Their breakfast sandwich with fresh juice and coffee is my favorite breakfast in Los Angeles. If you’re looking for a lite breakfast in a beautiful location with a great staff, you’ve just found it!!!

Great place to kick back and relax while having delicious tea(or coffee if you prefer). Tried the Earl grey crème latte and matcha green tea latte. Both very smooth and refreshing on a cool day.

The staff is a friendly guy — he was cool about me using the restroom without buying something(I bought something anyway to prove I wasn’t a mooch. It helps that it was cold and dark — perfect time for Chai!) This place has fancy liquid soaps. It also shares the retail space with a place called Acne Studios, and no, Proactive is not available there. The Chai was ready within a minute! And the guy was very friendly and charming, almost flirtatious. I definitely would recommend this place to grab a snack or coffee at.

I like this place, the counter set up is a little awkward but you can order from anywhere up there you’d like. The sandwiches are rad and the cold brew is awesome. They use stumptown coffee but make the cold brew in café rather than having it delivered and using the stumptown tap system. I enjoy the tap system but this cold brew is even better.

I was originally planning on going to Classic Coffee, but it was closed for filming. So I went to Verve, but it was packed and there was no where to sit. So I pulled out my phone and Unilocaled the nearest café, and found this cool little place. It’s a small little café that’s easy to pass by if you’re not looking for it. Not a ton of seating, but I still found a spot. Coffee was good, pretty chill vibes(with some strange european? music), and I got my work done. Would go back.

I don’t even like coffee but this place literally serves the best coffee I’ve ever drank. Yummy and goes down so smooth.

This cozy coffee shop is only a few blocks from where I live– thankfully. it is filled with plenty of seating and their breakfast sandwiches are soooo good! I ordered a chai latte, gruyère breakfast sandwich and an OJ for only $ 10(breakfast special)! That is pretty much unheard of in «hip,» new caffes in Los Angeles. Not to mention all of the italians… The staff are very sweet, animated and attentive. Also, free wifi!

They serve stumpdown coffee in dtla, so you can only guess what this café is like– hip and comfortable with minimalist but cute accent décor. Nice place to read a book at!

Very cool café that brings me back to Italy. Great espresso, great panini, great staff. Tons of seating inside and outside. BELLISSIMO!

Gad the service is the same every time — attitude, ambivalence, ignorance. The café itself is beautiful — connected to Acne, modern and hip. The coffee is from Stumptown, so local and $$$$. They have the typical $ 10 sandwich and $ 5 cold brew. Vegan options are lacking. For a local it’s a good place to stop by, for a destination no way. Meters are mad expensive and broadway is a clusterf.

il caffe is a Swedish coffee chain, with the first U.S. shop opened in our very own downtown LA. Stopped in for a study session, and ordered an amazing iced soy mocha. Served in a tall glass with ice cubes, this was the perfect drink on a super hot summer SoCal day. Also tried their proscuitto and cheese panini which was EXCELLENT. Wonderful crispy and chewy bread, with a hint of good olive oil, very flavorful cheese, and quality proscuitto. Loved the ambiance in this café. HINT: The women’s bathroom door pushes IN… sigh. Took me a while to figure that out… :) See you again soon il caffe!

YAY! Found a pretty chill café! Just as a warning, I’m not a coffee connoisseur. I can’t tell what constitutes a great coffee versus simply a good one. But let me tell you, as a amateur café-loving individual, their coffee’s are amazing. It’s the simplicity of their brews and their menu that make this il caffe stand out. There aren’t a lot people and the ambience is super chill. My sister and I came in to study here(we were taking summer classes at a community college), the music and the street sound can get really loud. But the wifi and multiple outlets make up for it. Seats are super comfy and the people that work here are really nice too. The only downside was that there were a lot of flies swarming near the entrance, so that was a bit gross. But if you want some delicious coffee on the go, this is the perfect place! But be prepared to spend a lot of money on it :(. Coffee cost ~ $ 5, so that’s a downside.

You wouldn’t know it, but this Swedish coffee chain skipped New York and opened its first overseas location here in Downtown Los Angeles, and seemed to do a better job at capturing the feel of a relaxed SoCal space than some of our more domestic coffeeshops. A place to lay down(really, there is this long black upholstery indoor, and outdoor, you can laze about underneath tree-shaded parklet on Broadway itself). Big place, peppy Northern European music, great coffee and simple pastries. Wrap-around ceiling windows gives you some airy space to do some people watching.

