Max Karaōke is located in little Tokyo in the mall with the Galleria. Upon first look and entry, it looks a little run down but this is one of the better karaōke joints because they have very up to date songs, as well as songs in so many languages(Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc) If you go earlier, they have really good happy hour prices. If you have a large group, it is highly recommended that you reserve a room ahead of time. There can be a wait on weekend nights. One downside is that they do a headcount of how many people are in the room. The cost can be pricy if more and more people show up just for just a short while. The best part though, is that Max Karaōke is BYOB for an extra dollar per head, and that there is a grocery store conveniently located in the same mall! Don’t forget to bring your parking ticket for validation.

Love this place! Come all the time alone and with friends. :) Highly affordable happy hours and very affordable at night when coming with group of friends. New songs every month, can sing your favorite top chart songs here — in English, Korean, Japanese, and more languages. They also have stamp card system so you can earn free hours to sing. :) The place is a little older, so it’s not brand new and swanky. Still Recommended!

If you’re going in a weekend be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. They have many rooms and a VIP area, yet they fill up quite fast. Not a bad establishment, but very dated. Songs are vast which include karaōke favorites and indie gems, but the use of books are very dated. If you’re looking for a modern karaōke(Korea and Japan) place you could be disappointed. No stock music videos or handy tablets to search for song and artists. If you’re searching for your favorite Japanese tunes then its scouring through the pages of Kanji, but they will more than likely have it. The foreign language books are available up front. There is app to quickly look up the song you want and find a number of a song, but typing numbers in is quite archaic. It’s a fun activity, but lacks the sophistication of overseas. It’s great for those who have never experienced Asian style karaōke.

Small rooms, TERRIBLE sound system, and have to make a reservation to avoid waiting an hour if not longer to get in. They do not serve alcohol, and have no bell system to call for help. Honestly, had the machine operated without any trouble I would give this place three stars. But when you’re in middle of a song and the machine all of sudden loses sound or goes back few seconds, it absolutely kills the mood. Not worth the trouble of trekking to Little Tokyo. Koreatown offers plenty of options to choose from for similar price.

Been here twice now and both times were great. BYOB karaōke place that accommodates a big party well and very reasonably priced. Recommend making reservations as they book up on the weekend. Convenient parking at the parking structure attached to the complex.

Music selection’s awesome, location’s great, parking is validated, you can bring in your own food and drink for a $ 1 but the system is a little old so i docked a star there. If you’re not really looking to impress anyone in your group with awesome ambiance and sound system, but just want a place to sing and eat, this is perfect.

I’ve been wanting to have the Asian karaōke experience for a while and I finally had the opportunity to try it out at this karaōke place located inside the Little Tokyo mall. I can’t say my memory of my time at Max Karaōke Studio is the sharpest(ahem, $ 1/person BYOB…), but I do remember that the(lone?) employee was friendly and the bathroom was decent. I can say with certainty that we didn’t have an iPad in our room, and it took an admirable group effort to enter the number for each song via remote. It’s a bit of a challenge getting here: if you arrive after the mall closes, you have to take the elevator in the parking garage up to the second floor because the doors to the mall are locked. They do take reservations, which is recommended if you’re trying to secure a room during the weekend. Prices are reasonable: it came out to $ 37 for 5 people on a weekday. The guy working here gave us a heads up when we were five minutes away from an hour, which was convenient. This isn’t the most luxurious karaōke place, but it got the job done for a good price. I would probably shop around for another place with better technology for next time, but it’s hard to argue with the $ 1BYOB here.

I went here twice in a week because it was that good. Amazing happy hour pricing($ 5/person/hour on sunday and $ 4 on thursday when I went) and updated song list. We pretty much sang all the new songs on the radio and could continue on with all our old favorites. The staff was super nice and helpful. Most important thing: the ipad system was very user friendly and we had no issues queuing up 20 songs at a time. Most of the videos were the artist’s actual music videos and we didn’t get any weird versions. Parking was super easy in the parking structure, and with validation, our 2 hours was free. This has become my go-to spot for karaōke.

SO much fun! All my go-to karaōke songs were in the extensive song book including some that I was surprised by. A little bit of every genre from top 40, to Christian gospel music. They even have an entire catalog of songs in Spanish! Went with a group of 6 and it was about $ 92 for two hours which seemed pretty reasonable on a Thursday night. It does say that of you stay after 3am that the price increases, so make sure to keep track of time because there is nothing like getting stuck in a karaōke time warp. Definitely will be having a birthday here in the future.

