We bought a small lechon from Eva’s couple of days ago. The lechon is too skinny, the meat is so dark and it tastes like sh1t, it looks like a double-dead meat. I suspect that the pigs are stored in the freezer for one year and they keep it there. They have the so called«Tagalog» lechon, which they claim. Heck no, tagalog lechon tastes way better, it’s juicy and no taste of added preservatives. Eva’s lechon is tasted the same as Cebu lechon, they put crappy lemon grass and it feels like you’re eating roasted pig marinated with 100 lbs. of salt + the taste of chinese herb. I’ve tried a lot of lechon in Southern California, and nothing beats the lechon in Manila, like Lydia’s lechon for example, they only cook and roast pig using charcoal, and they only use fresh and«bagong katay» na baboy. For those people who give 5 stars, you better try the Manila’s lechon style. And for those who sell lechon here in Southern Cali, why don’t you re-invent your lechon? Make it more fresh, no more«bangkay» na lechon, I know it’s hard and it takes time to butcher your own pig, but it will taste way better when it’s fresh. Please boycott«bangkay» na baboy!!!

We had a birthday party for my sons one year old birthday! We ordered from Eva’s. We ordered the large and OMG it was the best La Chon we have ever had! Skin was crispy, meat cooked to perfection and was moist NOT dry! I recommend ordering from Eva’s! The La Chon was gone in 2−½ hours. I wish I would of ordered two! Everyone that ate at the party was saying how great it tasted! We had lots of Filipinos, Mexican, Columbians and Caucasians at the party and everyone totally loved the La Chon! Thank you, thank you Eva!!! I will be buying more La Chon in the near future!!!

CROWDPLEASER! When the lechon arrived at the party, everyone was ooohing and aaahing, taking a photo and posting on social media with #yolo I can’t blame them. Eva’s Lechon is a beautiful pig and you can’t help but get your hands on her. Eva’s Lechon is consistent with their quality. We’ve ordered their lechon many times in different portions and they are always amazing. Recently, we ordered a ½ Lechon for New Year’s day and everyone loved it! The meat was soo moist, tender and super juicy and the skin was so crispy. Everyone was raving how good it was. It cost $ 180 tax included. Pricing is reasonable. From what the staff told me they only get USDA approved meat. Customer service was great. The staff who took my order was very nice. They called me the day before pick up as a reminder and they help you load up the meat in your car. I called them personally the next day to say thank you! Highly recommend this place! TIP: Cash only, limited street parking and they do delivery for extra $ 30.

I am so disappointed with the lechon and the service we received from Eva’s lechon. It was my daughter’s first birthday and my lola wanted to order lechon and she recommended Eva’s lechon. It was set for pick up but I had it changed for delivery so I knew it was going to be $ 275 plus $ 30 for delivery. Everything was fine until we took off the foil to start chopping the lechon and it was burnt. The meat inside was so tough it was hard to chew on. I was expecting crispy skin and juicy meat, but nope. Anyways, I let it go. It was already there, I couldn’t do anything about it anymore BUT a couple of hours later someone from Eva’s lechon called me, must be the guy who delivered and this was literally the conversation. Guy: Hi, this is from Eva’s lechon. I had delivered a lechon at your place earlier. and there was a mistake that was made. Me: okay, what was the mistake? That the lechon was burnt and not fresh? Guy: Um, no. We forgot to charge you tax. Me: What?(They gave me a receipt and there no was tax that was written, just the price plus delivery) You called me because you forgot to put tax? Guy: Yes. Me: So what do you expect me to do about it? Go all the way to LA in the middle of my daughter’s birthday party to pay you tax? Guy: Umm. i don’t know. Me: Is this my mistake or yours? Guy: Ours. Me: So? Guy: Never mind. *Hangs up. COMEON. If you made the mistake, don’t expect me to go to out of my way to pay you what you didn’t charge me. This was a disappointment because I see all these ratings from this place and I just wish I had the same experience.

In the 15 years this Glowingly White Boy has been married to my Filipina wife, I have eaten enough lechon to fill the trunk of my old Dodge Intrepid – and that sucker had a 7-corpse trunk! Naturally, my girth has expanded in direct proportion. Of all the lechon I’ve had here(in Los Angeles and Chicago) and in the Philippines, none was better than Eva’s, and none I’ve had on this continent could compare. I haven’t had lechon de leche yet; I’m a little afraid to try it, because everyone tells me it’s far better than the adult lechon, and if it’s THAT good my brain won’t be able to handle it, they’ll find me convulsing and I’ll wind up in a mental hospital with wires up my kazoo and mad doctors performing unthinkable experiments on me. I could do without that.

