Last night we enjoyed one of the best, closest to my Mother’s Lebanese meals ever. We had hummus, baba, kibbe, fattoush, etc., the atmosphere was lively, and the service was excellent . This restaurant was recommended by Marcy G to me, I met Marcy on the plane while comming to LA. She has lived here since 1966. Mark E

The food was average and way way overpriced for such an expensive restaurant. The mixed Grill plate was overcooked and dry.

Marouch offers an outstanding selection of Lebanese/Armenian/Middle-Eastern dishes. Absolutely high-quality ingredients and perfectly prepared dishes make this restaurant a destination. Falafel: the lightest crispy-on-the-outside but creamy-on-the inside. Fantastic. Hommos: very delicious, fresh and served with warmed pita bread. Tabbouleh: fresh and perfectly seasoned. Shanklish: a flavorful cheese served salad-style with tomatoes, lettuce and dressing. Jallab: this beverage is a must-order. Raisin-grape juice with honey and rose water, sprinkled with pine nuts and raisins. It does not get any better than this.

This has to be one of my favorite Lebanese restaurants!!! They have the best hummus! Lamb and chicken kebobs are a must for me and the lentil soup is the BEST! The servers are extremely nice and attentive. Only draw back is the parking situation is HORRIBLE! Have come several times with large parties and they’ve been amazing.

This place is getting too many negative comments! Not fair. It’s a great restaurant overall. If all you care for is great food this is your place. Location is not ideal, décor taken from the 60’s in Turkey but who cares??! If you do, don’t go. If you don’t then don’t think twice, the food is really great, it’s a family business that puts its soul into this restaurant.

Absolutely delicious food! Tried this place for the first time tonight and it was a huge success. Everything was more delicious than the other. The fatuous salad was good, the tabouleh was great, and the filet kabob was amazing. I also love the rice it came with — had little vermicelli mixed in(MYFAVE). Definitely coming back :).

Finally decided to order from Marouch today after walking past it so many times. Reading the reviews I was a little hesitant because there were a few negative comments, but I went ahead and placed an order for the Chicken Shawarma plate. The man who took my order over the phone was actually the owner, Serge. This man was such a sweetheart! Had a brief conversation with him(gave me a small hummus for free to try and was it amazing), and I went on my merry way. I ordered the large portion, which is definitely more than enough for two people to share. The chicken itself was perfectly seasoned, and so was everything else that came in the plate. The food was absolutely delicious and not that expensive. For anyone out there reading the Unilocal reviews on this establishment; please don’t judge this place by what you read, give it a try, you won’t regret it!

Good food… I order shawarma lamb, very tasty. Service wasn’t that excellent for what I paid. Overall food is good but it is pricey… And not justified. I’d pay extra for service, air conditioning, and non sticky chairs. 5 stars for the cook 0 for the restaurant management.

$ 9 -$ 15 for appetizer plates for this small(quite ugly) stripmall restaurant doesn’t make sense. The stuffed grapeleaves were so oily(I mean oozing oil) that we took a few bites and couldn’t finish them. The salad, tabouleh and hummus were all good but again, too expensive. Three pieces of cheese berek(cheese fried in wonton like wrappers) cost $ 9. The chicken and filet kebabs were overcooked and dry. Bob, our server was the only highlight. The owner glares at people from the corner(near the bar). He just gives bad juju. There are too many restaurants in LA to return here.

