This a great local taco /authentic Mexican joint. Very simple, just one very kind man working the kitchen and taking orders, so don’t expect anything fancy. But the tacos are delicious, and I highly recommend the bean & cheese burrito. Great neighborhood spot. Has a nice mini salsa bar, too.

Oldest food I’ve ever had to eat because I was so hungry. Never will I return. I can’t believe the food was so old, rubbery and it even tasted and smelled old. Why… WHY would anyone serve their customers this crap?! Only thing good were the tortillas and Coke. I didn’t even ask for my money back I just plain left and left the food there. How disgusting. It was weird that the place was completely empty. That should’ve cause a red flag for me. Ugh

There’s a lot of Mexican style restaurants in Los Angeles, but only few resemble authentic Mexican style dishes usually only found in or available in Mexico. This place has a ton of varieties of dishes and things to choose from. I called ahead and placed my order for the Lengua(tongue) torta and quesadilla, with a glass bottled Coke soda. The torta which is basically a Mexican sandwich was very delicious and well made. I liked that they were okay with the option of adding extra stuff in; I added avocado to mine. The quesadillas were perfectly cheesy, and the Coke soda in the glass bottle just adds to the authenticity of the meals. This place also carries Jarritos and fresh Mexican style waters but call ahead and ask if they have those ready! They were out today Of waters and also of nopales(cactus) too. Overall the food was great! The service was friendly and humble. There is also plenty of seating and open tables with natural lighting to come and eat your food here. I can’t wait to come again and try more dishes off their menu! If you want Mexican food without having to travel 2⁄3 hours, the authenticity is right here!

Not only do the prices do you so kind for the amount of food you get, the service is incredible. I was called and asked«did you really want Quesillo on your nachos?» and I realized that I didn’t know what Quesillo was a certain kind of cheese(not just«cheese»). They adjusted the order, and had called on the whim that I had no clue. Now I’m eating delicious nachos with extra cheese, not extra Quesillo. Yum

Order came fast but the asada tacos was rock hard and burnt. Or was it the al pastor… On top didn’t get the 2nd squirt soda. Scared to eat the asada burrito now. But we will see. Ordered via grubhub.

I give this place two stars. It’s nestled right on the corner of Burdock and Santa Monica in West LA near my job. The first time I ate here I had carne asada tacos on my lunch break and they were great. I went back the next week and ordered chicken enchiladas, which came with black beans and Spanish rice. Huge mistake. The black beans were basically like black bean juice, there were no legumes visible on my plate. The Spanish rice tasted like sink water, don’t ask how that’s the only way I can describe the taste. The enchiladas themselves were terrible. The chicken was like warm and rubbery and tasted old. I had to extend my lunch break to return the enchiladas and exchange them for chicken tacos. The tacos were just as terrible. I’ve come to the conclusion that the chicken here is just plain terrible. Whatever you do. DONOTORDERANYTHINGWITHCHICKENHERE. It’s disgusting. I won’t be going back, unless I want something simple like chips and salsa.

I normally don’t frequent hole-in-the-wall mexican spots without checking it out on Unilocal first but I gotta say that this was a pleasant experience. Pili’s Taco had some killer Carne Asada tacos! The chicken was just ok but worth a try. I wouldn’t really recommend sitting there unless you are with a small group but a great idea to take some home and enjoy authentic mexican food. Keep up the great work!

Id say it has some pretty tasty quesadillas too. Nothing fancy here but some tasty, decent, quality and quick mexican food.

BESTCHICKENTACOSEVER. This little place is a true gem in the neighborhood for Mexican food. The dishes are fresh, delicious, AUTHENTIC, and homemade. Also, the prices are below what you would expect to pay for great food at a Westside restaurant — $ 1.50 for one amazingly yummy taco? Holy sh*t. I usually buy four at a time for dinner, and this only costs me $ 6, which is awesome when you consider how freaking YUMMY their tacos are. I also recommend their Juegas con Frutas(FRESH fruit & vegetable juice), which they blend from freshly cut fruits(oranges, pineapples, etc.) and vegetables(carrots, etc.) right after you place your order. In Santa Monica, you would pay $ 6+ for the same type of freshly blended juice at a juice stop like Nekter Juice. Here at Pili’s, the same thing is only $ 3.25. F*ck yeah. :) LOVE Pili’s! This is my new go-to for when I’m craving fresh, authentic, family-style Mexican food.

I absolutely love this little hole in the wall. I work in Santa Monica for a busy law firm and our days can be quite hectic. I was very pleased to find this place open late into the evening one night after working several hours without a break. This family owned restaurant offers authentic, homemade dishes and quick service. It has turned into a weekly stop for me and my coworker.

Unfairly maligned! Minus a star for the pastor, it’s strangely crunchy and not that good. But everything else here is wonderful — that quesillo taco is just splendid, the chile relleno burrito is *spectacular*, and the sopes are near perfection. Friendly, pleasant service. Don’t believe the naysayers.

Ya, good. Just grabbed a couple of tacos but they were über-cheap, tortillas were nummy and the customer service was top notch. I highly suggest this place after late-night drinks at Mom’s, down the street.

Overall, this is good Mexican food. The meat has never been dry or tough or bland. The dishes are simple, standard Mexican dishes. I’ve tried everything from the tacos, to wet burritos, from nachos, to sopes. And every time, good. Not amazing, good. The price is quite modest, and the staff is friendly. I would be interested to see how they would do if they opened their menu up and tried new things. But, if it stays just how it is, it will always be, good.

It was good. Just a little hole in the wall place close by. The workers are friendly and the space itself is clean. I had a taco and the BF had taquitos. Great place to grab a quick bite for lunch and its pretty cheap too!

I am a fan of San Diego Mexican, food, so thats what I set the bar at. The quality of food here is a 6.5 out of 10.(Overcooked asada, other ingredients were fair quality). OPENSUPERLATE! Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching! 10⁄10 Filthy tables and dirty photo paper images on the wall of the food. They have a little store selling knick-nacks, candy, and mexican products which is kind of cool.

Came here at 1pm on a Saturday. Give them 3 stars for staying open so late. Need more late night spots in the area. The man working seemed cranky. Really ruins my restaurant experience when I have to deal with angry staff. My boyfriend ordered a Carne Asada burrito combo, which says it comes with rice and beans INSIDE the burrito… WTF, don’t burritos generally have rice and beans inside??? Not really a combo. I ordered 2 fish tacos and a side of beans. They forgot to give me the beans but luckily I checked and asked. The fish tacos were not very good. Edible but not fresh — kinda fishy masked in the batter. The beans were not great either. I like mushy ones and these had some whole pinto beans in them. The salsa bar was good. Give it 3 ½ stars. Dark green salsa was my fave! Overall price is too high for the food and food kinda lacks taste but hours are great. Unfortunately don’t think I’ll be making my way back here again…

Maybe it was the loud, drunken homeless guys out front, or the super high eyes of the guy who made our burritos that made this place way less impressive to me when DG and I came here for dinner last night. We got wet burritos to go — mine was lengua and cabeza with only avocado, onion and cilantro and DG’s was chicken with rice and beans. I remember the meat being tastier the last time I was here, so I don’t know if it was an off night or if the scene here turned my taste buds south. I’d come back though — the prices are good, it’s close, open late, they have fresh juices, and they actually have lengua and cabeza(my faves) on the menu.