I was never comfortable at karaōke since I’m not a really good singer. However, i still had so much fun with my friends. I recommend making a reservation and coming early to avoid the crowd. The place was super crowded on the weekend once you come after 9 pm. This place was super casual and the prices was reasonable. For a party of 12 ppl, we got a huge room and paid $ 75 per hour plus tax for 12 ppl. The staff were friendly and helpful if you are having with the machine. I definitely plan to come back here instead of driving out to Ktown for overpriced KTV and food. My likes are the following: 1. BYOB or food for $ 1 per person. It’s super affordable than having to buy for overpriced food and drinks. Make sure you stop by the Japanese supermarket downstairs in the plaza. It’s super convenient to grab alcohol and snacks before you head up. There is also a boba shop in the plaza if you prefer tea or coffee. 2. The prices are super reasonable. It’s about 8 per person per hour. 3. This place offers the iPad to control and order songs. It is very convenient and user friendly. You are able to search by songs and artist. They still provide the song book to browse through. 4. Parking is free with validation. 5. They offer a wide variety of popular English, Chinese, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean songs. Dislike: 1. The place looks very dated and an upgrade will be nice. 2. The place felt a little dirty. 3. The TV was relatively very small compared to the size of the room.

In short — so much fun! We had trouble with our controller and asked the front desk for help. So they replaced the old school one with an ipad that was SOMUCHBETTER than flipping thru all those books. So ask for the iPad! It’s standard in terms of Korean(japanese?) Karaōke joints… but the BYO food and drink is even better. We got boba drinks from downstairs in the trippy mall it’s inside of. It wasn’t deluxe or perfect by any stretch… but it’s just what you want when you want to belt out tunes with your friends.

Came here to celebrate a bday with my gf and her family. The place was pretty decent size and we liked that they let you take in your own refreshments and food. Everyone had a really good time. Only thing that started to get a little irritating was the songs that were edited on the karaōke machine but didnt inform us of being edited so when the part that would come on that we thought we knew it would be the edited version and just throw us off. besides that this place was pretty fun.

This is my go-to place for Karaōke in Los Angeles. It’s located in a little shopping center where I could easily spend an entire evening. Usually, however, I stop in the market on the ground floor, and pick up snacks, drinks and mixers on the way in, because they allow you to bring your own food and drink in to the private room. The«service fee» for BYOB is a whopping $ 1. Added bonus: Parking is free with validation. They’ve updated to an iPad to select songs, which makes things 100 times easier than using that big book, and entering numbers on the old controller. The happy hour pricing is pretty good, you’re charged per person /per hour. Things get more expensive outside of happy hour, and it gets harder to split the bill. During prime hours the rooms are rented at a flat fee per hour. So if you arrive late /leave before your party does it is hard to know how to split the bill — and the guys at the desk won’t help you with that. They’ll tell you the current total, and accept whatever amount you want to pay. If you host a large party, It’s important to make sure your guests know how it works — or you may end up with a whopper of a tab at night’s end.

Max is our go-to karaōke joint. Always call to make a rez just in case. PARKING: Plaza lot — free with validation. You can also get additional validated hours from the supermarket on the first floor. SERVICE: The guys up front are super casual and clearly do not care what you are doing inside the room. You pay an extra fee to BYOB which is great for those who are a bit mic shy — thankfully I am not one of those people. Song selection is decent, but the technology is still«punch in numbers to queue up” — no iPads here. MISC: –Check out their happy hour option if you can get here early afternoon! –BYOB: Supermarket in the plaza has a good selection if you forgot to pick some up. –Fills up fast on weekend nights. Definitely make a reservation.

We came here for my best friends birthday and it did not disappoint. It was reasonably priced and the equipment was up to date/modern. The remote was an iPod and the microphone and speakers worked well! Of course anywhere where they allow you to bring in your own alcohol is a winner in my eyes!(They allow that if you didn’t catch that!) :) The staff was friendly and helpful and the entire location was clean. In the same shopping center is XLANES so you could make a really fun night … sing and get a lil buzz for cheap over at Max, then try your hand at a round of bowling! Great spot for karaōke and def will be back!

