Worst pizza I have ever tasted and the most expensive. Not worth the wait. It took forever. I see now that they are closing… glad to hear! Too bad we came a few days before they closed.

So glad we were able to make it one last time before they close. My boyfriend and I had one of our first dates. If you are able to come before 1÷3÷16 get here early they fill out fast. And get the burrata you won’t regret it.

Best pizza in LA? Meh, I don’t think so. Snobbiest, most artsy fartsy pizza in LA? Sure, let’s go with that… Go ahead west coast twits, hate the New Yorker who hates LA pizza, again. Pizza is one of THE most cost efficient foods to construct; how can anyone justify the prices at this place? Let alone the overall mediocrity of the product. Yes, Los Feliz is the perfect place for this hipster haven of hell…

Best pizza in LA. Chill vibe and a great place to take a date. Wouldn’t recommend going if you are in a hurry. Bummed they will be closing soon. You will be missed motherdough!

Mother Dough has Arrived! 5 stars! Read to the end. I’ve been coming to mother dough since it opened, and being a hard core Neapolitan pizza enjoyer I have always felt that it was an excellent attempt but something of a near miss. Great ingredients– crust not quite there etc. It’s December 18th2015 and for the second time in a row I can tell you sincerely– this is now some of the best pizza I have EVER had in my life. What so impresses me is that these guys had a good pie when they opened– but this is waaay better. A whole different level. Such a pleasant contrast to the way things usually degrade at restaurants. The waiter just told me that the chef is so dedicated that he’s sleeping in the back to be here at the crack of dawn making the new dough. Come and get it while it’s hot. You won’t be disappointed. I’m so impressed with this mid game surge I don’t even mind if the place gets busier. Great work Mother Dough!

I can’t believe they’re closing. The baby clam pizza is amazing. Lemon, garlic, cheese and clams on a thin-crust. Fantastic. The burrata salad is also a star. Bitter greens, creamy cheese and a slightly spicy pepper dressing. I’ll miss Mother Dough, the only pizza place that my picky wife and I agreed wholeheartedly on.

Great burrata salad and beer selection but the pizza had an overwhelming flavor of burnt. I know the difference between«a bit of char» and plain olé burnt and I don’t particularly love burnt pizza, I’m afraid.

I cannot believe I have not written a review of this place yet. This is my favorite pizza place in LA and I am crushed to hear it will be closing soon. Thank you for the delicious clam pizza and for making me realizes lemons have a place in my heart. If you can make it here within the next three weeks, start with the burrata or fennel salad, and then order the clam pizza with lemon slices. I think about it at night before I sleep. Mother Dough, you have been an amazing fixture in the neighborhood and you will be greatly missed. When I think of you, I think about the great ambiance, friendly service, delicious pizza, and tons of memories I have of your restaurant. Thanks for all the great food. I will be visiting you as much as I can within the next week.

Woah! Have you ever wondered what the best pizza in Los Angeles tasted like? Stop wondering and go to Mother Dough! Seriously, this pizza was the equivalent of graduating from college, having your first born and winning a small lottery all in a 30 minute span. I’ve eaten here at least 15 times and plan to keep going back. The owner is also the person that makes all the pizza. He wakes up early every morning to make the dough fresh and is passionate about his product. If you think you’ve found a better pizza place, pls let me know. I’ll help you find professional help. Unfortunately you haven’t found a better place and are completely in denial.

I had been hearing good things about this spot and decided to check it out. The dough is great and the sauce is tangy. The topping are always fun and new and interesting. The salads are really good too even though they are kind of small. I will definitely come back.

This place is delicious! Little pricey, but the pizza is nuanced, flavorful, great. Happy to have another gem in the neighborhood.

Threw up after eating here :(Not sure if it is because I’m pregnant or it was the food! I’ve barely thrown up in my pregnancy so… I thought the pizza was decent but nothing out of this world. I’ve definitely had better. Service was good.

Wow. What a disappointment. Came in with a friend around quarter to eight and there were no tables. The waitress said that several tables were about to be finished and we wouldn’t have to wait long. Several people left, but the waitress didn’t come back to get us for at least fifteen minutes. Then some guy came out and asked if we knew that they were backed up right now and pizzas would take 50 minutes. No, we didn’t. He came back and said it would be 30 – 45 minutes for pizza so we said okay. If that was the case, they should have told us before we started waiting for a table. We would have left and not had to deal with what ensued. They also could have taken our orders before we were seated which would have been preferred. From the get go we got a weird vibe from the staff like they didn’t want us there. When we finally got a table, they continued with the unfriendly vibe. They didn’t check on us or refill our waters until our pizzas came out nearly an hour later. Oh and they were right it ended up being a 50 minute wait. Several others who came in after us got their pizzas before us. Not cool. By the time the pizza came out, we were starving and it was such a disappointment. My friend like her Margherita, but my pizza was awful. I had a Soppressata pizza and it was SOGGY in the middle. There was barely any cheese and the peppers were cut in huge chunks. The pizza was also not cut well so I had to go over the slices with my knife, often tearing the slices in half and ruining them. The soppressata was also in way too big slices that often came right off the whole pizza when you tried to either cut through them or bite through them. The flavors weren’t balanced well because the ingredients were a mess. Honestly, why bother going out to eat if your artisanal pizza maker is not going to bother to prep the ingredients. Oh, and remember this personal pie has an $ 18 price tag and no, it isn’t big. This was a terrible experience. Looking around, we noticed the servers were friendly and attentive to other guests, but not to us. We couldn’t figure out why we were treated so badly. We were never rude. We didn’t complain about the long wait time or suggest anything to the staff. By the time we left just after 9pm. We were one of the only tables left in the whole restaurant. I do not understand how this place functions if they cannot handle customers coming in at the end of a dinner rush. I honestly do not understand how this place has such a following when there are so many other better, cheaper gourmet pizza options in the area with nicer servers to boot.

