The trashy guys working the door security last night should be fired. Very rude, very immature and very ghetto. You can tell they probably are bullied at home by their girlfriends, if they even have one, or bullied by their moms cause they probably still live at home. So at the door they get to act like they’re all bad ass and hard lol. Disrespectful, ghetto, pathetic losers that are still employed there is what’s continuing to bring this bar down. They look like they steal too.

What a dump… The bartenders are clueless… when the bar is packed… you don’t make one drink at a time… take the whole order and make them at once… and if you’re gonna charge 10 bucks for a cocktail… put some of that money back into the place… the friggin bathrooms are disgusting… worse than a gas station…

Checked out the Star Girls burlesque show here! Cook venue, small but chill. 2 bars and a sweet smoking patio. I’ve been going to the Dragon Fly bar off and on for 10 years, lol.

I love the space and many of the shows here however it’s the only bar I find myself at that makes the most watered down drinks. Friends and I have to try each bartender to see which one may pour a drink that you can taste the alcohol. If you plan on going there just drink beer and only go for the shows, music or performers.

wow can’t believe i haven’t reviewed this place! well, what can i say? i think everyone’s been here at various times in their lives either for small concerts and/or events??? the drinks are awful and over priced(of course) but i think it really serves its purpose well in that it’s the perfect venue and size and also relatively conveniently located(tho i don’t care for this neighborhood) for what it exists for.

Pretty old and run down. Not nasty or anything, just don’t expect anything Hollyhood chic. The bar is a catastrophe. Only 2 bartenders for a full house Friday night and one of them literally moved slower than a sloth in hibernation. I wanted to light a fire under her ass! Don’t know if she was tired, new, hungover, or just didn’t care but she moved with zero haste. And the drinks… egghhhh. Wayyyy too strong, not mixed well at all. A rum and coke tasted like pure rubbing alcohol. Just gross. I was done after 1 drink. Parking was decent. Got there about 11:30pm and was able to find street parking on one of the residential streets. Plus in my book. Not my first choice, but can’t say I’d jump for joy to be back.

There are very few artists who I like enough these days to listen to an entire album without skipping to the next song. Some of them include: –Sara Bareilles(my idol) –Beyoncé(Texas! 3rd Coast represent!) –Drake(I love this boy) And a young lady many of you may not have heard of: Alex Nester. I’m so used to us black people having soulful singing voices, till I’ll admit: it’s kinda neat when it’s some other race for a change. And Alex’s soulful voice is mind-blowing, Unilocal.Look her up.(Let’s give it up for the White Girls!!!) And she’s also 11 years cancer-free. She kicked leukemia’s ass straight out the building and celebrated the 11th year here at Dragonfly Bar. All in all, it was a good night, thanks partly to Dragonfly. They were not assholes at the door. They were kind and understood the nature of the event/celebration. Street parking was fairly easy. The place wasn’t fancy or anything, but it served its purpose. Lots of room(mostly standing). The bartenders were okay. They made basic drinks for the night. I’m used to uppity bars with specially crafted cocktails, but this place did the job. Looking to throw a low key event? I’d consider this place

This place is… Weird! It’s getting five stars because that terminator too reenactment shit is funny as hell. T1000 steals the show with his random LeBron appearances. Although Justin Connor fey beiber is a close second. The Gallagher integration entertainment is enthralling, it could be a little more intense. I understand having limitations for cleaning & safety purposes, but that doesn’t stop gwar from performing their liquidy theatrics. The place itself reminds me if a cross between three bars in buffalo, NY — the showplace, the pink, & frizzys… But at least their beers aren’t semi skunky.

Came for Respect DnB show. Enjoyed all 3 artists. Good sets. Beautiful back alley patio area but unfortunately not a health conscious crowd because there were a lot of smokers. Spilled drinks on the floor inside so I was glad I wore converse and not heels. Bathrooms could have been cleaner. Lady at the bar was nice. Good service. Street parking was sketchy. Glad we got a place near the venue where the bouncers had an eye on the area.

I’ve come here for a few LADEAD events like Disko Nekro and it’s nice. Spacious, not too dank, nice plush booths, cheap drinks. They even keep the men’s room clean, considering.

