Came here to watch a soccer game last week with a few friends! Chill vibe, cheap drinks! I got the 2 for one, beer and shot special! Good deal. It was a good night. Perfect for a casual hangout spot!

All I have to say is — good luck!!! $ 5 specials will have you waking up very confused the next morning. Very fun place, small, but fun!

Came here to meet some friends for a drink and was a little surprised this place was chosen. There’s nothing really special about it other than it’s one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest place to get a beer around, in its overly gentrified neighborhood. As a Dodgers fan, I definitely appreciated all the Dodgers décor but at the end of the day, I felt like I was drinking a beer at my first stop while bar hopping in Tijuana. This is the kind of spot that I would only really go to if I lived in the area, as parking is awful. Or if I get lucky enough and find parking, may be stop by before or after a Dodger game. Other than that I don’t see myself returning. If you are looking for the semi-hipster vibe that many associate with Echo Park these days, may I suggest that you go to my favorite spot very close by, the Shortstop.

Fun, cheap spot to grab a few drinks with friends. its tiny so the only time i would ever recommend to go is during the day. grab late lunch at any of the nearby taco places around and top up it off here. free tacos just ask or get really waisted lol $ 4.00 combo cant beat that. but please be warned if you go fri-sunday or during the dodger games you will wait in line.

Gold Room is still one of the best bars in EXP… despite the damn hipsters moving in. Can’t beat the house special, domestic beer & a shot of tequila for $ 5! Sad to see they did away with the free tacos but glad this bar is still around.

Went with my hubby to check it out. Had been wanting to go for a while. We read an article that it’s one of the top rated dive bars in L.A. Well what a disappointment! This bar is so over rated. Not what we expected. It is tiny in there, literally a small sized bedroom. Music from a jukebox, not my kind of music. Not my kind of scene. Only good thing about this place were the attentive bartenders and cheap drinks. But if you don’t mind waiting in line outside for what seemed like an hour or sitting next to a group of annoying, unattractive, group of girls trying way to hard to get attention, then this is the place for you. Like my hubby said, «this place sucks».

Great place! The music is on point, the vibe is good and the drinks are cheap. What else can we ask for?! just get there early to make line cause it does fill up quickly and due to capacity issues there is a line and a wait

I met my friend up here and we had a ball The drinks were good and it was packed. it’s pretty small in there. A «Cheers» kind of bar. They played music on the juke box. I notice people were eating alot of peanuts. So i think you get peanuts with your cocktail. I love the strong drinks. I didn’t eat there. Oh yeah meter parking but free on sundays

Parking: good luck :(totally hard to find parking in the area, I parked at a meter a few blocks away Came here on a Thursday night, not sure when they do tacos with their $ 5 special :/but their specials were really cheap, you get a shot of tequila and a beer, and they had loads of salted peanuts. The bar was crowded, had a hard time finding seats with my crew. The crowd was loud. The bartender also gave my friend the wrong change and it got a bit awkward cause she knew she gave the wrong change but was a little ratty about it. It’s a cool divey bar… probably a little too crowded and loud for my taste.

*Sigh of relief* I was here about a week ago and boy was it great. Still the same laid back vibe as before minus the overcrowding. I noticed a new bartender(didn’t get her name) and she was great. We fist bumped a couple times and she can definitely stir up a very potent Old Fashioned. Kudos to you ma’am. Tip: Now that they enforce the capacity it might be a little harder getting in passed 9:30 p. m especially on weekends. A line is formed outside and if you’re lucky you wont have to wait long.

Why come here well you can have a great time for $ 20.00 get the special which is a shot n beer. Small unassuming place. Get here early or stand in line gor an hour. A mix of hipsters n Latinos hangout here. By the time i left i was told i could have had some taco which is included in the special. Also i was offered drugs evertime i went to the bathroom, i dont no if these people wanted to party or sell it to me. I don’t do drugs so go to bathroom with a buddy. I will go back.

My favorite Cholo bar in the greater Hollywood area. Can get crowded but they offer a $ 6.00 beer plus a shot of tequila which makes you overlook all of cons. Pros Friendly staff, free tacos, free peanuts, $ 6 beer + 1 shot Try the micheladas. Cons, overcrowded, nefarious looking cholos(which aren’t a problem if you bring a dodgers hat or raiders shirt.)

Quintessential L.A. spot in the heart of Filipinotown. I bought in my 27th birthday there, real chill spot. Ideal for the pre-game sesh. I definitely recommend this spot if you’re coming from out of town, not touristy at all.