3.5 stars for MD! MARGHERITAPIZZA – this kind of fell short for me, not in terms of flavor but the sogginess! I am not a fan of the end of the slice being immediately soggy after coming out from the oven. The dough was perfect; FLUFFYYETCHEWY. SAUSAGEPIZZA – basically a margherita with delicious, SAVORYSLICESOFSAUSAGE. If you are a meat lover, get this because it’s DELICIOUS and not too filling! FYI the pizzas are a bit bigger than personal pies so I would suggest sharing!

There are some things you become a sort of connoisseur of when you’re vegan for a while, stuff you were probably never into when you ate dairy but now know inside and out. One of those things is pizza without cheese. The benefit is that I’ve now had killer marinara pizza when I’d normally never look at it twice. The con is that I’m now completely spoiled. Mother Dough does not have killer marinara pizza. Not at all. I love the space. It’s warm and cozy, as the wood-fired oven burns in the back. Exposed brick, mood lighting, and limited seating makes this place perfect for having a glass of wine and sharing a pizza with someone you like a lot. I noticed a lack of music, but there was a constant din of conversation so it was never awkwardly quiet. Our server was wonderful, and started us off with a mixed greens salad with a vegan dressing, a spicy red wine vinaigrette that was fantastic. The normal dressing has mayo, so if you avoid that sort of thing, be sure to ask for the vinaigrette. Then there was the pizza. Despite large slices of garlic and crisp basil leaves, I couldn’t taste either of them. The only flavor that stood out was the crust(which was excellent) and«burnt.» No tomatos, no garlic, no basil. Burnt. It was so disappointing! Maybe it needed a sprinkle of salt to bring out the flavors, but this pizza didn’t hold a flame to Mozza, Stella Barra, or 800 Degrees. I’m not saying I wouldn’t come back and give them another try. The wine, the salad, and the pizza’s crust really showed their quality, and I can’t help but hope my pizza was a fluke. It’s also a neighborhood joint, so I wouldn’t be hard pressed to come back. But life is too short for flavorless pizza, with or without cheese.

Loved the Margherita pizza, took me back to my days in Rome and Naples. They have the true neapolitan pizza, you will not be disappointed. Also, It’s a cute place and I love the open kitchen. Hubby ordered the sausage pizza and it was good but the Margherita is the Bomb! I really wanted to try their Zucchini pizza but there is only so much I can eat at one time! I cant wait to come back and try it. We went early for dinner on a weekday, so there was no problem getting seated but its not a big space and I can see waiting for a table if you come past 7 pm. Friendly service and great fresh ingredients make this a hit for me. I can’t wait to be back!

I came here for a birthday party and between the 8 of us we ordered 7 different pies and they were all absolutely amazing. Each one was totally unique as well which was great. Since they’re all done in a brick oven, they also have a great char to the bottom of them which is just amazing. The wait staff is also very friendly and had no problem dealing with our crazy group… even when my wife and I showed up about an hour late. I wish I could tell you which pizza is the best to get, but I honestly couldn’t tell ya. You’re just going to have to try them all and come up with your own decision.

These are supposed to be personal sized pizzas, but three of us split a couple of them to start since the server told us how quickly they can make them(a minute in the 800+ degree wood-fired oven) so we could easily order another. The crust, not quite crunchy but also not that doughy, does come a bit burnt on some edges, but I liked it a lot. The SOPPRESSATA came topped with thinly sliced soppressata, tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, huge chunks of shishito peppers, basil and crushed pistachios. The BABYCLAM, a sauce-less pizza, was topped with lots of chopped baby clams, buffalo mozzarella, parsley, and thin slices of lemon. There’s garlic, butter and extra virgin olive oil too. Overall, both pizzas were enjoyable. The shishito peppers are hard to keep on your slice when you’re eating, and not my first choice as a topping, but interesting nonetheless. I really liked how the lemon balanced the flavor of the baby clams. We did also order the WHITEANCHOVYCROSTINI for an appetizer. It’s a small taster when three people share it. The spanish white anchovies were not overly salty and there’s also basil, aged parmigiano-reggiano and orange zest to round it out.

Mother Dough named after the ‘pre-ferment’ process of which they have adopted is a magnificent wood fire pizza joint. Their 6,000 pound oven lights up at 850 degrees Fahrenheit, cooking your personal Neapolitan pie in just a mere sixty seconds. Now I’ve been to Masa and yes they are as every bit as delicious as everyone says they are but if I had to pick between the two I would choose Mother Dough every day of the week and twice on Sundays because they are every bit as good without the pretentious crowded bullshit of Masa. The sauce, cheese and texture of the bread remind me of Neapolitan pies that I’ve consumed in Florence, Rome and Naples. The sauce in particular they have nailed down to a tee. It’s true Italian pie dressing. Their wine list is actually very good and pair well with their pizzas. The only thing stopping me from giving Mother Dough five stars are two things. One, they need to up their appetizer game a little. There aren’t many options and the ones that are there aren’t that exciting. Two, though the simple industrial space is super chill and allows for a relaxed environment, it is a little too dressed down for the quality and price of the menu. This place after all is catering to the couple and dating crowd. Two dudes are not spending this kind if cash to eat za and If I am going to spend 80 – 90 bucks on two small pies, two glasses of wine and one appetizer, the least they can do is, dim the lighting a little, throw some candles on the tables and dress the joint up a tad. It’s a date spot, take a half hour and make it feel like one. That being said, I’ve diving into one of their circles of joy one afternoon very soon. I just won’t make it my date night with me lady.
