I have been going to many different salons in LA but this salon is my favorite. Young is the hair stylist that I go and she is wonderful. Parking is ok if you go during the morning to maybe around 3 but during the night, there is a restaurant next to the salon which is very popular so the parkig lot is very crowded. Its better to make an appointment and if you are trying to perm or dye your hair, try to bring snacks because they take as many customers they can so it gets delayed and you are going to be hungry. If it wasnt for that, I would give this salon 5 stars.

Kaju is a really wonderful place to get what you want. They are very professional, knowing what will work and look good so they won’t let you damage your hair from a certain hair style or something. However, the workers are very friendly and actually want you to be happy with your hair. When I went in, I was nervous because of their low Unilocal score, but I was very specific with what I wanted and got awesome results. The only downside is that they don’t really speak English so bring someone to translate Korean(it helps a lot). Otherwise, I am extremely satisfied with the results and will definitely visit Kaju again!

I have friends who weren’t happy with this place. As for me, this place’s been so far so good. One thing I really like is stylist do quite more than«one style fits all». It seems all the stylists so far has approached«per case» style.

I’ve been going to Kaju Hair Salon since 2007 for magic perms and my experience today was by far the worst. The prices at Kaju are reasonable and that is why I do not mind a little wait during my perm. Today, I arrived at 9:30am for my appointment and it took 6 hours to finish. My hair was shoulder length and it only needed a root touch-up, so it should not have required the full 6 hours. It was just as busy at Kaju today as it was all of my previous visits. I will be looking for another hair salon and not returning to Kaju.

3.5 I was mistaken when I thought my perm had been $ 40 before. It was, in fact, $ 60 and that was because of a package deal(the other people I was with had their hair done too). When I went today to accompany another newbie’s perm experience, we were charged $ 70 because of a sale that was going on(original price: $ 80). A trim was included before the perm. I think the price of the trim + perm is determined by length of hair… but when I asked, the price of a regular perm seemed to be around $ 80. A digital perm or wave is around $ 100. Hmm… not as cheap as I thought. Today, they were short-staffed and busy. We had made appointments for 11 and arrived 5 minutes early. We were actually helped(the hair was starting to be trimmed and washed, and etc…) at 11:40. 40 minutes of wait time for a set appointment. And the perm took a while because the hairdresser, Young, was busy helping other customers and forgot about us. Hmmm. However. The price was still cheap and the perm turned out well. It just took longer(and more patience) than expected. Kaju, I’m returning, but if this long-wait and forgetting-abouts keep happening, I just might have to find another salon.

I have been coming to this salon for like a decade and usually it’s great, and if not at least it’s good. I used to get hair cut from Johnny, when he left, i got my hair done by Lucy. But now that she’s gone too I got my latest hair cut from Jenny. I got a simple medium length straight cut which turned out a bit boring so i went back hoping to get a great bang cut to get a more trendy feel. this was a huge decision since i’ve been growing my hair out for two years so that the the entire head had the same length of hair. so after much research, i decided on a cut and took blown up pictures with me to show her and right of the bat, she just started cutting without even consulting me or looking at the picture. this is THEWORST bangs i’ve even had. the bangs ended up not being straight, some parts are longer than others while one side is higher than the other. if i put hair back to see if she grabs the same amount of hair from each side of the head, you can clearly see zigzagged line on one side and somewhat straight on the other side. how in the world did she expect the cut to come out looking symmetrical without taking the right amount of hair! on top of all of that, she cut too wide so i have like a half bowl cut look alike instead of trendy cute bangs! DONOTGET A CUTFROMJENNY. THEWORSTSTYLIST! she doenst listen to what the customer wants and does not know the basics in cutting symmetrical hair.

A few years back, I made a spontaneous visit to this place after hearing a radio ad about a special on hair color. It was advertised that just for that week, they’re charging $ 30 for hair coloring, for all kinds of hair. $ 30 for hair color!!! I’ve always wanted to try going darker, I thought to myself. Well, get this. When I walked into the empty salon(I should’ve known then why it was empty), I asked about the special and they told me that what I heard is true. Quickly after that, we chose a color and decided on a very dark brown color for me(because my natural hair color is ash brown, but because it’s on the fine side, it gets bleached in the sun easily). They assured me that they were using the best kind of hair dye and that I shouldn’t have to worry about my hair getting damaged. First of all, when we were done, I was appalled to find my hair with tints of red when I specifically told them that since I am a cool-toned gal, no orange, red or bleach of any kind should be used on my hair). Furthermore, instead of the advertised $ 30, they charged me $ 60 for the dye job, saying that they accidentally used the more expensive hair color for my dye. I reasoned with them and the price was brought down to $ 50. I was upset and didn’t want to spend my time at that place any more, so I walked out with my reddish brown hair(which was not flattering at all), which, by the way, was so incredibly dry and brittle after this dye job that a few weeks later, I had to chop my hair off. I feel they completely took advantage of me because I was a young girl then, without any adult supervision and this is definitely a place I will never ever recommend to anyone. Just stay away from this place.

After calling around several salons, I settled on Kaju because they were the cheapest and close to work. Julie was my stylist. Everything started out normal; she washed my hair first and then seated me. I told Julie I wanted the same style but shorter. Things got weird when another stylist and Julie started drying my hair from either side. Julie said they cut hair dry because it’s more accurate. I had no choice but to let her cut it dry. She uses a cutting movement that is like cutting backhanded… very weird. I kept telling her one side was not cut even, but she said it only looked that way because the hair on one side is slightly curly and the other is straight. So she finished cutting and gets the hair straightener out. I told her I didn’t want it straightened; to which she replied this way she can see if it was cut properly. So again, I let her do her thing because I thought I would get a rinse and a style afterward. But no… she left my hair straight and I felt like a dork walking out because I’ve never straightened my hair. The bottom line: I got a $ 20 haircut. I don’t know that a $ 40 haircut would have been much better, so you get what you pay for. Funny thing is in Seattle, the cut would have cost me $ 14 and it would have been cut correctly.

with Lucy now gone — my main reason for visiting the salon .my experience isn’t the same any more. But a new guy — can’t remember his name may have some potential …

I think that this is a great place for people, who are looking for a cheap and good quality hair cut. The place itself is not as glamorous as other ktown salons, but that’s probably why the cuts are cheaper. I got my hair cut and permed(digital perm, which is more expensive) for $ 130 and my hair goes past my shoulders. I had Lucy and I agree that she is pretty good and friendly. She seems to be the busiest one. Overall, I got what I wanted for a cheaper price!

I’m first! This place is reasonably priced and everyone knows, if you are going to Kaju Hair, you gotta go to Lucy. She’s really nice and she knows how to cut hair. I know she gets the most customers and is the busiest so make sure you make an appointment.

Supercuts prices(well, close) for Carlton quality! It’s not the fanciest place, but they know what they’re doing and they do it well. I paid $ 20 for a women’s cut, but walked away looking like I paid $ 85.

Johnny used to cut my hair there. He’s now gone and the owner wouldn’t let me know where he went. Anyone know where he is working now. Please drop a note here or send me a private message. Thanks!
