I ordered some supplies from here. I wait a week for it to arrive. I call just to check in. They said what I ordered was discontinued, despite my ‘your order has been accepted’ email. I said it would have been nice to be notified since I needed these supplies. They said they called. I can screenshot my call log — No call. No voicemail message. I will be ordering supplies from corset website in the future.

These people are SO AWESOME.
Come for lessons, guidance, supplies (or online), and tailor made historical corsets.
I showed up looking for supply and maybe advice. The owners ended up giving me so much advice and guidance as well as a lot of their time.
I feel like I made a new friend!
They also know a lot of sewing teachers and good classes. A great place to support!

I love Richard the Thread. The staff and owner are super friendly. They do offer a mailing service but I got to meet the owner and her sons at a costuming event. They had everything I wanted for my corset, hat and hoop skirt. I stocked up on everything I might be using in the next little while. When I need something I will definitely order from them.

This shop is a treasured resource for corset-makers, film/tv wardrobe people and costume-makers of all kinds! I went there in search of some specialty materials for corset-making and was delighted to find not a dingy, filthy, garment-district warehouse… but instead a light-filled, clean, tidy shop that is easy to browse. They take bulk online orders, but go in person to get the precise quantities you need. They also allow customers to utilize their workroom, if materials were purchased there… a great benefit for students or anybody who lacks specialized tools! I will be returning again and again!

Daughter needed some supplies for her Corset project so we took a trip here after she found them on-line with better prices than she had seen anywhere else. There is street parking on La Cienega, the staff was super helpful and recommended some items for my daughter’s projects. Large selection of Corset making supplies at very reasonable prices that made my daughter very happy, coupled with the outstanding customer service I’m sure we will be back.