This is my favorite spot, especially on Friday nights for Miss Kitty’s Parlor. It’s a wild night and a feast for the eyes! Come early for cheaper cover.

Came to Dragonfly Bar on May 2nd for the Star Girls Burlesque show, and it was AWESOME! At first, I was sketchy on how I was probably not going to enjoy the burlesque show because of some of the bad reviews I read and the venue and the whole standing up situation. However, I totally enjoyed the show! Before the girls performed, there was a performance by «The Jimmy Psycho Experiment.» These guys were dressed up as Aliens and played about two-three Star Wars theme songs which was cool because they were preparing the crowd of Star Wars fans, for the burlesque show. What was amazing was to see that this place wasn’t super packed and I guess it’s because that was the same day Mayweather VS Paquiao’s boxing match took place. The show was two hours long which was amazing! I’ve been to other burlesque shows where the shows are only an hour long. These girls did any amazingly awesome job! The show has its funny moments and some of the performances are intense that you can literally feel the beats and vibrations coming from the amps pounding the crap out of your heart haha! well at least that happened to me and it left me speechless and mesmerized to see the hard work all these girls put into their passion of teasing. So, if you’re a Star Wars fan or you enjoy watching burlesque shows like myself(I like Star Wars and Burlesque) I guarantee you that you would enjoy this Star Girls show. These girls will blow your socks away.

Ok so we came for the Star Wars burlesque show. That MC(F-you Dave) was annoying, talked too much and took too long between the girls coming out. The girls’ performances were funny and a unique experience. My first burlesque! That alien band played way toooo long. They should have played the cantina and intro song, then peaced out. They are the act that opens the show. They wear alien masks and pretend to play instrument, but for like an hour– and cover songs that have nothing to do with Star Wars. Also, tickets said the show starts at 9… We didn’t see any sort of burlesque until 10:30! With no seats and getting there early to wait outside, we stood for 4 hours. They sold Star wars-y gear and merchandise here. We got there early and they were running out of some shirts wtf? The actual dragonfly bar is divey without the divey prices! Yikes $ 10 for weak drinks, though towards the end they got stronger. Dirty bathrooms and hard to find parking on the street. It gets really hot in here too! The show was a unique experience. A fun thing to report when people ask how was your weekend, but I am not looking to goback anytime soon.

When I told my homegirl I was fit’na hit DragonFly Bar she turned and looked at me with amazement in her eyes and said, «THATPLACEISSTILLAROUND?!» I replied, «Yes, it is.» She couldn’t believe it. Apparently this spot has been open and running since the 90’s. I’m not sure if this establishment has been open longer than that. But my friend had vivid memories of her times there in the 90’s. But for me… we’re gonna jump right into present day and I’ll fill you in on my experiences here. FIRSTOFF! I MUSTSHOUTOUT the doorman, Bear! Bear, has a genuine embrace when he’s checking your ID upon entry that kinda makes you want to hang outside with him. Friendly. Polite. Respectful doorman, I look forward to spending money there simply because Bear always shows love! Now that we got that outta the way, this spot is somewhat in my neck of the woods but I only recently started to familiarize myself with this spot. My Homeboi invited me to an event here to kick off my initial experience. It was a monthly event called C.O.L.O.R.S. (I believe it happens every first Friday of the month). The place was PACKED! And I don’t mean that too-many-people-sitting-in-the-backseat– kinda packed. I’m talembot that shoe two sizes too small but I’m gonna stuff my foot in here anyway kind of PACKED! PACKED!!! It was cool though, patrons were still really respectful of ‘personal bubbles’ even though most areas in the spot were shoulder to shoulder. The bar is fairly large and allows several people to order drinks and post up while enjoying the ambience or shouting a conversation. C.O.L.O.R.S. night is dope! Well worth checking out. The other event I come here for(more frequently recently) is Kushtown Tuesdays. Believe it or not but this place is a lot less packed than the C.O.L.O.R.S. event. But still incredibly chill. On most nights during this event you can smell fellow patrons participating in the extremely friendly Kushtown environment =) I mean… it is LA! Although majority of the bars/lounges/clubs in LA aren’t ‘Kushtown’ friendly — this event on a Tuesday is the COM-PL-ETE opposite. They welcome all participants you indulge in: * Papers * Bongs * Pipes * Bleezies(Cigarillos, Blunts) * Edibles Almost if not all forms and devices that allow one to ascend to the clouds… Oh yeah, on Tuesdays they also have live music. Currently Mickey Taelor is a young LA based women with soulful, melodic pipes that fuse the whole Tuesday night experience together. She’s been performing there for the past month. A solid act to check out. Like I said, Tuesday’s doesn’t have half the amount of people at C.O.L.O.R.S. so the space is way more open. There is also a LARGE outside patio area decorated with warm soft lights and a bar area. Plenty of seating outside and in. The ‘VIP’ section is on a first come first serve basis(I really like this detail about the spot). If you’re in the area(especially on a Tuesday) you should stop by for a drink and some…(cough, cough) yeah. Wait! One more thing. Fellas, The Mens bathroom is CLEAN. Like unbelievably clean and has a décor with old playboy magazine covers. **Pleasant Surprise**

