Havana Nights at La Descarga Elite Event

Awesomeness to the awesomest degree!

The venue was great! We were lined up on the street and let into a tiny door, which led to a flight of stairs, which led to a darkened hallway, which led to a small room. In the room we were greeted and given the low down on the festivities and then the coolest part… the doors of a wardrobe/​closet were opened, hanging clothes were parted, and we walked through into a really, really cool bar/​club. Wow! What a fun start to the evening. La Descarga definitely had a cool vibe.
The booze flowed freely the entire evening in the form of two Starr Rum based cocktails, The Starr Stealer and The Starr Daiquiri… both were lovely, although the Star Stealer was by far my fave! The bartenders were working hard and the drinks were delicious. A representative from Starr Rum was in the cigar lounge pouring rum samples and talking about his product, which was very interesting.
The food from the No Jodas truck was yummy. I had the chicken, rice, and beans. The portion was huge and the food was hearty, which was great because it soaked up all of that free flowing rum I was consuming. I also had an order of plantains which were delicious!
As with any fantastic Unilocal event I met some awesome new friends, hang out with old friends, and got a chance to say hi to some Unilocalers I haven’t seen in a while. All in all another awesome event. Many thanks to the always amazing Katie B. for organizing this awesome event!!!
