i have never heard of this place and didnt realize i was coming here until we had arrived, it was a week night and didnt seem busy at all, we sat in the dining area and the décor was very cool, i personally prefer dim lighting over bright anytime so i was enjoying it, the fried mozzerella was probably my favorite part about this place, they were sooo tasty! the only downside about this place to me was that i wasnt really happy with our waitress, she seemed rude and acted as if she was over her day, my friend purposely left her tip in cents lol i want to come back but for the bar area.

This place is packed all the time. It’s impossible to get a table inside during the weekends. My party and I sat outside. It took forever just for the waitress to give us our menus. She brought us muffins and bread with butter. The muffin was soooo good! It had raisins and nuts. I ordered the Fettuccini and minestrone soup. I expected my soup first but waitress forgot all about it until I mentioned it when she brought my Fettuccini. The pasta was flavorless but creamy. I wish they added more garlic and salt. The minestrone soup, however, was very delicious! I seen people order pizza and it looked really good. I really like this place. The music was banging and I got kind of high in the patio due to the reefer smoke. I believe they let you smoke pot in the patio. Which is fine with me! Maybe that’s why I didn’t mind the flavorless Fettuccini. Haha!

I finally got to check this place out around New Years 2016 and once again after Lemmy of Motörhead’s passing. It doesn’t feel the same knowing Lemmy won’t be sitting playing his favorite game by the end of the bar anymore. His legacy and memory now live there forever however! Many don’t know that this restaurant was once known as the«Villa Nova». Charlotte Dale, first opened the Villa Nova in 1935 with her husband Allen(some say with funding from Charlie Chaplin) and Mikael Maglieri, son of the now Rainbow’s original owner, Mario Maglieri. The Rainbow Bar is now a place with immense history and untold stories. The décor within the dining area is something for any music aficionado to gaze and admire. Records, portraits, guitars, and drum cymbals and drumsticks decorate the walls. Upstairs, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered a ship and are ready to sail! The Rainbow is like a maze, if you don’t know how to maneuver, you’ll feel as if you’re lost. The entrance to the Rainbow is to the left of the Roxy theatre. There, you’ll find the bar and outside patio area. Head inside and you’ll enter the dining room area to the right. See if you can spot the fish tank on your way in from the outdoor patio. To the right of the dining room, there are stairs; Take those up to another bar upstairs as well as their VIP area which reminds you of being in an attic. Take one flight of stairs down and you’ll find yourself by the dance floor. Take another flight of stairs down again and you’ll enter the outdoor bar area which is to the right when you come in initially. Feels like an easy getaway if you’re on a bad date or in a sticky situation. The food is actually really delicious here! I recommend their cheese balls which some will say are mozzarella sticks in the form of balls. The pizza here is great as well. The waitresses are sweet and friendly. Each waitress has their own unique and individual style. I mean c’mon it is the Rainbow. The drinks here are plentiful. I think now the Rainbow will be serving a lot of Lemmy’s in light of the legend passing. For those of who you might be familiar, the Lemmy is now Jack Daniels and Coca Cola served cold. Overall a fun bar and restaurant. My new favorite hang out spot. If you want a good time, I suggest coming on the weekends but if you want a mellow quiet night out, try coming here during the week. You really never know who will show up through its doors, as it is often frequented by Rock & Roll celebs. It is a place with a lot of history and memories. Lemmy from Motörhead had a designated chair in the back, and it is said that John Belushi ate his last meal there before making it back to the Château Marmont. See you next time guys!!! And long live Motörhead! \m/\m/

A fantastic museum, bar, and rock and roll hangout. We’d been out on the town and my good mate insisted on going to the Rainbow Bar. A big fan of Motorhead, he hoped to see the great Lemmy Kilmister. Well Lemmy just passed, sad. I guess he hung out here every day. The Rainbow Bar is an institution. Super busy on a New Year’s Night. We ordered a couple beers and looked around a bit, headed upstairs. The tap selection was dismal. Peroni, Sam Adams Lager, and Blue Moon. I was done drinking, but settled for a pint of Sam Adams. Loads of pictures to gaze at, several different rooms and all sorts of nooks and crannys to duck into. I could have stayed for hours. Fun, rock n roll vibe. It felt a bit like being in an old ship. There was a tribute outside the bar for Lemmy. I saw their restaurant looked very intriguing and full of people. They must have good fare. I recommend if you like history, music, cool dive bars. Oh BTW, $ 7 to get in, no live show that I saw.

Dammit Lemmy, you were supposed to live forever. Heaven just got a lot louder. (Yes, I’ve eaten here you ‘elite’ Unilocalers, clearly not Motorhead fans and definitely not deserving of our extravagant lifestyle: WEARETHEROADCREW!) Food: nice. Décor nice. Cleintelle: the best in the business… until just recently.

