Great sangria and cool atmosphere. Right next door to the fashion mart for those of us in the industry. Was there on a Thursday and they had a DJ spinning old vinyl — funk, etc. check it out!

This is a lovely space, historical building, huge Windows, comfortable bar, safe and classy without being pretentious or snobby. I am visiting LA and this is my favorite find so far for a little beer and tapas. Nice selection of beer, wine and full bar too. Service and food are outstanding. I had the Tamale Vale!($ 5) and the Hop Notch IPA organic($ 5).

So I’m one of those people who never write reviews, but totally live by the opinions of people I’ve never met when it comes to where to go, what to eat, and why to avoid whatever Unilocal says. However, I’m breaking my rule today. I’m breaking it because Pattern Bar rocked my world and I think people should like to know how. See, I was gonna propose. On a Saturday around noon. And I needed a place to surprise my future ‘married-filing-jointly’ with a big party of our friends. I went all over downtown looking at spots. I spent a few hours talking to bartenders and restaurant managers. Most were nice. For a huge dollar amount, plus tax, plus gratuity, plus service fee, they’d gimme an area of their bar and provide a bartender. The numbers were obnoxious. Really. So I kept looking. Then I accidentally walked into Pattern Bar. I remembered that I had been there for a wedding reception a few months before and had fun. Alex(the proprietor) was sitting at a table doing some work. No, they weren’t open, but could he help me? I explained what I was doing and what I was looking for. At that point he just said awesome things over and over again. Yes, we’d love to have your party here. No, we won’t charge you a minimum. We’ll open up just for you. How bout you pick some items from our main menu just for your occasion? Would you like personalized menus? Sure you can decorate! He just went on and on being as helpful as can be. They made great drinks. Great food. My friends were happy. I was happy. It. Was. Awesome. Go to this place. It’s rocks.

First visited the place while waiting for our reservations across the street @ Woodspoon. One drink in and already we knew Pattern Bar is a winner. Great music, vibe, drinks, and awesome service. On our last visit we had an even better time, chopping it up with the owner and being treated to a few tasty treats on the house. You really feel at home there.

Yes! They have Fernet! My absolute favorite digestif! I was early for the November DTLA Art Walk so I came to Pattern Bar a little early to grab a snack. I had the most amazing cheese plate… the pesto cheese was the most memorable because it was delicious and it had these emerald green lines of pesto traced through the cheese. It wasn’t too busy around 4pm on a Thursday which made it easy to chat with the bartender who was super nice!

Amazing experience and amazing staff! My girlfriend wanted to have her birthday party here for 2 years now. Finally it worked out to where we were able to book. I emailed the place and they responded right away. The person who answered the phone confirmed my reservation and kept me up to date and confirmed. The place has several amazing drinks that any fashionista would love. The Chanel was probably the most popular in our group. We had a birthday cake and all of our friends had a blast. The food was amazing. The bambino, a pastrami type sandwich, was so delicious. I ordered 3. The staff was amazing and they really made our experience there awesome. Have been here before this celebration and the environment was cool.

This place is around the block from my office. Walked in at 7:15pm on a Tuesday with a coworker for a drink and a bite. The place was more than half empty but the bartender directed us to an awkward dark corner though more preferable tables were available. Then we sat there for about 15 minutes before he even came back to take our drink order. Our drinks came promptly but he never came back to check on us. We had to flag him down to request the bill. The service was disappointing, whether they were busy or not– but this was definitely a slow night and there was no excuse for poor service.

Wonderful experience! My new husband and I recently hosted our wedding reception(more of a fun party, actually) there, and every detail was fantastic. Alex, the co-owner, took such good care of us — we met with him a few months before, about the menu and cocktail offerings, and he was so thoughtful about the details of what our families might like, event timing and flow, florals, everything! He was really committed to making the event a success, and so accessible when we had questions. We really appreciated that he was there the night of the event — making sure things went smoothly(he set aside a plate for my husband and me, since the bride and groom rarely actually get to eat!), and that everyone was having a good time. The bar is beautiful on a normal day, and was gorgeous that night — huge open windows onto 9th and Main, and gorgeous dark wood and thoughtful details everywhere. Our guests are still raving about how delicious the food and drinks were, and we’re still raving about how great Pattern Bar is. A HUGE shout out to Alex and Eduardo and the rest of the team!

Nice open space on the corner of 9th and Main with a Columbian menu and cocktails inspired by fashion designers. Many of the building’s inhabitants are young designers, and you’ll see them enjoying an early cocktail here occasionally. A lot of DJs seem to pass through, too, and I think you have to check who’s spinning on Instagram. I just pop in, if I’m walking by. The crowd rotates based on the DJ, so I would not go out of my way to come here, but it would be on my list if I were in the area. I’ve had a really good time here out of the blue.

A book end to a DTLA bar hopping track. It’s a great little lounge that has a great space that isn’t too crowded. The drink names were funny and after designer brands, so I particularly enjoyed the Hermes! 3 stars is harsh, maybe 3.5 but really I wonder if it would be better with more people before they busted out the DJ and music? If you’re looking for drinks and space though this is definitely a solid location.

Really weird place, does it get busy? My wrap was good, my drink was alriiiiiight, my friend hated her sangria and didn’t think her empanada/taco/whatever it was was very good or interesting. Awesome location, but I kinda want something cooler to take its place… I know that’s mean but… –____– The ambience was off, the booths were all torn up and we couldn’t tell if it was on purpose or on accident, either way — bad choice. Lots of cool spots downtown, I wouldn’t return to this one.

