Cash only. And the parking lot is small so sometimes it’s hard to find parking. You can call ahead for pickup or to eat in. Must try the Pupusas revueltas, they are the best. The mojarra frita is also good.

We had the Huevos Rancheros, Carne Asada, and a couple of Pupusas. The food was ok to good, just not great. The place is what you’d expect in LA, kinda small and run down but the folks there gave good service. They had quite a few people so it’s obviously a local’s favorite. I’d recommend it but bring cash, they don’t except plastic.

Called ahead so it would be ready, ended up waiting a half hour for food. Never again.

Delicous and best ever Pupusas and Platanos that I ever had in my life. If you are a big fan of Salvadorian food this is your place and don’t go anywhere else.

Pupusas are damn good! Both my friend and I got pupusas revueltas and we loved them. They were nice and crisp, and my horchata tasted like any horchata my Salvadoran mom makes so it was good, too! The woman who served us was very nice! The only downside was waiting approximately 30 min to receive our food when there were only 3 other people in the restaurant besides us.

No atmosphere. Tough parking. But oh my god, the huevos rancheros are as good as they get, they’re cheap as hell, and the owners could not possibly be nicer. The fresh pupusas are perfection. El Guanaco is the kind of treasure that makes L.A. the best city in the U.S.

This place pupusas are amazing! So delicious and affordable price! My family feels at home when we come here! Have been going there for years and have tried other pupasas at different places and none have even came close to comparing! Defiantly re comment the place. It is a small place not very high class but is comfortable. food is great! There horchata is good too! Different than Mexican horchata but along the same lines!

First time at El Guanaco, I think it was great in every way. Starting with the fact that it has parking. I called my order in and was ready by the time i got there. The pupusas were amazing, not so greasy and full of flavor. The salsa was a little spicy nothing that cant be handled. The platanos fritos were delicious. Everything was reasonably priced. I work by this area and have decided to try all the restaurants here. I am definitely returning to this restaurant.

This area of L.A. is such a melting pot when it comes to cuisines as they have flavors from Thai, to Armenian, Mexican and El Salvadoran. Makes it really fun to explore around and try the different eateries when visiting this area. I saw this place at the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd. and Wilton Place where there’s a strip mall with a few other eateries in it. I’ve been wanting to eat some pupusas so I thought I’d pop in here as one of my starting points on probably an ongoing venture of trying the different pupuserias in the area. It’s a small hole in the wall with a few tables and chairs. I looked through the menu and everything sounded really good. Although I initially came in to nab some pupusas for lunch, I decided to have the Caldo de Res combination which is a beef stew served over rice with a side salad. It also included the customary thick hand made tortillas that are thick and fluffy. It all sounded really good so I placed my order, waited for a few minutes and was handed my lunch to go as I had requested. The dish looked really great. I really love eating beef stew and it really most any dish that has a tomato based sauce to it and this was done really well. It had a nice flavor, the salad had avocado, tomato and cucumber over lettuce with a wedge of lime to use as the dressing I presumed and tasted fresh. I enjoyed eating this so much that I wish there was actually more of it especially since the price tag was about $ 8.50. I’m still amazed that these hole in the walls charge so much for this type of cuisine but I guess they’re taking advantage of the gentrification of the area and trying to charge prices accordingly for the newer well-heeled clientele. I’d like to try the pupusas and the beef soup sometime.

Amazing. Simply amazing for my Western pallet and white man ways. This is a dump of a restaurant, with laminate booths that are hard to fit in if you weigh more than 230 lbs. So do not expect comfort. that aside, the fresh offerings of the day are visible in the steam table pans: from creamy black beans to pork ribs in a verde sauce. This place is great. Order two or three entrees just to taste them. Chicken soup: amazing; pork in red sauce: amazing. It is all amazing. There is also a small grocery store in the restaurant and a bakery right by its side. What ever you eat, make sure to get an order of fried plantains with beans and crema for desert. Yum.

I have come to this place since I was a teenager and the pupusas are so delicious, my whole family comes here now. Best salvadorian place in Hollywood. Very recommended.

Found this place last night right around the corner from my how. I had the pupusas with loroco in them. They were totally delicious. The Salvadoran Horchata was also great. Me and my friend both got something to drink and two pupusas each and the bill was only 12 dollars. They also have a huge jukebox that plays really loud, funny music. Great chill spot, awesome price. Much better than La Pupusa Loca accross the street!

5 stars? For THIS place? Yeah, right. Not on my watch. This place is actually one of the better restaurants around this particular area but still, it isn’t deserving of five, four or even three stars. The pupusas here are the only thing worth eating. Anything else — don’t. You’ll either get food poisoning or a big dose of disappointment. The service is mediocre, what you’d expect but too bad the restaurant is virtually a dump. Simply the best. The Carne Asada was so flavorful and cooked to perfection it didn’t need anything added to it. The refried beans were probably the best I’ve ever had, in fact I could eat them on their own, and the veggies on the salvadorian steak were just unreal. This place is a hidden gem, right off Wilton and Santa Monica, walk in and you’re greeted by loud speakers and friendly staff. My friend said it’s the best huevos rancheros he’s ever had in his life, 5 stars!

Best Salvadoran restaurant in L.A. I’ve been to more than 30 Salv restaurants in L.A. Some come and go but this place has been there for years and is the only place we go to now. Their pupusas are the best! Great place, usually great service as well. Check it out.

I happened to stumble across this place after coming out of Gold Diggers(semi-strip bar) right next door a few months ago. Thank goodness I did, the food here is fantastic. Not knowing too much about Salvadorian cuisine I asked the guy behind the counter for some suggestions, so he suggested I get the pupusa revuelta plate with beans and rice and a Salvadorian-style tamale since I was a newbie to the Salvi munchies. All I can say is that this place is absolutely deeeee-licious!