What can I say: It’s Lemmy’s bar. Great service, awesome drinks, spectacular ambiance, okay pizza, the beating heart of the Sunset Strip.

Ah, I love the Rainbow! If you’re in LA and you don’t go to the Rainbow at least once you’re doing it wrong. Great music, friendly atmosphere, perhaps slightly pricier drinks than expected but amazing food. I initially started going to the Rainbow for just the bar but then someone suggested the food. I did and the only regret I have is that when I’m back in England I’m left craving that deep fried mozzarella. Okay, I have a thing for deep fried cheese as it is, but these cube of mozzarella are something else. When I ordered them I thought $ 10 was a bit pricey but the portion is HUGE. But they’re chunky and gooey and delicious and perfect. I get them every time I’m there. My favourite main course is the chicken parmigiana. Another giant portion of breaded chicken, ham, cheese and marinara sauce on top of spaghetti. I have a huge appetite but I can’t finish it. And it comes with a(delicious and I don’t even like soup) side soup. Great value. I’ve only had dessert once — the tiramisu. It was ok. To be fair it was when they had just reopened and were operating without a kitchen so probably wasn’t representative of their usual dessert standard so I won’t hold it against them. There seems to be some confusion over a cover charge. I’ve only had to pay once, late on a Friday. It was $ 5 and could be exchanged for a drink which actually was a pretty good deal.

How does this place remain open? The service completely sucks. The servers could care less about the customers. The food is sub-par at best. I felt like I was robbed by this restaurant. If it wasn’t for the history of the Rainbow it would have closed long ago and forgotten. Do yourself a favor. Drive by and don’t stop.

This place is the coolest of the cool. Great food(huge portions) with a lot of variety on the menu ranging from burgers, pizza, Italian to a broad range of comfort food. It has serious bad ass ambience(dimly lit, autographed musician photos everywhere, red vinyl booths and rainbow Xmas lights!) and the staff is so friendly! You never know who you’re sitting next to — could be in a band, could be a TV personality, could be the owner — no matter, everyone is super nice and unpretentious — including the valet crew. Absolutely love this place!

WOW! This place is intense! Even though it’s not like what used to be, for me it’s still intense. What a treat yo finally see where some of my favorite rock stars(like Motley Crüe) used to hang out! Not a place for me nowadays but my 20 year old self would LOVED this place! The good is mediocre but the portions are huge so go hungry if you decide to eat Warning: if you don’t like to drink, smoke or do drugs(not sure they still do that here), you may wanna choose a different venue

The legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill. Coming here was an epic experience. That’s right I said epic! :) The amount of history inside this place is unbelievable. So many legendary rock and metal bands from the past have drank in here, eaten, banged etc. Hot bartenders work there and the milf I chatted to who shared a joint with me was easy on the eyes also. I mean her knockers are HUGE! Stifler’s Mommmmmmm!!! The memorabilia all over the walls inside is awesome, and the band names outside on the brick wall is something you’ve gotta see. Bands such as KoRn, Led Zeppelin, White Zombie, Smashing Pumpkins, Van Halen, AC/DC, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Rammstein, Pantera and more are on it. I didn’t try the food but I shall next time if I ever get the opportunity to return as it looks really good. *licks lips* I met DJ Qualls(Road Trip, Breaking Bad etc.) the first time I went in and he was a blast to chat to. So yeah, I definitely recommend you check out Rainbow if you’re a fan of rock and metal. 5⁄5 \m/

We were VERY badly treated by a brunet waitress, she was terrible and mean. The place seems so cool, the front door guy is really nice, but this brunet waitress from the diner room is terrible rude! Very disappointed at this place…

I can use your reaction to the Rainbow as the perfect metric for whether we’re going to be compatible as friends. It’s simple: if you have a problem with the Rainbow, you are either A) my mom, or B) a whiney douchebag. We’re not going to work out. The Rainbow is THE perfect rock n roll dining experience. Unequaled anywhere else on Earth. You hear that, Kuma’s Corner? You listening, Rock n Brews? The food, the drinks, the music, the people, the freaks, the atmosphere, the attitude, the ghosts of days and nights gone by, the history of this place is still living and breathing and wheezing in the walls and counters… In the booths, on the patio, in the bathrooms, the parking lot. Food: The pizza is sloppy awesome. The filet mignon is tender, juicy, grilled to perfection. My personal favorite? The Chinese chicken salad… Heaven in a bowl. I’ve been coming to the Bow since the late 80s and have never ONCE had anything but a great time and great food. If you have a problem here, the problem lies with YOU, not the Rainbow. Of special note: all the bartenders here are the best in the business, but Maria is particularly gifted. Find her. Bow to her. Offer her your liver, because it’s hers now anyway.

