At the tender age of 13 I abandoned my dance career for the soccer field — little did I know I was actually afraid of the ball flying at my face and I was more competitive in my Calculus class than I was at team sports. Years later during my «club child» phase I realized that dance really was my calling. I can bust a move, I’ll just say that much. Flash forward to today, I stepped into my first«‘real» dance class since that fateful day ten years ago — and it felt good. Sweaty Sundays is a chance for the armature to pirouette next to the professional while pretending to star in an American Apparel ad. Come dressed in your Sunday hipster best and bust a move modern dance style to burn off all of those PBRs you had last night at the Short Stop. We attended the 1:30 class which was slightly less crowded than I imagine the noon class is, but it was for the best. And although I was more than a bit rusty, overall it was a great workout and lots of fun. @ 10 dollars a pop it’s affordable as far as other studios and gyms in the area. So leave your inhibition at the door, sweat to a classic and if anything you then have an excuse to stroll Silverlake in a pair of gold lame leggings and matching headband, can’t hate on that.

Sweaty Sundays. Forget your comfort zone, DANCE. YOUR. ASS. OFF. Couldn’t stop grinning. Burn those calories and stop by Millie’s Café across the street for some Devil’s Mess. $ 10/hit. 12−1p or 1:30 — 2:30p, ample parking. No shoes. Tape up your toes, they get sore the first time.

Amaaaaazing… esp Sweaty Sundays. It’s kinda like one huge eric prydz dance video audition. It’s usually a full class, which can get overwhelming(and very very sweaty). But the class has a great energy, and the instructor is really cool and great at leading the class.
