This is a hidden gem of culinary heaven! If you are in the area… even if you’re not, come and try this food. I’m at a loss for words at how amazing this food is. Everyone needs to experience this foodgasm before they die. If not, you will forever be on the limbo of bland food and unhappiness. Cursed to walk through the underworld with tastebuds that hate you and a stomach that will growl for eternity. Thank the gods of new and old for this treat! Ok so it’s a full 24 hours later and I’m still raving about this place. I had so much leftovers that I’m having them for lunch. This may turn into a biweekly stop, for a cheat day. I’m from Mississippi and this is the closest if not better than some of my family’s cooking. The seating is family style so you get to know the other dining patrons. But that’s not a bad thing. It makes you feel as if you are at home and just sharing a great meal with your close friends and family.

Best souls food in LA hands down!!! And it’s a big plus that it happens to be the cheapest soul food in LA. Great overall place to eat at, and the employees will have you laughing your entire meal. Granny’s Kitchen has a great«at home» feel.

If I can give 10 stars I would. Hands down the best soul food place in LA. Southern hospitality gives me the feeling of being at my grandmas house. And the food is better! Come HERE if you’re in LA.

Located near 54th and Central, the place is almost overlooked. However I went in and had a meal and it was fabulous, Tastes like granny is serving it at home, My food was hot, I had cabbage, fried chicken, and sweet potatoes. All of my food was hot and seasoned to the bone. Atmosphere is not the best, but you will come for the food and good pricing. Best part is the owner Eric is right there to get it right for you if something is wrong. Granny kitchen is a winner.

This place is hidden in a small shopping center, but please don’t pass it by. The food was sooooo good. We’ll seasoned(not too much but just right) how soul food should be, the yams and dressing was the bomb. The turkey wing fell off the bone. The customer service is great and the prices are far cheaper than other soul food places like carolyns. This place reminds me of the old school M & M soul food. My new soul food spot.

In the dictionary under soul food is probably a picture of this place. Turkey wings were very juicy. Cabbage was awesome. Must try the daily specials.

I could come here every day and eat. I don’t even have the exact word to describe this place and their food, all I know is this granny kitchen is the best thought the place is quite small and crowded yet they served great food. Turkey leg and rice plus a yummy bake chicken and mac n cheese, so good. Wish I live next to this restaurant, sad to say I’m not. Hmmm I would love to come next Friday.

This is a little spot in the hood that has home-cooked Food of all kinds. The menu is different and they have specials every day so you might want to call before hand. 323−231−2141 I had the liver and onions collard greens and yams and it was off the chain! Eric and his staff are friendly and aim to please. If you don’t like something let them know and they will get it right. Good people good food and a good price. They have chicken wings and Waffles everyday for breakfast I have yet to try it what I heard from my co-workers that it is awesome and ican’t wait to try.:-)

Good soul food is very hard to find in Los Angeles. I had a thick delicious meatloaf, sweet yams, black eyed peas, a succulent cornbread muffin and a nice kool aid to wash it down. A great restaurant starts with the customer service, and that alone was 5 stars. If there was another location closer to the freeway, it would be alot busier. But as a mom and pop shop, they can provide quality food without a constant line out the door. I will be coming back soon, maybe Thursday ahah

Super bomb soul food place. Do not be deterred by the lack of atmosphere. This is some of the best soul food I’ve had and so unsuspecting! This place is a great deal. I got: 2 pieces fried chicken(made to order), a generous helping of collard greens, and a generous helping of Mac and cheese with cornbread and a drink all for $ 9. Whaaaaaaaat?! The chicken was very good. Moist. Tasty batter, crispy on the outside. The collards were some of the best I’s ever had. Flavorful, with a hint of spice. The Mac and cheese was soooo delicious and I generally am never impressed with mac and cheese. This Mac and cheese had complexity with pepper(and white pepper?) and some savory flavoring that seemed a bit in the realm of umami. Yes, it was strangely delicious. And then the cornbread, holy s#!t! Did they make it with lard? It was so moist and delicate, yet toothsome, and perfect for sopping up that collard juice! I have to say, I was not expecting this place to be as delicious as it ended up being. And the gentlemen working were very nice and lovely. This is a spot not to be missed on your journey through S LA.

I have definitely had better, but this place works, as there is no other soul food nearby. Its in a dinky shopping center in a dinky space that makes you not want to eat the food. I tried it because of you, Unilocalers. 8 bucks got me one pork chop, delicious yams, and rice and gravy – (and a 12oz drink: Kool Aid, lemonade, or sweet tea). Notice the only thing I said was delicious were the yams. It’ll do, but not worth going back.
