Got in a little before lunch rush. Ordered ! Get the sauce on the side or else the crispiness will get soggy. I also got the spicy but and wasn’t that spicy and tasted of black pepper way too much… The restaurant seemed more modern and there wasn’t exceptional service – just adequate. Probably won’t come back for the but will try other items on the menu.

Tried the jjajang myun, jjampong, and ttangsuyook during a friday lunch. jjajang myun: noodles were nice and thick, but the sauce was very bland and rather thin. not a fan of their take on jjajang myun. wouldn’t come back to try this dish here. jjampong — much better than their jjajang myun. the broth is thin, but it’s still spicy. nothing memorable though. ttangsuyook– portion is tiny. good amount of meat in each piece, but not much side topping that come with it. i’d skip this place if you can. came here out of convenience since it was across from the grocery store we were at.

Any restaurant where you can get waiter service and a big bowl of noodles for seven bucks is a-ok in my book. I am a big fan of the jjangjjiangmyeon, which is basically pork, noodles, black bean sauce, and onions. Beer is expensive, though.

Great music and lots of open space made feel very comfortable here. I’m not sure what my Korean wife ordered but she was happy.

This place is solid, but today we got a take out tangsuyuk and for some reason, they said they add $ 1 for take outs. I’ve never heard of places that charge extra for take outs?! So beware.

Had the usual Jjajang, jjampong and ttangsuyook Everything was on point! Soup was yummy the sauce was saucy and it was probably one of the BESTJJAJANGANDJJAMPONG. Oh and the noodles were perfect. Ttangsuyook(sweet and sour pork) was good, but not outstanding I wouldn’t go there for that but definitely not a disappointment. This will be my goto Jjajang and jjampong place!

The famous Korean franchise(jjamppong) place. This location is kinda for«trial run» so they have few other new menu compares to the original place. The jjamppong is OK but not too great(A bit salty for my taste). Frankly, a little disappointment. Plus the parking is virtually impossible…

Its really not any different compared to most other Korean-Chinese restaurants. The taste is pretty much the same everywhere. Their tangsuyuk does have a different frying batter so it’s a bit crispier but I would ask for the sauce on the side so that they don’t get soggy. The service was good and the food was filling. I just don’t see anything that’s really *different* about it

Ambiance: very spacious and bright inside, simple menu and limited selections for noodles and side dishes, with pen kitchen area for you to see how the food got cooked Service: waiters and waitresses were very fast Food: in general ok Jjamppongbap — *** spicy noodles soup with pork and squid, rich in flavor, average taste Jajangmyeon — ** dry noodles and dark brown sauce, tasted so so Tangsuyuk — **** sweet and sour fried pork sticks, crispy and tasty, recommend Price: generous portions and decent prices, expect less than $ 15 per person

I found this place on a whim. I wanted to go to Hangari Bajirak Kalgooksoo but it was packed so I came here. It’s clean and spacious. Pop music playing in the background. You get sliced Daikon? radishes and water before ordering. The menu is simple but limited. I ordered beef jjompong. I got my order quickly although I was the only customer at that point. It was good, a bit bland but you can add condiments that are on the table. The soup portion was a lot. I got pretty full. Overall good, cheap($ 5 – 6) filling meal.

i’ve heard this expression where ppl will say something to the effect of, ‘theres never bad pizza.’ or ‘pizza is never that bad’ or something like that. that’s how i feel about hkbj. an apologetic sort of succumbing to an idea of liking something rather than really having any taste for it. i’ve only tried the pork tangsooyook and i found the batter a bit grimy and the texture felt like it was stale. i don’t know, i’ve yet to try good tangsooyook in la so mebe it should be more like 2.5 stars

When you go to the not-Chinese-but-Korean Chinese restaurant you should order what they are known for… noodles with black bean sauce, sweet and sour crispy pork, or spicy seafood noodle soup. Also… This place isn’t geared to be a fancy restaurant. It’s suppose to be a quick and affordable version. The founding chef of this chain restaurant is the cooking chef on one of my favorite Korean cooking shows called«Home Cooking with Mr. Baek(or Paik)». What I am a fan of and tried are the top three mentioned. It’s the basic dishes you should try when going to these type of restaurants(if you go to a famous burger joint wouldn’t you try their burgers first?). On my last visit we ordered: Black bean noodles Sweet & sour crispy pork Beef jjampong(friend who has already tried the main three) The black bean noodles were great! The noodles were soft yet chewy and the pork in the back bean sauce was ACTUAL meat and not bits of fat that other places put in. The crispy pork is covered with flour and potato starch(I think) making it crispier and bit chewier than flour alone. The meat is all white meat hence it can taste a bit dry and like previous reviews… tastes like chicken, but for me I like that I am eating actual pork. Some places put in tiny bits of fatty pork that is over fried and simply gross. The beef jjampong I believe is made for people who cannot eat spicy. It tastes a bit too bland for me and simply tastes like bland beef broth with cabbage, meat, and other vege. If you are craving a quick bite I highly recommend this place.

I learned that this is Chinese food to Koreans, but it’s actually just Korean. Just like how Orange Chicken is Chinese to Americans, but it’s actually American. 2 noodle dishes and a breaded shrimp. Perfect portion to share for 3 at a reasonable casual price less than $ 10. The breaded shrimp should be crispier. My roommate suggested ordering the sauce on the side to keep the crispiness next time. So many other jjampong places in Koreatown, but glad we tried this place! Parking lot is a nightmare.