I had wanted to come here for a long time but never went before I moved out of CA. While visiting a friend in Hollywood recently he suggest we swing by there. It was a good idea. Aside from the rude waitress/hostess when we walked in the rest of it was a good experience. We were just going to sit at the bar outside and have a few drinks. The food that grumpy waitress was serving looked pretty uninspiring, however the atmosphere at the bar was a different story. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were great. Took a break between drinks to use the restroom and saw the inside of the place. It is just a trip! The whole thing is a dark party. Tables were already being filled and saw some easily recognizable faces for anyone who is a true fan of guitar driven music. I bought a couple of shot glasses as souvenirs and opted to not be one of «those guys» asking the lead singer of a 90s band for a photo. We paid our tab a short while later and were off to the next spot on my whirlwind trip. I do know that the next time I am in LA I will for sure some back here to soak up some of the history that is all over the walls of this place. It really should be a historical location or registered spot with the venue next door.

Rock n Roll Bar to the max! From the early 70’s the gods of rock n roll and wanna be’s have graced the sunset strip and dined partied like rock stars. I’ve dined many times and have always been satisfied with my food. Pizza & cocktails are a must when dining here. FRANKS favorite is the mouth watering RAINBOWPIZZA. Perfect amount of fresh mozzarella cheese, grease and meat. The is a pizza lovers delight. Or just make your own if you choose to to try one of there specials. I’m also a fan of the steak sandwich but ask for extra bread so u can really make it a sandwich. I’m sure your a rock n roll alcohol consumer if your drinking here but make sure you grab the always toxic«Long Island Ice Tea» cause after 2 you’ll forget your name. FRANKS drank all over the world but damn this drink kicks me to the curb every time. Make sure you wander around cause the rock n roll memorabilia makes this place the true Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Mario and the boys have served everyone from Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Motley Crüe and much to many to name. Grab a booth and wonder if Jimmy Page got blown in your booth. And if your at the outside bar maybe you’ll catch Lemmy place the game at the end of the counter. Have fun and grab a cab when you’ve drank way to much. Cheers Mario your the best!

What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said… It’s the Rainbow room, it should be a historical landmark given its history. My dad and I came in here while doing a little bar hopping in hopes of waiting out the traffic before driving back to San Diego. We’re simple folk, so we both ordered a burger with fries that were pretty good, it wasn’t epic, but it was worth my money. We spent the next hour chatting it up with the bartender who had been working here for over 10 years…10 effing years?! the owners must be doing something right. She was full of awesome stories and kept us entertained while we put back as many IPA’s as we could possibly drink before getting to the point of finding a hotel. Walking in to go to the bathroom felt like stepping back in time. Seeing all of the rock legends getting shit housed in the pictures on the wall almost caused me to forget why I even walked inside. Eventually I walked up the creeking stairs and found the restroom where I could here the ghost of Chris Farley railing lines off the toilet seat. Nostalgia set in and I pee’d with a grin on my face. I’ll be back.

Awesome rockin Thursday night. Watched LA Air Raid play upstairs ship wreck area. Neat below restaurant with an outdoor bar patio. $ 5 cover Thursday night but includes a drink. Super neat bar. Great vibes. So many different rooms and spots within the place. Outdoor patio, comfy lively restaurant with awesome booth seating, separate outdoor tiki looking bar, and upstairs band stage. Although the stair way sort of blocks the upstairs stage, feel like we’re mates drinking and cheering the bands on. Grand time here! Think its also one of Ron Jeremy’s spots.

Rainbow a legendary hangout for some of the most awesome bands to ever hit the Hollywood scene! Rainbow is pretty mellow kinda crazy and just downright awesome in it’s own way. The inside is kept super dark and kinda low key which definitely sets for an nice evening. When you enter the rainbow they will charge you a cover of $ 10 each and give you tickets that are redeemable for either food or drinks. They said that each voucher was worth $ 5 but we found that if you used them for drinks they would just give it to you regardless of the price difference so that will definitely help save you a few bucks! They have a very diverse menu that had everything from all kinda delicious sounding pastas to ribs, burgers & sandwiches. Everything was a pretty good size and definitely good for sharing with friends. We had a pretty big group and were seated right in the middle of the room it was kinda cool because we had a good size area in the middle where we could mingle with other friends at the neighboring table. Our service was fantastic our waitress was super nice and very knowledgable about everything at the rainbow! Out of everything here I decided to order the Italian Roast Beef sandwich as it just sounded bomb at the time and definitely was pretty good with a scrumptious flavor. This is a cool establishment it’s got a dance floor upstairs several bars and a trippy kinda labyrinth of stairs that lead to the dance floor and other mysterious areas. Who knows at what point we will be back here but last night was a great time with friends and a really cool time hanging out at a place rich in rock and roll history.
