Nice(and decently fast) service. Great food. Would recommend the cheese and blueberry blintzes as well as the smoked whitefish salad! They’re the real deal!

Pretty good! Matzo ball soup paled in comparison to Canter’s but overall it was great! Pastrami delivered. Waitress(Cynthia) was great!

What a great find on New Year’s Day. No beer, but very good Root Beer to share. The setting, the people, the atmosphere, all make this establishment one of my top 5 places to visit. Heck, we’ll drive all the way from Palm Springs to eat here again. Greeted by happy and friendly people, the lady at the front welcomed us with a hearty welcome and happy New Years greeting. We stumbled by the deli counter, drooling all the while. Landing at our table, and the gentlemen seated so I could watch football. Off to a great start. Another hearty welcome by the bus boy with water, pickles and a cucumber salad that make my mouth water and it didn’t stop. Take your time, read the bullet proof menu, decide what you want and then go thru it again. My wife and I decided to get more appetizers, so we could try a little bit of everything. That was a good choice, and we destroyed all the food on the plates. We asked to keep the menu so we could paroose what we didn’t order. The service provided by the gentlemen waiter was hands down, some of the best service I have received in the service industry. These folks know how to earn their the right to serve food. As the place got busier, we plowed thru the rest of the heaping portions, and decided on desert and coffee to finish the night. A brownie and a fine cup of coffee topped off a bountiful meal, with mouth watering explosions of taste and happiness. If your in the area, stop in, you won’t be disappointed

We decided to try out this café/deli for dinner as a recommendation from one of our friends. Apparently, Factor’s has been at this particular location since 1948 and has been run by the Markowitz family since 1969. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and then taken to a table. They served a plate of pickles while we checked out the menu. Can’t remember what I ordered the last time I was here(either pastrami sandwich or a Reuben), but I remember the meal leaving me very full and the portion sizes were very generous. There was a lovely outdoor area where you can choose to sit outside and enjoy the Los Angeles environment. The staff was friendly and even gave me a t-shirt from their deli. Although we didn’t buy anything from the deli section where they have take out meals, it looked great. They also sold their own restaurant souvenirs! I would recommend it for anybody that’s looking to find a Los Angeles deli that has that old school décor and vibe.

First off, I have been going here for years, since I was a kid, with my grandpa. I always enjoy it, its big, the wait staff is nice, and I really have no complaints. That changed today, for a very specific reason, and hence I knocked a star off of my rating. My daughter has celiac. If you need to understand it better, in sum, its where one does not have an enzyme that processes gluten. It can be very serious; its not some foo foo fad practices de jour by westsiders(which it currently is) it is a disease that effects people in various ways, some very, very serious. I say this because I think Factors(or its manager) needs to understand this, because the series of events that occurred today were insensitive and unacceptable. I urge that if you are gluten intolerant, or have celiac, that you be mighty careful before going here, although they do have a bevy of items that are gluten free – BECAREFUL. This is the reason — my daughter said prior to ordering she couldn’t eat gluten. She asked if they had gluten free bread(which they did and she ordered and seemed fine) but also pancakes and waffles – she ordered a waffle. When the order arrived, the waitress wasn’t sure, so asked a busboy to check, and he came back and said yes. My daughter started eating it, and after a couple of bites and a few minutes, the waitress came over with another waffle, and said she served the wrong one — my daughter was eating a regular one… I was upset, and emphasized this to the waitress, and she called the manager over. The manager(who I believe is from the family that owns it, and I know works hard and hands on) came over and said sorry for the mistake, they aren’t perfect, but they get it 99 percent of the time. Well, I have to tell you, that isn’t an appropriate response, and is unacceptable. Is it ok if you mistakenly server alcohol to a baby and it doesn’t happen 99% of the time? or what about dairy to someone severely lactose intolerant? what about a 99% success rate on people who go in anaphylactic shock when eating shell fish? Get the point – its not good enough, and worse yet, its complete malfeasance for a restaurant to push gluten free products, and have so little sensitivity and knowledge about it. Factors — my advice— either 1. Don’t serve or advertise gluten free things, its much easier than your 1% error rate or 2. go to , read about the disease, get a consultant to train you and your staff as to handling and dealing with celiac people and gluten free, and then you will realize how asinine you sounded today. By the way, nothing was taken off the bill(which I believe 99% of restaurants would have done) and she did enjoy her eventual gluten free waffle(but suffered with stomach aches after). What would have been an appropriate response(other than it never happening) – «I am so sorry, this was a horrific mistake, here is my card if there are any problems please let me know and we will take care of it.»