I really had a good time at Max Karaōke. The staff was very friendly and easy going. We met up with our friends for a birthday party and they allowed us to bring in whatever we wanted. We made it potluck style and we all brought different dishes and set them up on the tables in our room. We were also able to bring in our own alcohol, which was definitely a PLUS! The sound system was a little questionable. It could of used a little more bass but the mics were perfect. I also think they should set it up a little different were the tv is behind the people sitting so you’re not seeing people’s backs while they are reading the words off the tv. I also love that you choose your music using an iPad. I ended up downloading the app and navigating through songs on my iPhone but I didn’t know how to connect it to the system to actually make selections. The music selection was updated and they had a lot of current songs combined with plenty of classics to keep the party going! Overall, Max Karaōke is a fun place to have a karaōke party and its in the same mall as Xlanes and Manna KBBQ. I actually went upstairs to Manna to get some Macroons ice cream and brought it into Max. I would definitely recommend it. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

More updates because you know, I was here yet again. They have VIP rooms with better screens and more space, perfect for groups of 10+…or if you just want a lot of room to dance around in. You can use your parking validation to get the izakaya to sell you alcohol. If either the izakaya or Max’s feigns ignorance, do not give up. Trust me. You will get your alcohol. Song selections are awesome. More than enough to have a full on 80’s night, 90’s night or the new stuff only. In fact, there’s so many that my last session turned into a three hour long sesh and I still didn’t get to hit all the songs I wanted. I’ll be back real soon.

First the nitpicking. … this place is a little dirty and looks under construction. Even with a reservation there is still a wait time. Now the pros… cheap price to book a room and friendly staff. When we finally got our room it was fun. The system worked great and the little ac unit was powerful. This place is hard to find. It’s on the second floor of an indoor mall. There are a lot of good restaurants in there too, so make a whole evening there. Also, a few hotels near by in case you get drunk. This is an Asian style karaōke, so you get your own rooms. One cool thing, is all their songs are on their app. Takes 2 seconds to load. Type in song or artist and bam… code comes up, type it in remote and your song is in que. I will definitely be back. It was nice being there with good people. You know who you are ;) Until next time

Came a few weekends ago for a fun birthday party. A little shabby on the interior but they make up for it with a really wide range of song selections, both old and new. Just simple snacks for sale at the counter but you can bring your own food and booze for just $ 1 more per person. The room sizes vary pretty vastly. We were lucky to get a spacious one with a table. I think I paid like $ 12 or $ 13 for two hours with a party size of 14. The staff is great. My advice to fellow Karaōke-goers: 1) 2 hours is not really enough time to plaster yourself and sing your heart out, especially with big groups. So take it back to freshman year and pre-game well before you arrive. 2) Speaking of drinking(and driving), definitely try and Über. I refuse to pay for parking if street is available. Street parking available indeed… on Skid Row. Tents, the aroma of piss and just pure sketch galore. 3) Definitely make reservations on the weekends. We had the 7−9pm slot. When we went to pay at the end, it was impossible to get my ID back because the counter was busting with people checking in. My point is it gets REALLY crowded.

The only place I know where you can bring your own beer. The interior is about medium-sized, and one might complain about it being a bit run-down compared to other places. the sound system and the screens could be considered fairly minimal. However, you can’t beat the song selection, especially if you are looking for American songs you can’t find elsewhere! Also, different is the remote controller… it is on a tablet where you can choose any song quite painlessly. I came here with a meet-up and we brought our beers and snacks with us, and we had a grand ol’ time. There are songs here that I never could find in any other places, so when I got here, I chose all songs I’ve never sang before. Since I have a thing for 80’s and 90’s music, I went for it old school. Here are the songs I chose to song – it’s a good sample of the diverse range of songs available here: «You Be Illin’» by Run DMC «Policy of Truth» by Depeche Mode «Poison» by Bell Biv Devoe «Things Can Only Get Better» by Howard Jones «The Saga Begins» by Weird Al Yankovic Other songs I would’ve sang if I had more time would’ve been more Depeche Mode songs, «Nothing in My Way» by Keane, «Hourglass» by Squeeze, and«Don’t Answer Me» by Alan Parson’s Project. As for parking, since it is located inside a Japanese mall, there’s is a multi-level parking structure you can park at. Admittedly, the«compact» parking space is super small. There is validation available. The service is friendly, and as mentioned, the song selection is hard to beat.
