Found this place when I was wandering around on our jury duty break. Decent food, reasonably priced and they give a 10% discount to jurors. Also a great tranquil atmosphere if you just want to relax for an hour. Will definitely be back.

An inexpensive place with indoor and outdoor seating(outdoors in a peaceful courtyard, plenty of shade). The menu had a variety of options(pasta, salads, tacos and burritos, burgers, specials, etc.), and there is also a coffee bar. This is a terrific dining option if you’re on jury duty.

Great place to grab a bit to eat for a reasonable price. Take a seat and enjoy your meal in the peaceful courtyard overlooking the beautiful cathedral. If you are in the area on jury service, Galero does offer a discount for jurors.

I was in from out of town visiting and decided to go see the cathedral, when I came across this gem! Their trio salads are to die for, amazing quality, fresh ingredients, zesty, refreshing, and healthy! The staff was so friendly, particularly Martha, she was super helpful, enthusiastic, and just lovely. The prices? Forget about it! Very low prices, top quality for a great price. This grill is a MUST!

Ya pretty good breakfast! Forgot to take a pix! Oh well must have been hungry. Lol. Had the eggs breakfast with bacon. It was good and not too much food. Hubby had salad out of the cooler(10:45), and an omlet. He said it was nice, grilled onions and cheesy! So we are now stuffed. Now shortly after 11:00 they put out then lunch salads. Choice of 3 for $ 9.00 yumm. Soups and wraps and sandwiches. Pretty good variety.

This awesome little café, tucked within the Cathedral Plaza, is one of the few places in the civic center part of downtown LA to get fresh, inexpensive breakfasts and lunches. They have lots of salads and sandwich options, and simple breakfast choices like eggs and toast or breakfast burritos. The quality is excellent for the price, and you can eat in the peaceful, pretty courtyard outside the Cathedral. If you only have a short lunch break and you are at the courthouse for jury duty or some even more unpleasant reason, have your lunch here and take a minute to relax.

I ordered a burrito. Bad experience, but that doesn’t go for all the foods that they sell. I was in downtown for jury duty. I ordered a chicken burrito. It came with 3 sides: sour cream, guac, and salsa. The«salsa» was just chopped up tomato, onion, and little fragments of jalapeño. The burrito was so liquidy that all the liquids had settled to the bottom making the tortilla and paper wrapper come apart. It was like a school cafeteria burrito, which is fine! No problem. My issue was that I bit into about an inch and a half long, broken piece of chicken breast wishbone. I’ve traveled to many different countries, I’ve eaten at some pretty ghetto places where I had to watch out what might be in my food. I just don’t think this place should be one of those places. With that said, other foods on plates looked decent. I personally wouldn’t order a burrito.

This is a nice lunch spot in the peaceful Cathedral area across from the Civic Center. There is a nice assortment of salads. I like the quinoa and kale salad(with golden raisins and almonds) I have also had the arugala with sun dried tomatoes, but it was a bit over dressed for my taste and had a tad too much garlic in the dressing. The sandwiches are good. There is always a couple of pasta and pizza choices. The pizza slices are large. They also have a grill and serve burgers and chicken. Had the roasted chicken breast with rice and beans today. It was quite good. It gets pretty busy around noon.

My favorite lunch spot. Very reasonably priced, delicious food, and peaceful ambiance. I love the kale and farro salad. Service is always great too! Adrian is always providing exceptional customer service!

Subpar food. Won’t return here and they don’t validate parking. Cafeteria style. Tuna melt not satisfying. Nice garden setting outside to dine.