Lebanese food is a bit like Singaporean food to me. No, of course they don’t taste remotely similar, but in general, you’re used to them being cheap, and when they’re not, it’s a little hard to swallow. I hadn’t been here in years – my memory of that occasion was that it was fine, but overhyped. In any case, I decided it was time to try again. The décor is fine – perhaps a little dark and dated, but fine. The server was pleasant enough, though he was taking care of the entire dining room. Still, he did a solid job, and until the end when it took a few moments to get his attention to get the check, I didn’t have to wait too much. But the food’s the thing. I wasn’t looking to spend $ 30+ for dinner(been doing that too much lately), and I figured Middle Eastern food would make that possible. Well, at Marouch, that’s sort of possible. It’s possible as long as you don’t order an appetizer and don’t order any of the more expensive items, but it’s really easy to go over that if you want a complete dinner. I was craving garlic sauce, so I ordered chicken shawarma, which was one of the few sub-$ 20 items on the menu. Dinner comes with a couple pieces of pita and some olives and mixed pickles(I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do with the green onions). The chicken itself was generally well cooked, though a few smaller pieces were charred to the point of being tiny briquettes. The rice that came with it – along with some onions and tomato – was tasty enough. The garlic sauce was just OK. Some of that may be a personal preference, but the garlic sauce here lacks the bite that it has elsewhere(seems like it may have been tempered with mayo or something that made it very mild). I like some bite. And unlike most Lebanese restaurants, there’s no hummus or anything included. So what are you supposed to do with the pita they give you? I took to wrapping the pickles(which were actually quite good) in it. But I couldn’t help feeling that it wasn’t a complete meal. And I think that brings me back to the Singapore problem. Why is this restaurant so much more expensive than the rest of the Lebanese restaurants in town? Hayat’s Kitchen serves the same dish with a refreshing salad and hummus for a couple bucks less, and in a warmer, more welcoming environment. How can you charge $ 14.99 for a halloum(aka haloumi) appetizer when Philadelphia’s celebrated Zahav, one of the best restaurants in America, charges $ 10 for it? And don’t tell me that it’s a reflection of their relative rents. Sorry – a strip mall in East Hollywood isn’t pricier than a prime spot in Society Hill. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not against spending money for a great meal. I’ve had my share of $ 100+/person feasts. Actually, probably my share and several other people’s share. But it’s just hard to pay a lot of money for food that isn’t normally expensive food. And if you’re going to do that, then you need to feel like you got something special. And while Marouch is perfectly fine, it’s not worth paying that surcharge.

My husband and I visited this place. Owner is very sweet and accommodating. I think food is always better when the owner and chef are authentic to the cuisine and this place is just that. Really tasty food. Do not forget to try the Jallab!

Good service, juice is surprisingly FRESH squeezed. Lamb kabob plate is perfect size with 4 – 5 pieces of meat. I love that they offer three sizes: sandwich, Medium and Large. Muhamara is good but could use a little oil to make it moist. Beef Shwarma is dry/okay taste: 3⁄5. Portion size is perfect is you choose Medium. Bread is not fresh baked but it was okay for the price. Décor is ugly and horrible including old old bathroom but hey, you are there for the food. $ 37 for two people. Please don’t come here expecting a nice dining/restaurant experience. It is good for lunch and maybe take away.

Visiting the area from SD and we were in search of some Middle Eastern food. We were so happy with our choice. The food was really tasty. We ordered the Veggie combo platter and a Falafel Sandwich to share, everything was really good. I’m a big fan of middle eastern food and I’m not easily impressed however, everything tasted very fresh and authentic. We also ordered a Turkish coffee wish was delicious and the baklava which makes my mouth water, thinking about how good it was. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely be back. I’d love to try some of the other things on their menu.

I was visiting SoCal and wanted to get Lebanese food, since I know there is a large Lebanese population in the area. This place had good reviews so I headed over. The area seemed a little sketch, and it is located in a small strip mall, but I decided to go ahead anyway. Boy was I glad I did. This place is fantastic. I started off with the Mouhamara(a dip made from crushed walnuts, hot red pepper paste, and olive oil) and then got the lamb shawarma plate, which came with pickles, olives, salad, rice, and hummus. To drink, I tried for the first time Jallab(grape juice with honey, rose water, raisins, and pine nut slivers). It was amazing! There are many large tables, and I could see this being a great place for groups. The interior is well decorated in a style that evokes the Middle East, and it feels very comfortable. The staff was amazingly friendly, super helpful, and very patient. I didn’t once feel rushed or that I was an imposition. I would definitely come back.

I plan to try out every restaurant listed on Jonathan’s gold 101 restaurant list, sooooooo I decided to come here for my anniversary dinner! As we walked it, it was really empty. The server didn’t even notice we were in the restaurant. For a party of 2: Ordered –Chicken Sharma plate: comes with chicken, rice and onions! –Tabbouleh: a type of Lebanese salsa; made of tomatoes, chopped parsley, mint and onions! –Hummus with falafel: 5 pieces of falafel on top of their homemade hummus *they also give you fresh pita bread with veggies(black olives, peppers, pickled radish? and onions!) Taste of the food was delicious. The service was decent. The servers could be a bit more attentive to their guests. Overall, I enjoyed my night here. If service was a bit better, would give it a 5!