This place is spacious, clean, and speedy. I only had the jajangmyun here so I can’t attest to the rest of the items on the menu. The menu is a little limited in that they have about three or four noodle dishes and two or three other dishes. The only side dish you get are the yellow pickled radishes(no kimchi in K-town?!). I was a bit off-put by the limited menu and lack of side dishes as I was expecting a full Chinese-Korean restaurant. But the jajangmyun was pretty tasty and big, service was quick, and it was cheap.

3.5 stars. Food was cheap. I think you can’t really get tangsuyuk(sweet and sour pork) for less than $ 10 at most restaurants nowadays. They had the most popular Chinese Korean dishes like tangsuyuk and jajangmyun so I didn’t mind limited items on their menu, but I can see how some people might not appreciate it. Like some other reviewers mentioned, the food is tad bit on the sweeter side — we ordered jajangmyun and tangsuyuk, my favorite Chinese Korean combo. But I found pickled radish balancing everything out pretty nicely. Service was pretty quick. The place was nice and clean. Parking can be hectic, but the strip mall offers valet service.

I think this place is supposed to be like cheap fast-food Korean? If that’s the case, then I can understand why food quality is so poor here. Jjambbong broth tastes like ramen powder. The soup also felt like it wasn’t boiled enough so it tasted clumpy. Same thing with jjajangmyun. Flavor was good but it just tasted like it’s been sitting out for awhile and clumpy. The tangsooyook was decent. I liked how the sauce wasn’t so syrupy. We got another noodle dish that was decent too. This place didn’t give out kimchi, eek! You can park at Zion parking lot bc you probably won’t be able to find one in the plaza.

This is not a bad 3-star review. This is a «the food is really cheap, but decent for the price» 3-star review. As someone who longs for the days long past of $ 4.99 Phở, $ 3 Banh Mi, and $ 5 ddukbokki, Paik’s Noodle House comes pretty close to bringing the cheap eats into the 2015s. For about $ 6 — $ 7, you can get a big bowl of pretty ok jja jja myun or jjam bbong. When people ask you how good it was, you’ll say some variation of: «It’s cheap.» «It’s ok.» «Not bad.» «Pretty decent.» «Not the worst, but not the best.» «I’d probably eat it again.» The flavor is ok overall. For the jjam bong, it tastes a little bit like instant ramen flavoring, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The jja jjang myun tastes a little more legit, but not by much — it’s about two steps up from jjapaghetti. The parking lot is one of those insane K-Town pseudo-valet parking lots where you have absolutely no idea what’s going on. Somehow, you’ll park, you’ll sit down, and have an ok bowl of cheap noodoh.

when an out of town guest states a craving for jjajjanmyun, you do your best to serve. plus you get jjajjanmyun out of it! win win for everyone! what i ate: — beef jjajjangmyun: my friend hit it right on the nose, these are some of the best jjajjangmyun noodles i’ve had! they were chewy, springy, just so good. the sauce was also good, but the noodles were the star of this dish — sweet and sour pork: crispy, but i found the pork to be a bit over cooked and tough to chew. the meat could have been more tender pros: — noodles! i loved the noodles. the jjanjjanmyun was good. i ate the whole bowl — simple menu: literally jjajjangmyun, jjampong, sweet and sour pork, and some chili over fries? great if you’re in the mood for one of these items, but you’re out of luck if youre not. — clean space. simple. — servers were nice enough cons: — ktown parking. you’re stuck valeting it or searching for street parking — if you’re not in the mood for jjajjangmyun or jjamppong you dont have many choices would i come again? sure

This place is just ok. Their menu is really limited which I’m not a big fan of, and their food is mediocre. Service is pretty attentive but seriously I don’t have much to say about this place. The jjamppoing is better at Zzamong, the jjajangmyun is ok(I’m not a big fan of this dish in the first place anywhere), their tangsooyook could be much better, young king makes the better stuff. I tried their bookemmyun noodles, and it’s nothing like the picture, less veggies, definitely no snow peas, and I was disappointed. I don’t see a point in going to this place except for maybe convenience.

Been to one located inside the California market, rodeo galleria and in Buena Park in the mall that has the new H Mart. Compared to all of them, this place is probably the cleanest, biggest and nicest one ever. It’s so clean because they just opened but its hard to keep it this clean I thought. Booths are nice and spacious made with wood. It’s so big! I dont know how many booths ans tables there are but this is probably the biggest HKBJ I have gone to. Workers/servers here are so nice and offer really good customer service. They are always greeting you out loud when you walk in and out of the restaurant and they are always smiling. They are known for their Jjambbong and it was good but it tasted different. I thought it should have a similar flavor/taste as other branches but this branch has different flavor that I was able to tell right away just by eating the soup. I am not saying it didnt taste good, it was just different from the ones Ive had from elsewhere. I think it had a little too much pepper, not sure. Jjajangmyun was OK. Not my favorite but they did have enough jjajang sauce with a lot of veggies and pork chunks. Noodle seemed a little thicker but nonetheless, it wasnt bad. Tangsooyook is different from other Korean-Chinese restaurants too because their fried batter has a lot of sweet rice powder that its not crispy and crunchy like else where. They are rather chewy and sticky if you know what I mean. The sauce was sweet, tangy and a bit sour but thats how its supposed to be! What I would do next time is to ask for sauce on the side. I like my fried pork crispy and I dont really like too much sauce on it so rather dip it and eat it. Amazing customer service and had an awesome dining experience. Will be back next time when I get a crave!
