Great little gallery. Convenient location. Great service GALLERY This little gallery is a bit unique. It has a nice, intimate feel because it’s tucked away from direct view of the street. The gallery itself is very modest in size. SERVICE Everyone here is nice and welcoming. PARKING Parking is a problem with the majority of galleries out here. Fortunately, this is not the case with HCG. Parking is available on Robertson and in the residential area on Hillsboro. Not bad at all.

We visited this gallery to see the Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary celebration. The space is nice and intimate and in the center of it all are prints on sale from previous shows. The Legend of Zelda was a collaborative art show, and the gallery was filled with interesting paintings, sculptures, even jewelry honoring the video game. My favorite was the Audrey Kawasaki piece — oil and graphite on wood. Some tips: This is off a busy street and we parked in a residential area called Beverlywood on Hillsboro Street. Only open Wed — Sun. The restrooms in the common middle area have showers(just an interesting tidbit, not really a tip).

I have had this place bookmarked for a long time but I couldn’t motivate myself to drive out this far until they had their Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Art Showcase. I got there as soon as possible on opening night, but the line was already really long! Thankfully my friends had gotten there really early and were at the beginning of the line. Eventually it was our turn to go in – first you walk through an open space, then there was this foyer with fruits/appetizers on a table for us to enjoy, and finally was the exhibit room with all the art. There was also a nice rooftop area where people could hang out and talk. The art room had Avengers art from floor to ceiling and it was wonderful! The gallery was crowded and it was difficult to take pictures of the prints, but I loved walking around and seeing all the talented artwork on display. VIPs got to purchase prints first, and then we were called to the order counter by the number that we had signed in at. Thanks to my friend I was able to buy two wonderful prints. Not only do we get to walk away with these limited edition prints, but we also got exclusive chocolates as a thank you! The chocolates had different designs and flavours to correspond with the different Avengers. I got the Iron Man chocolate, which was dark chocolate with strawberry jelly filling and pop rocks, with Tracie Ching’s «Avengers: Iron Man» printed on the cover. The Hulk one was milk chocolate with peanut butter cream, pretzels, and granola; Ian Glaubinger’s «Smashus Maximis» was printed on the cover. The fan favourite of the night was the amazing«The Age of Ultron» by Matt Ferguson, printed on metal. It looked absolutely beautiful and there were only 10 available, but alas it was too expensive. I had to content myself with a screen print, which was much more affordable. I also bought 100% Soft’s «Age of Ultron Kitchen Essentials,» which was adorable. Truck Torrance(aka 100% Soft) was there and even took a picture with me next to his piece. Unfortunately he left before I was able to get my print and ask him to autograph it. I am so grateful to this gallery for hosting this exhibition and giving me this opportunity to own two amazing Avengers: Age of Ultron prints. I definitely recommend checking them out and also seeing what future exhibits they are holding.

Update: Adam from the Gallery was kind enough to contact me and help make up for the incident. I’m very pleased with his customer service. I also ordered from the store and got 2 pieced from the American Horror Story collection. Can’t wait to get them. thanks!

I came by on a Thursday afternoon, around 4pm. The Gallery is within a purple building, guarded by a gate. The gate was unlocked and we walked right in. We found our way to the Gallery and was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance. It was clean, quiet, but fun. The artwork(American Horror Story exhibit) was fantastic, beautiful, glorious! I ended up purchasing a Game of Thrones print for $ 30 and the guy working there was very helpful. There are lots of fun and modern prints for sale along with the pieces on display. We saw lots of Marvel movie, Star Wars and more popular prints. Street parking was easy to find and plentiful.

We have been here since 11:15 waiting for them to open. There website says 11:00 but two hours later it’s still closed. I have called no answer. I have sent two emails and no response. At least an additional 12 people have come and left. This has been a horrible experience driving over an hour for nothing! Not to mention I have 3 disappointed teenagers

As I started to write this I am wondering how the heck have I not reviews HCG yet? I have been here for multiple shows and have caught up and hung out with the crew at Wondercon. I must say the whole staff here rocks. They all need guitars! But for real, this place knows how to put on shows and entertain their guests and while it can be a mad house still somehow to hold things together. Last night I went to the Avengers Age of Ultron show and it was HUGE. Long lines to get in and just packed. But HCG rocked it and so did all their artists. I love this place and Adam and his wife(I dont want to misspell her name) are awesome people. If you are a fan or you have been here before you know how great this place can be. Always smiling faces, ice cold beers, cool themed mix drinks and some munchies to eat while you check stuff out or wait for your order. CHEERSGUYS! Congratulations on everything you have accomplished and here is to years of continued success.

Great little gallery catering to the wants/needs of those with a more nerdy taste. The people working there were very friendly and their shows are always rotating. Took me a little while to get my print that I bought, but that is generally the case anywhere you go. Loved the atmosphere and the people there though.

My friend brought me here for a art show/classic arcade event. I had so much fun it took me back to my childhood. The staff was so nice and the verity of items they had was incredible

One of the biggest issues with shopping in LA for art is what I would call the«snob factor»…and yes, even nerds(perhaps especially) can be snobby. So experiences at other galleries who shall remain nameless… have not been great. Enter Hero Complex. Run by a friendly, engaging and actually HAPPY staff — who love art, cult cinema, animation, toys and everything you basically loved growing up that had to do with Pop Culture — when you enter these doors, you’re in great hands. Most importantly, art is both affordable and curated by an amazing eye so you don’t end up with pockets of mediocrity and then great and them garbage. It’s all pretty much great. Exhibits are eclectic and diversified. Worth regular visit.

Great art gallery that rivals Gallery 1988 at times and great space and parking all around! Very nice people who work there that really engage with their customers and appreciates them with just more than drinks sometimes even buying pizza for the die hards who wait all day for a show! LA is lucky to have them!

I’m really disappointed with this place, after a long delayed set of prints(2mos.) finally arrived I made the drive out to pick them up only to find out they are closed. There was no notice on the door, nothing on their main twitter feed, nothing on facebook, nothing on the outgoing message… the only thing that let me know what was going on was a reply to someone else from a week ago that said«We are closed for the next 2 weeks, sorry.» I’m sorry but you just don’t do business this way.

Sure I’m biased but there’s a reason to be; these are people who genuinely care about art and artists. You can go to a lot of the other galleries around town but they don’t put the same time of consideration and attention to detail that HCG does. Needless to say the customer service and KINDNESS the gallery offers goes above and beyond. Because of their great relationships with artists they’re also able to put up a lot of great art. GUYS. THEYHAD A JAWS Exhibit… with a FELTJAWS. AND?! They had an aweseome Kubrick, Del Toro, Lynch, and Scott show?! I MEAN… COMEON! This is great stuff! Do yourself a favor and check out their website; they have their upcoming shows listed and often a preview of the magic you’ll be witness to. Parking might be a little competitive but luckily, there’s not a lot of parking restrictions. It’s a hidden little gem that you’ll miss driving down Robertson, but like a diamond in the rough, it really does have a lot of treasure inside.
