Awful. I have never seen a restaurant more filthy than this. Waiting is over 20 mins. If u ask for grilled is an extra 30 mins wait. What a disappointment.

The people here are really nice but I can’t send anyone here. The food wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. Don’t order the fried chicken, order the grilled. It’s tastier and I would assume, less fattening. I must say that the coleslaw was pretty good. I would avoid this place because you have to walk through human waste just to get here. The stench of urine fills the air and really destroys any appetite. I really don’t know how people can live like this. If I was a business owner, I’d pay a couple hundred bucks and have the sidewalk pressure washed to at least try and clean the place up.

I came here yesterday I took them almost half an hour to have my food ready would come back but have the food ready more faster. they gave plastic cups meaning you can take soda outside with you they only give you the other cups like the ones at McDonald’s only when you order to go.

A friend of mine always talked about the chicken here, so the stomach said to give it a try. The chicken was pretty d*mn good. Seasoned and crispy. Minus 1 star for cold fries and barely full side of rice. Minus 1 star because meal was on pricier side. Price per piece of chicken a little high.

I am a creature of habit. I normally go to the same restaurants I like and order the same dishes that I know I like. I have come to a realization that this kind of behavior negates my lifetime goal of being a TRUE UnilocalER!!! One fateful, cloudy day. I felt quite lonesome after not eating anything while at work because we were so busy. I decided to reward my tummy with something good whether it’s healthy or not. My mouth kept saying Church’s Fried Chicken but my mind said, «Heck, no! The drive is too far.» Such a dilemma. Then I remembered they just opened Pollo Campero recently around the area. My mouth started to water thinking of how good it will taste. Walking in, I stood quiet lost in the middle of the store till I looked up and saw a sign that says«Wait here.» Wait for what? Ooohh. That’s where the line starts. Yo intiendo. Vamonos. The line wasn’t too long so I had enough time to look at their overhead menu and also to see a few flies buzz around. Yum! This review is dragging. Fast forward! Friend Chicken(1 star) — no flavor, skin wasn’t crispy. Just sad. Yuca Fries(2 stars) — the only redeeming thing from what I ordered. Only 2 stars because its not hard to fry yuca. Fried Plantains(1 star) — why? why do this to banana? It tasted like they went to the store and signed a contract to buy the ones that are getting too ripe. Then they’ll fry it and sell as a side dish. This made me want to go to an asian store, get my own plantains and fry them myself. Except I was too tired from work. Did I finish it? Yes. *hangs head* My momma taught me to not waste food. Actually, I won’t lie. I gave the rest to my doggies who were only too happy to gobble the meat down. That’s not wasting food because it’s different from throwing it away. I bet my doggies gave Pollo Campero 5 stars in DoggYelp. I paid $ 32 for 12 pieces of chicken, yuca fries and fried plantains. NOTWORTHIT.

Ok, time for the update. I love their food still. Their chicken is addicting, and it doesn’t help that our neighborhood smells like it. Thing is, the service is not that great. They are really slow, and they don’t call out orders in order. Also, by slow I mean WAY slow. The employes are confused half the time, and it’s painful to watch.

These people charge INSANE amounts of money for their chicken. Even though their chicken is sitting under a hot lamp all day, it takes FOREVER to get food, and they charge over $ 2 per PIECE. If you just want 5 drumsticks, it’s about $ 10.50. They charge $ 20 for a whole chicken! You can get drumsticks that taste way better at Ralphs for $ 0.80 a piece, or $ 7 for a whole chicken, and even that’s pricey. This place is a ripoff.

The flavor of the chicken is completely different from your traditional fried chicken joints… KFC, Popeyes, Churches, etc… It is absolutely delicious !! I’m rating it 3 stars because the service is poor and the place is across the street from MacArthur Park, so you can imagine the riff raff running around this location. My advice get it to go and eat it else where. Oh and if you do decide to go, tell the cashier you saw the billboard and you want the Super Campero Meal… You get 3 pc dark chicken, 2 sides, 1 dinner roll and a drink for $ 5.99 !! This would normally cost you $ 8.99 The campero beans are a must as one of your sides. You’ll be happy you tried them.

This chicken is originally from Guatemala. It has expanded into several Latin American countries and has been here for a few years. I grew up with this chicken and the chicken here is good, but not as good as Pollo Campero in the Motherland. Reason why it is still often smuggled into the country: D I do believe the chicken is a bit overpriced, but I still love it. Many will down-star it just because they come in expecting Church’s or KFC prices. I am just basing my review on flavor, and the flavor is really good. If you allow your palate to get over the price, you can definitely taste the different spices, and flavors and juiciness in the chicken. If you allow your palate to taste it, you can see why this is better than KFC. They lose a star because it can get rather crowded and annoying but gain it back for pure nostalgic reasons: D

Been wanting to try this place for a little while. Finally tried it for lunch the other day with my co-worker. She tells me this place is very popular in El Savador and its sorta like the latin KFC. So I ordered a 2 pc combo meal which was about $ 6 – 7 with a choice of 1 side; got the mash potatoes and gravy(drink, beans and dinner roll/tortilla included). and it was just okay. Nothing special about it. They do have a Wednesday special which is two pieces of chicken for $ 1. Maybe I would go back for that if i was in the mood for some chicken since there are no Popeyes near my work =(

Love their fried chicken, fried plantain and fried yucca. I already visited twice and in both times the wait time took forever. People(including me) who were waiting for their order were already agitated due to lack of communication of what’s going on. Something’s wrong with this branch and I hope the higher management will take notice. (10÷20÷12) I am now upgrading my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. Thrice I’ve been there since my first review and I think the situation has improved.

Came across this joint on route to visit a patient in LA. The grillled chicken is good. With some lime, side of black beans and green salad, your set! They have agua frescas aswell. On 2 occasions, here and another locale, the grilled pollo wasn’t ready and waited 15 mins. Last time resorted to the fried pollo and it was wack. Grilled is the way to go! check it out!

don’t beleive the hype! i’ve been wanting to try this place ever since it was featured on one of those foodie shows. 3 months later, franchises popping up all over the place like it was pinkberry! and then came a groupon offer and i took the bait like a fish in a pond. maybe it was this particular franchise, but it was a huge dissapointment. the chicken they gave us was cooked hours before and sitting under heat lamps = dry and not fresh at all. tried my best to be positive and enjoy it but is just wan’t that good. in fact it was pretty bad and i will not be back.