I have heard that Eva’s Lechon is THEBEST in the Los Angeles area. I must say, it did not disappoint… The skin is SO crispy yet the meat is SO juicy and flavorful! I would eat more pork if it tasted more like this. The price is a major turn off since its $ 300 for a whole pig. You can get a whole pig from Sam Woo for $ 180 but it definitely won’t taste the same since its prepared differently. I don’t know what they do to flavor the meat but it’s delicious by itself, without any sauce. However they do include homemade sauce to dip which makes this piggie even more delectable. It’s also confirmed that USDA certified means you’re not getting a ghetto pig and that this pig grew up in a happy home. They cook their pigs onsite so when you pick it up, it’s FRESH out the over/roaster! They’re very punctual with pick up, very professional and friendly from taking your order to giving you an update to the pick up. They’ll even load it into your car but… Beware: I had the pig in my car for 20 minutes and my car still smells like le chon… it’s been a couple weeks now… So bring a car you don’t mind it smelling.

It was a great time the pig was cooked to perfection and everyone loved it. The only problem we had was the carving. If you have never carved a pig before it was a challenge. It would have been nice if it came with carving instructions or a chart showing you what to cut first. Good experience at a reasonable price. I recommend it.

i bought a 60 lbf lechon from Evas last saturday for my son’s birthday party and when we got the pig it looked real good until we cut it up. The area in the middle of the pig was hollow and it seems that they took out almost half of the whole pig. Very disappointed… and i’ve ordered from them before. I was ripoff this time!!!

Ordered the large/jumbo($ 295+$ 80 delivery for my mom’s 99th bday yesterday June 20 for lunch and it was delicious. Mom’s hard to please when it comes to food since she’s a great cook — but she told me ‘where did you get the lechon?” it tasted very good and skin’s crunchy even when it got cold. There you go – a true testimonial! Will definitely order for the next special occasion.

Full disclosure: This is only the 2nd time I got a whole pig for a party and I’ve only tasted 3 – 4 other lechons from other people’s parties but I have to say that Eva’s Lechon is THEBEST in the Los Angeles area!!! If you’re looking for a traditional Filipino lechon… look no further!!! The skin is SO crispy yet the meat is SO juicy and flavorful! HOGHEAVEN!!! I don’t know what they do to flavor the meat but it’s delicious by itself, without any sauce. However they do include homemade sauce to dip that oinker in which makes it taste EVENBETTER!!! The homemade sauce is better than Mang Tomas IMO. And as a nice bonus, their pigs are USDA certified which means no corners were cut in preparing this swine! USDA certified means you’re not getting a ghetto pig and that this pig grew up in a happy home and it was cut down in his/her prime for you!!! Haha Their prices are about the same as other popular lechon places in the area(give or take $ 10 – 15). I paid $ 300 including tax(CASHONLY) for a 50-pound porker which feeds 50 or more people. Also the place might not look like much from the outside but the inside, including the kitchen, is VERYCLEAN and spacious(got a peek of the kitchen when my pig came out). They cook their hogs onsite so when you pick it up, it’s FRESH out the over/roaster! And the best part is even though Eva’s Lechon is Filipino owned and run, they’re not working on «Filipino time». They’re very punctual with pick up, very professional and friendly from taking your order to giving you an update to the pick up. They’ll even load it into your car! This is definitely the beginning of a long friendship!

I grew up in the Philippines until I’m 21 so had tried many good lechon at Laloma and Cebu. I have been living in Southern California more than 15 years now and that how long I have been eating Eva’s Lechon. This had always been the centerpiece of our family and other gathering that I’ve attended. The pigs here are USDA certified and they are the only one that come close to traditional Filipino lechon. I heard they also have many non-Filipino regular customers who orders roasted pig cooked in their own county’s tradition style as per request. I gave Eva’s a 5 star because their lechon are crispy in the outside yet moist, warm and tender in the inside. The included sauce is equally delicious but I like the meat and skin the way they are. I could have given them an extra star if I could for the fast and friendly service whether it’s a pickup or delivery. If there is an issue, their customer service shines on how they handle and resolve it. I had tried other lechon ordered from Chinatown or small backyard businesses but they are not even close, not USDA and taste different. Eva’s had never disappointed us and will always be our choice. This popular food bloggers also said it all for Eva’s. Featured in this KCET article by Clarissa Wei Feb 23, 2015

My favorite lechon!!! Don’t get the cheap Chinese suckling pig or go anywhere else. If you need amazing lechon this is it~ I’m Filipino-American and I’ve eaten a shit ton of lechon at fiestas. My mom always orders from Eva’s because according to her, this is a real deal Filipino lechon with crispy crispy skin and tender meat on the inside. I’ve eaten lechon from other places(I don’t know where man they just end up at the fiesta) and either the skin is not crispy, or it’s dry, or it’s not flavorful… but Eva always gives a good one. Everytime i saw the cards labeling it as Eva’s I know I’m in for a treat! My family always demolishes them so that we can barely make paksiw~ I miss this in college in Massachusetts! So so so much!