Well, this place has the word«famous» in its title and deservedly so. The décor is like a time-warp from the ’50−60s, combined with the dark colors reminiscent of a London cigar lounge… In another era it would’ve been thick with tobacco smoke and I was surprised my meal didn’t come w a snifter of brandy – very Rat Pack vibe but it pulls it off brilliantly! I came here for lunch and ordered the pastrami on rye – an excellent choice but the price is steep: $ 16.95 for the sandwich(which is the standard size breed slice size), a minuscule cup of cole slaw and one pickle, sliced three-ways. Granted, not cheap, but also phenomenal in terms of quality! The pastrami was extraordinary– fresh and juicy; the coleslaw was superb(whatever I got of it) and the pickle was probably the single most delicious pickle I’ve ever had– crispy and not salty. This being Jewish place, food is kosher, literally and figuratively. Apparently, I’m not the only one who likes the pastrami here– the walls are covered floor to ceiling w celebrity endorsements, everyone from Mohammed Ali to the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen have eaten here and enjoyed it. So quality and ambiance: 5 huge stars. Even the steep price would’ve been justifiable if the portions were just a tad more generous. Still, this place rocks and I’d return(but not frequently)

Comparing deli’s in LA is like comparing Mexican food — no matter what it’s going to be pretty good and most likely better than anywhere else. However, there are still important distinctions to make, so let’s begin. Factors makes a Reuben that rivals that of any other deli in LA, but when you order it to go, they package it in an air-right plastic container so that the once toasty bread gets wet and soft with condensation. There’s an easy solution to this — wrap sandwiches in paper ad foil! That said, they make a pretty decent matzoh ball soup(not like Bubbie’s, but close) that kick’s Canter’s soup’s ass. One tip– if you’re ordering take-out, park in the gas station next door, pop your head in, and ask if you can leave your car while you grab your din-din.

I first tried Factor’s a few years ago while staying at the Residence Inn across the street. I had seen good reviews for it and I’m a big fan of Jewish delis so I decided to stop in. I was HOOKED! During that first trip to LA I ended up stopping in twice because I loved it so much. This past month, on another trip to the LA area, I made the 30 minute trip across town just to get my Factor’s fix. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. I’ve tried a few different sandwiches now and they are phenomenal. They are piled high with very good quality meats and cheeses. Most recently I ordered their reuben and half a sandwich was more than enough to fill me up! Their soups are also fantastic. The chicken noodle is to die for! The prices are fairly reasonable, though, be warned: it’s not worth it to order half a sandwich(unless you’re getting their soup and half a sandwich special). During my last trip I wanted to order only a half with potato salad since I knew I could barely finish a half of one of their sandwiches. However, there was only a couple dollar difference between the half and the whole, so I decided to just take the other half home with me for a couple dollars more. The service is always very friendly. When you arrive you’re treated to their homemade pickles, which are delicious! Factor’s also has an outdoor seating area you can request if the weather isn’t too hot or too cold. Overall, I highly recommend Factor’s for tourists and locals alike!

My husband and I were looking for a quick bite to eat for dinner last night and chose to eat at Factor’s. When we came in, the place was pretty filled(not overcrowded) which was a good sign. It is a casual, cozy deli. We were immediately seated and greeted. I am usually not a fan of cucumbers, but their pickled cucumbers that they serve you when you’re seated are quite good. I was super hungry so I started with the matzo ball soup which was excellent. The soup was hot, savory, and the matzo ball was done perfectly. I then got a corned beef sandwich with swiss cheese on egg bread with macaroni and cheese as my side. That was one of the best sandwiches that I have had in a long time(really great quality corned beef served on moist egg bread). You could tell that the macaroni and cheese was a frozen brand, but it was still good. My husband got grilled salmon with salad and he enjoyed it. For dessert, my husband got the apple strudel and I got the molten chocolate cake. Both desserts were quite good. Our server was very diligent and got us anything we needed. She was very sweet. This was a good restaurant and if we are in the area looking for a good meal again, then we will be back.

If I could give 1.5 stars, I would. And that’s me feeling nice… I visited this«famous» establishment on the way home from a doctor’s appointment. I wanted a nice sandwich and some soup because I wasn’t feeling the best when I drove past this deli. I was excited to find parking on the adjacent street with money still in the meter. :) Being my first time here, it took me a while to view the menu and see what I wanted. One of the employees behind the deli counter asked(kind of rudely) if I was ready to order even though I was obviously looking at the menu and standing a ways from the counter to signify that. When I finally approached the counter to ask a couple of clarifying questions, the same employee was rude in answering, but he told me what was on the veggie panini. I took my order to go. I wasn’t impressed. And hardly any of the vegetables the employee told me would be on the panini were on there. I especially didn’t like that it had carrots. The bread was just okay. The chips were nothing special. Pretty blah, overall. I am giving the stars for the nice lady who took my payment and the nostalgic candy selection that took me back to childhood… pop rocks! :)

I haven’t been here for a couple of years, until today. It is as good as I remember it: a traditional, old school style New York deli. Today’s visit was with a large family group. We had the back patio space which is private, quaint and cozy. Food was served buffet style on a large table. Fantastic smoked White Fish, smoked Cod and, of course, lox. Fresh fruit, bagels, two different types of cream cheeses and an egg casserole of some that was a bit cripsy on top and delicious as everything else. The smoked fish here is a wow. You want to have NY style deli food in West L.A. This is your go-to place. I promise.