I want to like this place, but I can’t give more than 3 stars. The portions are really small considering price. I guess that’s how«fancy» people do it, but meh. That said, none of the food was really out of this world either. The bartender was bland, no personality, not chatty, nothing really. Like someone else said, it’s like he didn’t want to be there. I tried the blackberry and whiskey drink. It wasn’t bad. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. But he also took my glass before I was done. My second drink was the whiskey with balsamic vinegar and basil, it was actually pretty good. My friend got two vodka drinks but wasn’t really impressed with either. All in all, just another run of the mill over-priced craft cocktail place. Oh, and they were out of Mac n’ Cheese?! Boo.

Chill, hip, and right at the heart of dtla. This bar is pretty packed on the weekends with a good mixed crowd. Parking is located around the corner or on the streets. There wasn’t a line getting in and what’s even better is that there is no cover for admissions. I liked how there is plenty of space to walk around. They also have places to sit if your fetes gets tired. This place is a good spot for bday celebrations.

I wish I could give this place 5 Stars but the bartender was just awful. His lack of personality and I don’t wanna be here attitude was so bazaar. Ok so now for the good stuff. The food is really quality. We got there just in time for happy hour. 5 – 720%off the the whole menu. Really reasonable prices we loved the beet and Burratta salad cheese tamale and hummus plate. Really nice portions for tapa style. The drinks are all named after couture designers which is really cute being in the garment district. I will be back and I really hope the guy who served us has a better attitude. Considering we all know that the service industry is based on tips you think you have a little interest in pleasing and providing your guests with the best customer service.

We came in around 9:15 as the restaurant said it closed at 10, but the bartender told us everything was closing in 5 minutes… uh okay. So we had to order on the spot. Their drinks are named after designers which I thought was very cute and appropriate to the name of the bar. Started out with the McQueen and the Chanel drink, and both were really good. I loved the Chanel drink as it had a hint of jalapeño and was slightly sour but was so so good. As for food, we ordered the Cuban sliders, the P&B, the Les Oeufs, and the Ceviche. The Cuban Sliders which came with braised pork, ham, caramelized onions, swiss cheese, banana peppers, cilantro, and home made aioli was delicious. The sandwich was pressed, and the combination of everything was yummy! The P&B was my favorite dish. Basically a prosciutto board with burrata and grapes with toast. The combination of the salty prosciutto and the creamy burrata basically cancelled out the saltiness and made the dish very light and with the grapes, it was the best combination ever. I recommend getting this dish as a starter. The Les Oeufs was basically eggs on top of prosciutto with bread. Presentation was very nice, and it was also a good dish. So much prosciutto, but loving all of it. Last but not least, we got the ceviche. The fish of the day was shrimp, and although this dish was my least favorite, it was still good. The shrimp came in larger pieces, and there were two pieces of avocado on top. Not too sour, but overall a nice, light entrée. Really enjoyed the food and drinks here, but it felt really rushed as they were closing. Wish I had more time to try some of the other drinks and food that they offered. Love the theme and atmosphere of this bar!

Since I am a high end designer, fashion whore, I had to pay a visit to the Pattern Bar and pay homage to a place that names their drinks after my designer heroes. Pattern Bar is aptly located in the Fashion District of Downtown LA. It’s an industrial type building with an open airy feel and for it’s location, the bar is appropriately sized. My friends ordered cocktails based on their love of a designer and a design house more so than the list of ingredients that comprised them. Now that’s branding power! Especially, since some had drinks they disliked because of the intense combination of alcohol. The list of designers on the drink menu evolve with the trends. There used to be a Galliano on the menu, but it is there no longer, after his fallout with Dior. The forever classic Chanel, though, seems to be a staple.

Arrived with a group of friends after splurging on hot dogs & fries. Everyone ordered something different, so I took a chance. I really don’t know what possessed me to order The Chanel, but I went for it. This drink will literally throw you into spicy oblivion. Its packed with serrano peppers, cilantro, bitters, etc. I had to go back to the bar to ask for more lime juice! I could barely handle it, and call me a wuss but I owned up to it. I did appreciate the theme of this bar, being on the cusp of the Fashion District in DTLA and a hit with the FIDM students. All walks of life came through this bar, and the DJ was pretty fun too. The ambiance is dimly lit, romantic but trendy yet minimalistic. It was nice to hit up a new place but not sure if I will be back.

McQueen, Lagerfeld, Chanel… If all the fashion designers gathered in the fashion capital of the Westcoast one day in their fabulous life, they should be nowhere else but at Pattern Bar, having drinks named after them. Yes, everything at Pattern Bar is cleverly designed around fashion, music, and whatever extension of the two industries that were meant to twist and twine together to make this block of the district more in sync for its business breed and crowd. Vintage sewing machine at the window, alternative and eclectic music throughout the day, mosaic tiles, dark wood furniture… Buyers, designers, photographers, models, artists… Garmentos that needed a break or a casual conversation or bites during their day, come here, relax, reflect, recharge, regain a sense of belonging… Or perhaps, just breathe the stress away so that they can go back to their crazy sassy world. And if you are not part of this clothing jungle but a banker or IT guru or whatever… this is also the perfect casual joint for you. Be amused, be served, mix in, nothing can go wrong. My regular favorites: Caprese panini with chicken The MacQueen(cocktail) The bar stool lol The music… Owner of the place is a DJ so I heard. Anyone that brings the perfect marriage between fashion and music with the right cocktail mix is definitely someone that knows how to work, play, and Live. Cheers to Pattern Bar. Thanks for stitching it all together :)