I have never being to this place, but their lechon has been to our family party many times. I have to say that this was one of the best one I had in a long time. The lechon was very moist, tender and well season and the most important the damn skin was super crispy. Time to make that Dr. Appointment.

There’s nothing as perfectly delicious as Philippine roast pig called lechon(from the Spanish word for the same). At any Filipino family gathering, the centerpiece to an authentic feast is a huge or(my preference a baby suckling) pig, a lechon, with an apple in it’s mouth. It almost daunting to see this but typically a lechon sits in center of a beautiful table replete with native dishes. It’s enough to feed a village. The roast meat itself is super tender, moist and good but the crowning glory to a lechon is the SKIN– the crunchy beautiful caramel brown shiny skin. This beautiful state is reached from a low and slow roasting for hours and hours and if done traditionally, banana leaves are worked over the animal and used as a ‘brush’ to baste the rotating roast. The last time I visited the Philippines, a wild boar and baby calf(marinated in whiskey and honey) were cooked gloriously for 8 hours and I could swear to you it does not get any better– eat ya heart out Andrew Z. If your host does it correctly, you get served a piece of skin and meat. Hold up, put the meat aside, take a piece of skin first. Go ahead, bite into it, feels like glass doesn’t it, let it crack and when it breaks it feels like you are crunching on glass(no FIB!!!). Yah Yah, you can say I can get that from a good Chinese BBQ place like Sam Woo or a Cuban lechon or even superb Puerto Rican lechon. I’ve had all 3, you’re lying. There is no taste sensation on this food-rich earth to duplicate the crunch when you bite into the skin of a well made Philippine lechon. It’s somewhat akin to a Peking duck skin but more caramelly, less anise, less orange, just plain crunchy and delicious And Eva’s Lechon makes the best I’ve had outside the Philippines. Her lechon has that crunch– that your mouth immediately senses as breaking glass, so surreal but freakin’ good. Then a flavor dimension permeates your palate, an unctuous beautifully rendered skin flavors that cannot even be compared to the best crunchy pork belly you’ve had. Dip the meat and skin in pâté sauce(slightly sweet and tart with a hint of pepper) to complete the dish. Drink an Oregon Pinot with this and you are a Carnivore in porcine heaven! Done and Done. Tip: This is the epitome of a dive in the country, where you may have driven for hours to get a lechon no one else can make. But nah, you’re in El Lay where all world cuisines coexist lovingly. Don’t we love El-Lay! If you get squeamish looking at an entire animal cooked beautifully from snout to tail, this is not for you… Wimp. An entire roast lechon is about $ 250 and Eva’s will tell you how many it will feed. My guess is the entire village. Cash only. They don’t deliver but they will help you load your purchase in your car. Visits: 5

This is the best lechon I’ve had in my life. Granted, I’ve not gotten to taste lechon in the Philippines, will do that on my next trip, but this is the best I’ve had EVER in the States. For reference, I am Filipino, and have eaten a lot of lechons at many a family party. The skin was CRISPY and well seasoned!!! It was NOT soggy, rubbery, or stale like others I’ve had in the past. Nor was it too salty, or bland. As far as aesthetics go, the skin was a gleaming golden brown. The meat inside was juicy, flavorful, savory, etc. etc. I could go on and on. It wasn’t full of fatty globs of grease either, they somehow render the fat away almost entirely. It’s heavenly. It pulls away from the bone so easily, reminiscent of good barbecue. As for the pricing, I believe it to be quite fair. For $ 260 you get their largest pig [Super Jumbo] and it feeds at least 80, which calculates to $ 3.25 per person. Not bad at all! At our party we had a little over 100 guests, and still had leftovers of the super jumbo size to make paksiw! I saw another review that gave this place one star! HOW?! Then I go on to read about how they only had a problem with the pricing, and didn’t even review the food itself. Unfair judgement if you ask me. This lechon was unlike any other, so I knew said review had to be biased. That reviewer is missing out! I cannot emphasize enough, how delicious this lechon is. Give it a try! My family will be purchasing our lechon from Eva’s from now on. Thank you, Eva’s!!!
