My situation is probably a tad different from most people reviewing. I called in to ask if I could buy meat/cheese/bread seperately, not made sandwiches because I wanted to make my own sandwiches the following day. The guy who answered the phone, I’m guessing he runs the counter(bald headed, nice fellow), said in these exact words, «Yes, I can sell them to you in quarter lb, cheese as well, and can give you a few loaves of bread. I’ll take care of you.» I answered awesome and walked down there. I only live .3 miles away so it’s not a long walk at all. I went into the store and introduced myself to the man and said, «Yea, I called in and wanted to buy the meat, he said no worries he would take care of me in a bit.» This is because the restaurant was slammed. No problem, I totally get that. But what was super annoying to me was that when he did help me, he said, I can only cut/sell you the Turkey, nothing else. Well why would he tell me on the phone that basically, I could get whatever I wanted and that he would take care of me and now telling me that I could only get 1 cut of meat? I wasn’t going to ask for just 1 cut. I had a whole dream of cuts that I wanted to buy. I was and am still deeply disappointed :( Like I said, I only live .3 miles away, so it’s not a killer walk, but still, a total waste of time. If he had communicated that to me on the phone, I would have never walked there.

Came in here to get a sandwich and it was definitely worth it ! The tuna sandwich was very good and worth it ! But don’t wanna come here from 1130 – 1 during lunch it gets very very busy! Definitely worth a try if your around! 5⁄5 for me!

I tossed the coin… hot dog or deli. Deli. So I walked there and ordered The Big Lucky… It was a good price. I chose cold. Don’t want mine heated up. I took it home and ate… wow, so goooood!!! So fresh. Honey and avocado, and meat were so tasty. I love it. Mike’s Deli packed down A lot of meat… just perfect enough for me to Wide my mouth and then chew. Subway’s only put one layer of meat. Just for $ 5. To me that isn’t a sandwich.

Looking for a stack sandwich, mike’s deli is a good place to come! Parking is tricky, you can either parkway close or very far. Pick your sandwich, order it, pick a bag a chip and or drink. Once your sandwich is done you pay all at the same time. I got the mike’s special, Cajun deli turkey, onions, avocados, mayo and your choice of cheese and bread. Munster and sourdough please. They pile on the deli meats, scored! Fills you up with all that meat. Grab some kettle chips and it’s the perfect touch.

I found myself downtown today… Saw lots of people sleeping on the lawn at Grand Park and a woman in a Land Rover being arrested. So I crossed the street and keep walking… then I got hungry. Came across Mike’s Deli and thought it was a good idea. I walked in to a crowd of what seemed liked chatty regulars and two people taking orders. The guy at the register stopped what he was doing and said«Hey! How’s it going!?!» I was a little caught off guard and choked out a «Hi!» I love acknowledgement even when I’m not ready for it. I took a few glances at the menu(didn’t want to look too lost). Lots of meat, bread, and condiment choices and some salads and specials. I ordered the Italian Sub and then went to ponder the really extensive selection of drinks and chips. I waited less than the time it takes to make a sandwich at Subway(supergood cuz I was getting hungry from all the defensive walking I had been doing). The sandwich was a pretty substantial size both length and girth. After unwrapping, I could see that it was gonna be a great sub, just enough mayo and maybe some oil and vinegar, not too messy but it was stuffed with meat and cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and that shredded lettuce that is indicative of «I got this sandwich at a real deli» lettuce. Like I had just mentioned, this sub had girth, these are the times that you wished you were like a snake and could unhinge your jaw to swallow your prey, or you could just squish down the bread a bit. And… Mmmm. I ate it all, including the few strands of lettuce that fell out(it was a very well constructed sub, no meat slippage, tomato failures or oil stains). Did I mention I’m a sucker for a good sandwich. I’ll be back Mike, be ready for me.

Quality fresh sandwiches hands down. I’ve had other sandwich spots using boarshead, but Mikes deli really knows how to bring out the flavor of the meats on their sandwiches. I recommend the lunch special best bang for your buck not like that crappy $ 5.00 footlong at subway, plus the chips and drink adds up to the same as Mikes lunch special.

I went to this deli thinking it would taste the same as Mikes on Slauson. It oddly enough doesn’t, for some reason I found my sandwich to be very dry and thirsty. The bread wasn’t as fresh as it could have been. I probably won’t be back to this location. If I need a Mikes sandwich, I’ll go to the one on the westside.

I would probably have given this place a couple more stars, but the lady working the register at lunch today had the worst customer service! I’m already a little weary of technology so when my co-worker told me about texting my order in I was a little hesitant. With my lunch break being an hour, I figured it may be worth it to save some time. I should have trusted my first instinct. I texted my order ten minutes before I left and got a confirmation that my order would be ready in twenty. When I got to the front of the line the lady asked me my order number and told me it wasn’t ready and to wait until called. About 5 – 7 minutes later, she asks me what my order was. I showed her the text only for her to tell me they didn’t get the order!?! What, why couldn’t you tell me that when I first checked in at the register!?! Then only to take my order and throw us in the regular queue! No putting our order where it should have been when I first walked in. As I stood there watching people who got there after me get their lunch and leave before me, I thought, this better be a darn good sandwich. When she finally called me to pick up my order, I thought, she can probably save this situation with an apology. And that’s right, you guessed it, not one word! The sandwich was good. But should I be blaming the lady at the register for such a bad experience or technology? Either way, lunch was ruined and now only twenty minutes long.