A hidden gem downtown. The food is good, not great, but the location and price make this a place to try. I went with a group in search of a quiet place to have a meeting, and this place fit the bill. We have been to the café in the courthouse too, but that is most definitely not quiet. We all had the breakfast panini. Yummy and made to order. It was a little slow, so not sure if it’s good when you are in a hurry. Will go back for lunch to see if maybe more staff working then

The Galero Grill stands out as an oasis in the food desert known as the Civic Center!(No proper restaurants around, only County run cafeterias and a depressing mall on 1st street with a couple of fast food joints.) First, let me give a shout out to my two favorite employees, Alice and Julio, who are friendly and enthusiastic employees of the Grill. Their warmth is genuine and delightful. The food is fresh and tasty, and the chefs are willing to accommodate special requests. In addition, sitting outside among the beautiful landscape and tranquil grounds of the Cathedral is a welcome respite from the day to day grind of work.

I ordered the turkey pesto panini. It was delicious. Price was reasonable too. I think it was $ 6.50. And it came with chips. :)

This restaurant is located on the second level of the Our Lady of the Angels cathedral, across the street from the building I work in. There are a lot of marginally acceptable cafeterias in these government buildings, but I really enjoy this place. It can be a bit pricey, but if you stick to the soup and pizza slice combo special for lunch, you won’t be disappointed… as long as you remember it’s cafeteria food and not a gourmet café.

3.5. I went twice this week: once to scout, and once with my friend, who had a meeting at the Cathedral. I got a panini one day; the chicken pesto pasta special the other. Both meals were comparable in terms of price to other places in the area, and the food uses lovely fresh ingredients(the tomatoes on my pasta were sweet and delectable). And there is a charming garden in the same plaza, through which you can stroll if you have extra time. Note the pasta took a little long, but they made it to order. So if you are limited on time, go with the paninis or the pizza. This will go into the rotation, for days when I don’t feel like DASHing.

Decent cafeteria style food. Staff is friendly. This is a nice location located in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels plaza. It is a nice quiet location to have lunch. On the weekend, it is mostly the church crowd after mass or visitors visiting the cathedral.

New job, new area, new eats. I start off my eating journey of my new surroundings with a review of this place. They have paninis, pizzas, and sandwiches. The paninis are very fairly priced at $ 6.50. It also comes with a side of chips(you can substitute for salad). I got the pastrami, with a side of chips. And since I have no self control I got a cup of minestrone soup too. The soup was pretty good rich hearty and full of crap. The sandwich itself was excellent. It had all the components you look for in a pastrami sandwich which is a generous amount of meat and zero veggies. And the chips were just chips. There is also an outdoor seating area which is very nice and relaxing since the surrounding area is super clean and quiet. So there you have it. 4 stars for convenience, price, relaxing environment, and cause I’ll be back.

As others have noted, this place is located within the courtyard of the Catholic Church. The views are truly amazing here and if you’re looking for a safe-haven from the grittiness of DTLA, it is well worth it. The food is exactly what you’d expect from a cafeteria. Reasonably priced, regular fair including sandwiches, burgers, some quesadillas, and chips. I think I got a sandwich and some chips, which tasted exactly like a sandwich and chips from any cafeteria anywhere in the Country. So clearly you’re not here for the food, but so long as you know what you’re about to get, you won’t be disappointed.

Tucked in the plaza next to the cathedral and not really visible from the street, Galero offers passable food with a tranquil, outdoor seating area. It’s very convenient for those visiting the court or county buildings. My cochinita pibil was decent but the rice and beans were weak. At $ 9 including a drink it was a bit overpriced but seemingly reasonable given the location.

Overall: Best to come here if you don’t have time to walk anywhere else. The Cathedral’s cafeteria is outfitted with a sensible taste. I found the service a-ok, the food was a-ok, and the seating as a-ok. It didn’t break expectations… EXCEPT for the prices which are, Thanks be to God, reasonable. Afterall, I thought I was going to pay Dodger-stadium prices, like a cup of water for $ 2.59…just for the cup, or a pizza slice for $ 9.95, and $ 1.75 for 3 or more additional pepperonis thrown in. NO! this place doesn’t charge such ridiculous prices. So that’s a very good thing. By the way, I’ll put this tidbit as a quik tip, but I’ll mention it again here: Beware – Kitchen closes @2pm! But the place stays open until 4pm.