We were here for a show. Heads up that the drinks are quite expensive, even the bottled water. If you arrive early there is thankfully a lot of street parking. Other reviews are right in that the bathrooms are not very big, and highly trafficked. I recommend the one in the side room by the photo booth. The champagne bucket reserved booths did not seem to be worth it. The bar felt weirdly understaffed for a full house. It was maybe 1 bartenders per 100 people? I waited so long to order my drink that my partner actually came looking for me and gave up our spot close to the stage, worried I had gotten lost or carted off. This is one of those grey areas, but basically I ended up waiting at the end of the bar with another Asian person waiting and waiting and waiting to be served by the bartender. It took so long and she kept serving other people who had walked up way after us that we started joking about who we thought she would serve next since it was definitely not going to be us. Then we started getting that crappy feeling that maybe there was some subconscious stuff going on since we were the only Asian people sitting at the bar. We had our cash out and everything. Then the bartender came over, said she would be taking our orders, took the guy sitting next to me’s order, and walked away completely ignoring me thinking that I was with him and he had ordered for me(cuz we were both Asian so we were together? I don’t know. So weird. Other than a few brief remarks about the wait the Other Asian and I did not interact with each other.) I had to really assertively flag her down after she came back with his drinks. I mean, I have no idea if there was any actual bias in the bartender ignoring the only two Asian patrons at her bar or if it was just random coincidence, but the fact that the thought crossed our minds was not pleasant if you get my drift. I really hope the bar hires more bartenders during packed nights. Yeesh.

Came out for Respect. Had a great experience. But that was all because of the music. The sound system here was great, but that’s where the greatness ends. Terrible bar service, no good beer. Dirty everything. Men’s room door flapping wide open for that extra classy experience. Was there even a door? I can neither confirm nor deny. Smoke pouring into the venue from the smoking area.

My girlfreind invited me out to see the Star Wars themed burlesque show performed by the Devils Playground, «star girls». I had a great time. It was really entertaining. The music was good and the girls are definitely sexy. Tickets were $ 20 to get in and drinks are $ 9. My only complaint were we had to stand the whole time during the show. My legs were cramping up and people were moving around and cut in front of you, especially when a tall person stands right in front of the stage, its difficult to see pass them. I love to attend future shows only if I check for table and chairs to sit and relax and enjoy the show with a few cocktails. Small venue but they put up a good show.

This place is small. I came on Memorial Day weekend and I was the only asian here. Let me start off with it was kinda tricky to find this place. We drove past it like 4 times until we finally saw a bouncer outside and figured that was it. The bouncer was very very friendly, even wished me a happy belated bday. Cover fee was $ 5, fairly reasonable. Man this place was so ratchet tho lol! In a good way. They played really good music that night but the bartenders sucked ! They weren’t busy and still took forever to get to us. Bathrooms were also ehh? Like one of the bathrooms was near an open door towards the alley. Kinda sketch. Oh well. Overall had a good time here. But it was too far from home and hard to find. Rather come to hermosa