after a disappointing bite at jist came across the street to check this spot out great deli sandwiches we had the Mike’s special(warmed up) and it was super tasty (although i’d opt for a different bread next time) lots of interesting flavors and quality ingredients (love the honey mustard!) also, very cheap so both you and your wallet will leave happy

Wow. I wouldn’t think I’d find anything so close to where I work in the Hellmouth(DTLA). But this tiny little spot definitely gets it based on my experience today. Came here for lunch and ordered the chicken salad. Waited a not too long time and my salad came out. Ran me about $ 10 for a salad that had a very generous portion of chicken, a perfectly ripe chunk of avocado, peppers, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and unicorn tears, with a side of well-emulsified and zesty balsamic dressing, on a bed of crisp-not-limp mixed greens. This dish gets my three word salute: «om-nom-nom» I’m thinking I may add this to my «lunch treats» list where I eat out at a different lucky place once a week instead of bringing lunch(I’m a federal worker now so I get paid in IOU’s these days). Bottom line: you want something tasting good in this part of town that isn’t ramen, sushi, or doused in sodium, and phillipe’s is too far to walk, hit up this place and grab yourself something really friggin’ good, and twice as healthy.

A pretty darn good place to grab a sandwich. I was in the area walking from Grand Park to Mumford Brewing, and wanted a light lunch. I stumbled across this place. It was open on a Saturday, which was a bonus since everything else seemed closed. At first I was a bit shocked at the prices, but then I saw how jam packed with meat and fixings they were. The meat is fresh, the bread was soft, and overall it was delicious. I only wish they had dutch crunch bread(Does anyone know where I can find a place that does down here?). The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They have chips to choose from. There’s 3 tables inside, and a few outside in their little«patio» area. If I’m ever in the area for work, I know where I’m getting lunch.

Great place to get some delicious sandwiches. They pump out sandwiches quick. The only negative is, if you want to dine in, there is VERY limited seating available. It’ll get packed during lunch hours so be warned.

Found this place thanks to Unilocal!:) I was in the mood for a good sandwich and this place seemed to be the go to spot. Its located on 1st street near the Starbucks its a small shop and you might miss it but just keep an eye on the address. This place was totally popping during lunch time but they were very efficient getting people in and out. You can order your order via text too I thought that was pretty cool! Anyhow I ended up going with with Mikes Sandwich the pictures looked pretty good so I had to give it a try. Ordering was easy and you pay once you pick up your order. I got my food to go and the guy also let me try a sample of their chicken salad it was good I ended up getting ½ lb to go but it was kinda pricey it was $ 4.79 i think the chicken chunks were really chunky. It was good but ehh as I said before a little pricey not something I would order again. The sandwich overall was good I enjoyed the bread it came on the sandwich though wasnt my favorite. I did get the jalapeños on the side thank goodness cuz those bad boys were hot hot hot!!! The sandwich itswlf without the jalapenos was sweet and savory not sure if it was the mayo or the bread and also the cajun turkey it was a mix of flavors. Overall was good but would probably order the oven gold turkey next time. They offer different types of chips and beverages and overall a very friendly and yummy sandwich spot. They do not accept credit cards unless its $ 6.99 and above. The meat here is all Boars meat I believe which is one of my favorites. All in all a good experience would recommend. :)

I love sammies! I love squaw! I love honey maple turkey esp from Boar’s Head! Service is quick and easy. The sandwiches are HUGE and prices are reasonable esp for the quality AND quantity. Mike’s Deli 2 is a great spot to have lunch that’ll have your hungry tummy satisfied. Get the Mike’s Special on squaw(heated) with extra jalapenos if you don’t know what to get while standing in line reading this review right now. Trust me =)

+ Great service + Can’t go wrong with any choice you pick + Awesome overall +/-Prices start at $ 7.99+(I think it’s worth it IMO) I come here every other week for my choice of lunch and really, you can’t go wrong with Mike’s. I’ve had their Mailman sammich, the Reuben(definitely recommended), and whichever they have posted as the Mike’s special. All of them hit the spot in the right way, and I’ve never been done wrong by this place. Price may seem a bit steep to some, but I think it’s set just right. It falls in between being cheap and expensive. Once you take your first bite, you don’t really remember how much the sandwich costs anymore. Location is a small place randomly located along the street, you get the choices of either parking curbside or parking at a pay lot. I recommend coming here before 12, around 11:30 is perfect. You’ll beat out all the other people wanting to come here for lunch. Overall, 5⁄5. Wood come again. Wood bite into sammich again.

I come here pretty often for my lunch/dinner sandwich. That’s because they’re so big, they last me two meals. I also love that they cut the sandwiches in half. I recommend the Mike’s Special on their amazing squaw bread. I’m not entirely sure what squaw bread is, but it’s a little sweet, looks healthy and tastes amazing! They give you generous amounts of Boar’s Head deli meat and the ingredients are very fresh. Most sandwiches run around $ 8. This place gets crazy at lunchtime, so text in your order to save a bunch of time! They’ve also got dozens of drinks and chips to choose from to add to your order.

Great sandwiches… A little bit more expensive than other sandwich spots but you are paying for the quality. its still between 7 to 10 for a good size sandwich which will fill you up. They have a great variety of meats, and sandwiches of the day. Service is fast and if you are in a rush call your order ahead over the phone.
