Hudson news located in the American airlines terminal in LAX(terminal 4) has some employee or staff with very bad customer service, My sister and I normally buy this Belgian chocolates called«Guylan» over the past 5 years since they are not available in my sister ‘s home in Hawaii. We ask one of their staff for help last Friday, 11/14/2014 and she says they don’t carry or sell this chocolates. She was rude and start speaking in foreign language to another employee. I was looking at another shelves and found 2 so I gave 1 to my sister to purchase. Not sure why their employee would not even try to help check their inventory records before telling us they don’t carry this item. They maybe lazy to check but atleast refer us to chocolate sections that are spread out in the store to Check for our selves. I am very disappointed with their staff customer service and I had been loyal customer for many years I also bought items from their airport store in JFK. Hope their store managers will train their sales staff to be more helpful to us tired travellers or customers.

BEWARE of CON. Hudson store in LAX Alaska Airline terminal. I bought water and some medicine. I had two $ 50s and one $ 20 in my wallet. I gave Associate Amalia Godina a $ 50 bill as payment because I debated whether to break it or not. I was given change for a $ 20 not a fifty. When I challenged the shortage Amalia called her manager Ayana Speaks. They counted the change drawer and said I gave them a 20. I absolutely know I gave her a $ 50. That means Amalia switched my fifty for a 20 or the manager Ayana is in on the the theft.

I do understand that businesses have to make money to keep the lights on. What is quite annoying is that I am required by the rent-a-cops of the TSA to throw away any unopened water before I walk through the security check points with an ‘S.’ When you do make it through security and don’t want to drink anything that is served on a plane one of the only options is the ‘Hudson News’ stands. These stands are like 7/11’s they are scattered throughout the United States in Airports. It was early in the morning and nothing else was open so I selected ‘Evian’ water and walked over to the cash register. I was mortified when they told me that the amount due was ‘4.95′ for a water that I could buy at a local Supermarket for $ 1.00. When Hudson News orders they order in bulk, so worst case scenario they are paying maybe M-A-Y-B-E $ 0.50 — $ 0.75 cents a bottle and they turn around and sell this at a 350% — 400% markup. I will never give my business to Hudson News again and if you are reading this I suggest you do the same.

One pack of chewing gum. Good transaction. I would change the brand logo of this place. It feels dated, and I keep thinking of an ice-cream soft-cone when I see it.

For an airport shop, the prices are not as outrageous as one might think, and some of the prices are actually reasonable. A great place to get snacks for the plane because you can buy two bags of snacks for a discounted price. The best part is the staff — very friendly, and asked if the T-shirt I was buying was a gift. They cut the tags for me and it was ready to go. I’d definitely stop by again.

Good place to pick up cold bottled water after passing through the Security checkpoint. I picked up a few bottles to tide me over for the flight to Dulles. All the normal, massively marked up convenience store goodness is available here: bottled water, sodas, snacks, toiletries, books, magazines, newspapers, tourist knick-knacks, and more.

This Hudson News is located in the United Terminal at LAX(Terminal 7). It is your run-of-the-mill airport convenience shop that has many things for your flight and your destination including candy, snacks, gum, medicine, batteries, toiletries, books, magazines, and so on. This is really a last resort for me because the stuff here is so expensive. I usually pack snacks, sweets and gum before I fly, but I did not this time and I had to pay for it. Candy(even small candy) starts at $ 1.50. For travelers with layovers at LAX, it would be nice if this store featured more LA based goods(aside from the usual t-shirt and key chain novelties that the bear the city’s name). Of course, I haven’t seen much regional stuff at other airport terminal convenience stores either. Here are some items to check out in other airports – pecan pralines in Dallas Fort Worth, Philadelphia pretzel in the Philadelphia International Airport and Dunkin’ Donuts in various East Coast airports.