Awesome spot on Broadway in DTLA nestled next to The Eastern and across the street from Orpheum Theater. Been here several times and tried lattes, a variety of coffee drinks and an assortment of their teas. Everything I’ve ever ordered I would do again. I’m way into great service and atmosphere too and this place has both. Friendly great staff and plenty of windows so if you choose to sit inside you will still get an eyeful of people watching. Outdoor seating too with tables lining Broadway. I give it a huge check it out!

I only got a to-go on cold brew so that’s all I will talk about. My quick and short visit involved fast ordering; there were 2 baristas working at the time(Saturday afternoon). We had a short chat about how the day is going and all and I really liked that. It was really dark inside(black interior) and there weren’t many people in the store. I got my cold brew and left fast. It was good and smooth just the way I like it. Only concern is that I don’t know how long it has been since the brew was made since one of the pitcher’s tape read«2÷9÷15» which meant the cold brew itself was about 5 days old since it was brewed. Not sure about that…

In search of my 100th coffee shop visit and review, I happened across Il Caffe. With a hot sun above, and a hankering to try out a coffeeshop I haven’t previously visited, I entered for a capp. The place is pretty spacious, with a good amount of comfortable seating. It shares a large space with a clothing boutique, semi-walled off, even with a suited guard standing out in front of the clothing racks. The music from the clothing store bleeds into the coffee shop, creating this refreshing upbeat vibe that keeps you awake and happy. The barista was really nice, and as I came during a slow period, we got to talking a little, before he went to pull the shot. Their coffee of choice points to Stumptown, with all the bean bags posted along the walls. Surprisingly all of the tables(but one) were taken by people on their computers or studying. Not surprising, I took the last open table, and began to get some work done. The capp was really smooth, and the shot blended really well with the milk. The upbeat music and open space kept me going, and the cushioned seating made things that much more comfortable. Great to know I can always explore deeper and deeper into DTLA, and always stop by il caffe for a refresher and for some delicious coffee!

Cozy shop that serves Stumptown coffee. Great area to sit and relax or people watch. They also serve healthy juice and sandwiches. Located across Umami burger and walking distance to Urban Outfitter.

Barista was busy talking with his friend so barely paid us any attention. Coffee was good but I didn’t feel like it was worth the $ 4 after that. Probably won’t be coming back.

Broadway Street in DTLA is happening. They are giving that area an entire facelift, and cool little shops like Il Café are popping up in the neighborhood. I came here this past weekend for a quick coffee meet up and the place was easy to find. There are giant windows, plenty of seating, and outlets for people to plug in. They have a little display window case stocked with amazing looking sandwiches that were extremely tempting, but I had to save room for a big dinner planned at Kazu Nori that late afternoon. Towards the back there is a giant wall of floor to ceiling mirrors which gives the effect of a larger space, but it’s also fun to catch people constantly looking at themselves. i was guilty of it too! The service was fantastic, friendly, and engaging. The barista who helped us made friendly conversation and later brought our coffee to the tables for us. The atmosphere is very chill — laid-back, neither quite or loud, and perfect for working or having an intimate conversation. The entire vibe of the place is super COMFORTABLE, although, the high stool chairs are not comfortable at all to sit on. Their iced latte and cappuccino were both great — full of flavor and smooth. Oh, and they have a fantastic music playlist. I also LOVE the cute succulent coffee cup displays on the tables. It’s a nice touch!

I really like Euro caffes because they tend to have really comfortable seats and hip and modern settings and this café is no exception. Located in the Art Deco landmark Eastern Columbia building right next door to the cult Swedish clothing label Acne Studios flagship store, it’s a perfect place to stop in for some java and rest your heels and re-energize after doing some high-end clothes shopping. They serve panini sandwiches and a few croissants and pastries. For the coffee connoisseurs, they serve stumptown roasts. I ordered an Americano while I was waiting for dinner and it was pretty smooth in flavor, very enjoyable. Good to see this place open up in this part of downtown LA. The service is friendly and I’m a fan of the ambiance. I’d come back if in the area again.
