This is a tiny library in a little nook by westlake. It’s well stocked and even if they don’t have what you’re looking for they can order it and usually it can be ready for pickup in a few days!!!

surprisingly nice interior at this branch of the library. i noted it was redone in 2004, and this was a success! i expected greater manginess because of the location on alvarado south of olympic, but was rewarded with tidy dapperness. unfortuately, there was only one employee at the check-out desk, who was with a guy who had an ongoing complaint, so i ultimately gave up waiting to check something out and hoofed it. still, it’s nice to finally see how civilized it is in there.

Just a short trip from the huge downtown branch, the Pico Union library has most of the benefits of the flagship library without the crazy parking and humongous size. It’s easy to place books on hold online as with any other branch, and you pick them up from the librarian on duty near the entrance. There’s a large parking lot immediately adjacent to the library that is FREE(unlike the validation-required underground lot downtown). I’ve always found a spot, and handicapped spots are available. The building has a Spanish architecture vibe. It has computer terminals, tables for studying and reading, and is generally pretty busy(in a good way).
