La Calaca Fish Tacos

Hired them for a family event this past weekend. Food was delicious, the agua Fresca were amazing, and the staff was very professional. Their set up is very clean and proficient. Overall they are great. Can’t wait to have them cater our next event.

We had a party for my nephew La calaca catered. They were totally amazing. Fish and shrimp tacos were so good we couldn’t have enough. Thank you so much.

Was at the coliseum last night and stopped by their booth to try their fish and shrimp tacos… Simple but VERY tasty. Fish and the shrimp were lightly battered and fried, on blue corn tortillas and dressed with cabbage, crema, and lime wedges. Both the shrimp and fish were seasoned well and tasted fresh. They had two salsas at their little salsa bar, red was labeled hot and green was mild. Only tried the red. It had some good heat and complimented both the fish and shrimp well. Staff behind the counter were very friendly too. Been coming to the coliseum for over ten years and glad to see these guys in the food stall lineup. I will definitely be stopping by for some more tasty tacos next game at the coliseum.

It’s been almost a year since I moved down here and people have been asking me why I haven’t had fish tacos yet.
«They are so much better down here. You’re gonna get blown away!»
That was the usual response. And for some reason, I just left it on my to-​do list. So when I ran into La Calaca at the OC Block Party, I figured I may as well try. The guy who took my order looked at me puzzled when I placed my order for only one fish taco. He claimed those tacos were addicting and I couldn’t just get one.
The taco came on a blue corn tortilla and was topped with crema, and a little arbol chile and toasted peanut salsa. It tasted pretty damn good! The fish was fried perfectly and the salsa was delicious. I liked how the taco was not dry at all. Furthermore, it was the perfect size. If it was any bigger, it would’ve fallen apart.
I didn’t come back, though. There were other food vendors I wanted to try as well. However, those tacos were addicting. I can’t give them a complete 5 stars because I only ordered one item, but I would not hesitate to come back if I ever see them again.

Loving their fish and shrimp tacos and two for five bucks is a definitely a great deal. Delish and filling indeed. You need to try their refreshing drinks with the tacos. My fave is the cucumber spinach drink and second fave is lemonade with ginger. Yummy. It helps that the owner’s are really cool too. Currently they only do catering and events in LA and Orange county and I believe they mentioned San Diego as well. So your best bet is to follow them on IG so if they are in your area, make sure to check them out.
