R.I.P. to the finest establishment I’ve ever been to. Martha you are a miserable witch. The devil will surely take care of you.

I loved this place. Along with hosting some great art shows, they designed furniture and held some terrific parties. It was the definition of artistic underground entertainment in downtown L.A. until it shut its doors to make way for a parking lot. It has been closed for several years now, but I miss it.

Art gallery by day, speakeasy by night .located under the trapdoor stairs is a hidden lounge with great live music, generous bartenders, and friendly folks. This was great fun.

I had no password but decided to see if I could talk my way into this cool little place. I drove down to the sketchy part of Downtown. Blood rushing from the excitement of it all. The Gallery was dark and had some sign on it stating it was closed — closed for-EVUH??? Tell me it’s not true!!! I just learned about the coolness of this speakeasy. Seriously bummed.

unfortunately that 1890’s building and the amazing speakeasy will be leveled in october to make room for a police car garage. what a shame!!!

My fave place for *literally* underground, chill, great music, great crowd, boogieing, drinking spots in L.A. Beware– I’ve stumbled down the crooked stairs before. I’ve heard some pretty scary history of this building from the owner’s mouth. That just makes it so much better. I particularly like that when my claustrophobia kicks in, I needn’t walk outside. Instead, I can hike up the stairs and cruise around the awesome and airy art gallery. Just like every other«well kept secret», news travels. I grumbled as I recently had to pay for parking and witness an obscene line forming in the back. You need a password to get in or come with somebody who knows it. *singing* …I’ll never tell.

we popped in as part of downtown art walk last night. i had no idea there was a «hidden» part. i’ll have to check it out again. the art was good; i had a white choco chip macadamia nut cookie and it was bomb. EDIT: speakeasied it tonight courtesy of a new friend. + one star for dope vibes downstairs.

this place is great for a tuesday night filled with heavy bass that«blows your clothes off» bass… Its centrally located in downtown, the parking is usually free. depending on the night i think cover varies, though you need a password to enter. This gallery is filled with a diverse collection of art, a well-rounded collection. The speak easy is underground, and its a great little spot. There are seperate areas to play dominos or chill or shake your booty. Make sure you wear close to nothing because it can get hot, there is a cash only bar& most of the time you can«smoke» as well. I definitely try to make this place a tuesday night routine.