This is a great place to start a knife fight on any night of the week. The beer /shot combo is great, and the peanuts are almost tasteless, but have enough salt to imitate actual flavor when you’re drunk. I haven’t been able to walk into the bathroom when the guys are selling blow in back, but have heard stories from friends that their stuff is quality. The only thing that sucks is the line, as well as the people in the line. Great place to troll the Jukebox.

Shot of tequila and beer $ 4(pbr and non-patron tequila) 4 beers on tap Patron on tap Full bar Had to wait approx 10 minutes outside(like a club, but it’s not… It’s a bar. A fairly small bar. I didn’t really like this part of my initial visit only bc I was alone and I just wanted to go somewhere different and a place to just grab a quick drink after being at work all day. It didn’t help when a group of girls walked straight up to the bouncer/security guard and handed him comida and all four girls were able to enter the bar without a wait. Granted, I know they probably were regulars, lol. I was let in a minute afterwards. The place is intimate… okay for groups if you’re able to get a table before hand. There is seating along the wall and around the bar. About 5 tvs to gaze at. Peanuts in bowls. Noise level is loud… But you can hear yourself(and your surrounding peers talk), lol. Music is fun and upbeat old school rock, really all types of music! Stuff my parents probably grew up on … R&b, dance, funky stuff, lol. Oh, disco! Hence the name, «gold bar»?! cool star ceiling lighting above the tables that are placed near the long walk on the right and hand side upon walking inside. Black light planetary artwork on the ceiling above the bar area. LA dodger decorations stung up along with mirrored side of the bar. I guess it’s an okay place to go to if you’re by yourself. No one to really talk to since everyone who is here came in groups… But isn’t that how it normally is? Good thing was that I was able to immediately find a seat at the bar right when I walked in. I would come back for the good deal that they have on a beer and a shot of(I think it was called ‘Ciro’ tequila) lol. The music sure is funny.(Funny in a good way). Oh yeah, there is also a couple street food vendors nearby if someone in your group is hungry. Hot dogs, regular or bacon wrapped or cheeseburgers or burritos or tacos… The choice is yours! Free entry, street or lot parking.

Long line during Saturday night and it really wasn’t that fun. Lots of bros. But came here to meet up with some friends, left for an hour to hit up Short Stop and Little Joy, then came back to Gold Room to reunite with the crew only to find they wouldn’t let people back in at 1:30. What?! That’s 15 minute too early, if you ask me. But whatever. Now I know not to bother coming back. No matter what day or time it is. No thanks.

The Gold Room is a staple dive bar of Echo Park. And it is what it is. It’s a no frills place, good for mild amusement and a good spot to start an evening out and return to during the end but I’d be hard pressed to spend more than an hour here. If I were to rate the value of their recently slight more expensive $ 5PBR/Taco/Shot of tequila deal(it for a time was $ 4), then that is simply a 5-star deal. But I am no longer in college and the allure of PBR and cheap tequila for a full evening is not enough to sustain me for a full evening anymore. It’s a place I’ll happily return to, but it is not the sort of place I’ll offer up as my first suggestion.

The Gold Room… one of the trendiest yet hip dive joints around! Loud, crowded with Dodgers fans(especially after a game) this is one place to definitely check out if you are in the area… as if there aren’t enough bars in the surrounding area! The Gold Room is located in gentrified Echo Park. Very small inside, good luck trying to get in after hours, as this place always has a long line that can stretch a few businesses! Once inside, well, it don’t get any better, as you have barely any room to move your elbows! If you are lucky to find a place to sit, well, you are one of the lucky ones! The few time I have came, I have been fortunate enough to find a place to rest and enjoy my imbibing! They do have quite a mixture of music playing. My first time here, they started off playing some Notorious B.I.G. and next played Chalino Sanchez! Only in Echo Park! The reason for the crowdiness of the Gold Room? The $ 4 beer with a shot of tequila special! Hey, it is the best special for your imbibing needs! They also do give peanuts for your eating pleasure. Yes, they also do have free tacos, but the few times I have came I haven’t been lucky to get any! Boo! My guess is that people come mostly for the awesome drink special! There is no cover charge to get in… the only charge is the long wait. I once waited almost an hour to get in! Regardless of the size and the wait, I have had some pretty good times at the Gold Room. And I am sure you will too! Other reviews I have read have knocked this place… I just cannot! I will boost my review up to a 5 star if I can ever get my hands on them free tacos everybody has been raving about!

One of my favorite dive bars! This a great place to start the night. We came here first then walked over the The Short Stop after a few drinks. They served relatively big $ 5(strong) margaritas. The Gold Room is decked out with Dodger flags and gear and I can see this being a popular place before a game. It is a dive bar so it’s basically a small hallway but we didn’t have trouble moving around. I’d recommend coming here before 10pm because it probably hits capacity quickly. Coming back for those margaritas ;)
