all delish. The service is fine, the interior is fine, I suppose I could ding them one star for that– it’s nothing special and the tv is usually on, so it’s not a romantic date spot, no. It’s more a «we’ve been dating three years and just want the delicious food and are ok with a food coma afterward» spot. good place to come solo as well…, so very tasty, sometimes I crave it…

This is a very outdated establishment… and sadly it doesn’t try to make up for it by providing good service OR good food. Im concerned its not very sanitary… that got validated when i came in for a take out order, and noticed a short sweaty guy grabbing lettuce in an old cooking pot with his hands and placing it in take out containers. Some lettuce fell on the desk covered with papers and document(in other words, NOT A food counter) and he picked the dropped pieces and placed them back in the pot. This is truly revolting to see. Not too mention he his incredibly rude. Do not go here.

Great sauce, great cheese, great crust. So much better than any chain.

I was surprised to find the restaurant completely empty when I went there at 7 pm on a Friday night. The food quality, amount, and pricing is comparable to olive garden, but the ambiance makes for a superior experience. The restaurant looks and feels like it has been around for many decades, which I personally enjoy. The waitress was very attentive and my drink was never empty. Will definitely go back!

OMG… Used to go here 25 years ago when I lived in the neighborhood. It was a decent pie. Was in the area and wanted to relive my youth. Looks exactly the same as it did 25 years ago. I even still saw the stain on the wall I used to stare at when I was high in this place. And smelled like that old place I remember which was cool at first, but then I changed my mind to disgusting. You get my drift. Clearly has changed hands and now is run by folks who have no clue. Food was attrocious. I would venture to say the pizza dough is frozen and not made there. Kitchen Nightmares should not even bother with this joint. Its to bad. Old school classic pizza joints are cool when they keep it together. Ohhh, and look at some of the pictures. These are not even their food! They took these generic photos off the internet. Nice touch. Pictures(or lack of them) speak a million words…

This is going to sound awful, but I’ve been here more than once, and I can never remember what I get after a week or so. But I remembered this time. I came here a few weeks ago and we shared a large pizza with a bunch of meaty toppings, and everything was just… fine. Not amazing, not terrible, just… okay. I’ve had better and worse pizza, but this one was very middle-of-the-road. Service was kind of weird and spotty at times, but the girl, Kimberly, who eventually took over for us was great, attentive and very friendly. And I will say, their cannoli are very very good.

I love this place! I’ve been coming here for 30 years, it’s the last old school pizzeria in town! I usually have it delivered, but occasionally will stop in for lunch. This is one of the few last Mom & Pop pizza places left on the westside, it’s not fancy but it’s a great hole in the wall! I love their pizza dough, not too thin, not too thick, it’s just right and delish!

This really should be a one star review but I cannot, in all honesty, overlook the fact that the calzone we got here, with pepperoni and sausage added, was transcendent. It had the smoothest, milkiest ricotta filling and the dough was golden brown, crispy and just strong enough to hold together its steamy contents. It was the stuff calzone dreams are made of. EVERYTHING else was awful. Service was weird at best and, in the end, after we asked for a little bit of chopped garlic to help season our food, we got charged FOUR hard-earned dollars for about two tablespoons of it. Come off it! Let alone the fact that you didn’t tell us of the charge beforehand, but four dollars, really? Get lost. Among the awful items we had to suffer through were the garlic cheese bread(a joke, check out some pictures others posted) and the fried shoe leather eggplant parmesan. Single-handedly, that eggplant parmesan should have sunk Di Vita’s to a one star cumulative total. This was an embarrassment. The poor eggplant was completely dessicated, unseasoned, and over-fried to within an inch of its life. A truly miserable dish. So, who has any theories on how Di Vita’s manages to serve those insanely good calzones under the same roof as the rest of its… stuff? Calzone fairies? A happy accident? I’m not sure, but I do know that whoever is in charge of those bad boys should have the entire run of the kitchen. Like, immediately.

The pizza was delicious and the service was great! BBQ chicken pizza: YES. Plus, the prices are pretty good. My one issue and it’s a GIANT issue: They serve diet pepsi under the guise that it’s diet coke! I know, right??? Okay, it’s not like they lie about it per se, but they definitely don’t tell you that it’s disgusting pepsi sliding down your throat like poison while you’re unwittingly casually sipping on your soda that your feeble mind moronically assumes is diet coke. (As you might be able to tell, I have strong feelings about pepsi…)
