I went to Grey Goose to have a couple of vintage watercolor paintings re-matted.(size 16 by 20) They were in great frames and the artwork was in fine condition. The mats had yellowed based upon the age. I walked in with the frames under my arm. I showed the gentleman the two watercolors in the frames… I asked for a price for the re-matt work. He said $ 50 each. Total of $ 100 for two mats(this did not include acid free mats– those were going to be additional) I said HUH? :) Before going to Grey Goose, I called a couple of framing stores in Los Angeles and had a notion of how much it would cost. But, Grey Goose was the closest framing location so I decided to go there first… big mistake. So I informed him that Downtown Framing Outlet quoted a price at a friction of his quote. Immediately, he starts to back pedal off the price. He drops the price in half :) Then the gentleman starts to tell me about his expensive laser cutting machine. I informed him… my goal is to get the best price for the re-mat job. So, I get back in my car and drive to Downtown Los Angeles to Downtown Framing Outlet. They were the nicest people. They did my re-mat work for $ 27 dollars for both frames… I selected the color buff… acid free. I would never do business with Grey Goose. If I did not know better… he would have taken me.

People often don’t understand that custom framing is expensive. I’m a photographer and I’ve been to plenty of 5 star frame stores that have great prices, so I know what the general costs are. Grey Goose is NOT overpriced at all. I paid about $ 400 for a beautifully framed photograph that was larger than 24“x36″. From past experiences, I paid about the same for inferior quality frames. Eric, the gentleman who works there, is an absolute gem. I wanted to add a subtle border along the inner side of the frame, and he gave some great suggestions. The final result was an absolute masterpiece, and Eric gave us unparalleled service, even coming in during the weekend to meet our deadline. He is an absolute sweetheart, and takes immense pride in his job. I run a business myself, and it’s hard to find employees like him. The owners of this place should take care of him. He’s fantastic.

I recently got my first frame back from Grey Goose on La Brea and I was very pleased. When I dropped off the artwork Eric helped me choose out a great metal frame. He said it would be done in two weeks and it was done a day earlier, which is always nice. I picked up the frame and Jamie helped me out. He was also a fun guy to talk with about frames and different kinds of UV glass. Overall, a very pleasant customer service experience, and extremely happy with their work. I will go back here for my future framing projects.

Had several posters framed at this facility and each and every time the work has been exceptional. If you value good quality materials and craftsmanship this is a place for you. If price is an issue the owner will work with you to select a frame/style that is close to you budget.

They do nice work but are horribly expensive. «if you have to ask, you cant afford it» would certainly apply to Grey Goose.

Do not take anything of value here unless you’re satisfied that their insurance is adequate, which it wasn’t in my case. It’s been a year since they tore my mint vintage Otis Shepard Catalina poster. I had to hire an attorney, and they’re so lame that they never showed up in court, so they lost by default. I am about to file a summary judgement but then I’ve got to try to collect. This was a $ 1,255 framing job — for that kind of money you’d think they’d be careful enough not to tear the art work. DONOTTAKEANYTHINGOFVALUEHERE.

Probably one of the coolest people I have ever dealt with. Very knowledgeable and patient with the process. I got a my pieces framed and done in about 8 days when they said it might take up to 15 days. Pretty nice to get stuff quick!
