If you enjoy Asian lager and/or hot sake, this place should definitely be on your happy hour bucket list. Being able to get two drinks for under $ 3.50 is a tough deal to beat. The presentation of the sushi is what hooked me first; all three rolls my party ordered had a unique and attractive arrangement on the plate. The spicy tuna was incredible. the had just the right amount of variety in one roll. The ceviche was such a creative twist I hadn’t seen before, and the mango salsa on top was very complimentary to the roll. Take advantage of the Groupon for this joint. Even though the rolls aren’t terribly expensive, doing so will help out this newly established restaurant. Also, the staff was incredibly attentive and pleasant. I’m definitely going back soon, but this time for the«all you can eat» option.

Don’t even know where to begin. I’m in LA for work and I had recently purchase this deck of cards called the deal deck. It gives a $ 10 off gift certificate to 57 restaurants in LA. I was in DTLA and saw this restaurant on there so I said WHYNOT??? Me and a coworker came here and we fell in love with everything. Service: Excellent, extremely helpful and well knowledge of the menu and recommendations were amazing. The food came out within 10 mins!!! Food: Fresh, tasty, BESTSUSHI I’ve ever had! Cost: Cheap!!! Got an appetizer, 2 drinks and 6 rolls, 8 pierces of nigiri and total was $ 42! Yup $ 42 and to make it better the deal deck card saved me an additional $ 10, couldn’t beat that. I was happy

We were so let down by this place. 1. No more AYCE 2. No sushi that night, only rolls 3. No salmon and some other fish Ambiance was not good. Location is practically hidden. We told the waitress we weren’t going to stay.

Complimentary miso soup and 50% off check for Unilocal check in?! Yes, please and thank you! Average to poor service, the older lady server didn’t seem to friendly(never smiled had a straight face the whole time), maybe because I mentioned the Unilocal deal. Average cleanliness, smelly bathrooms. Friendly, cheerful chefs though! For the food, it was really good, big portions for the price! Oh and food presentation was amazing, 5 starts for that! Ordered Spicy tuna fries: Must get! You have to try it, didn’t have high expectations but surprisingly it was really good after I had one bite Tempura: Not that great, dipping sauce was too sweet Spicy tuna: Average Green mussels: Must have! Most flavorful mussels I have had at a sushi restaurant Soft shell crab roll: Average, nothing special Tiger roll: Average, large portion though We also ordered Sapporo and Hot Sake, loved that the drinks were 50% off. Sucks they didn’t have any cocktails even though it was listed on the menu. In the end the bill came out to be $ 40 including tip and tax, not to shabby. Definitely would come back for the price when I’m in the area.

Laughable. Alright guys lets take this place seriously. Food is mediocre. Staff is unhelpful. Atmosphere is uncomfortable. Food: Had the AYCE Sushi All the items we ordered was below par. In fact, we ordered the shishito peppers… something we can buy at the market for 2 dollars a pound and on a Friday evening, they were sold out. *tsk tsk* As for their meat options; all were too sweet… like… enjoyably sweet. As for rolls, its either lower quality fish or ignored quality. Best example was their Lobster Roll… holy atlantis, there was absolutely no lobster in it. It was filled with imitation lobster flavored meat with one chopped up baby crawfish… gross. Staff: Poor drink service. Water was hardly filled unless demanded… then it was like warm water… yuck. Oh and i’ll take the time to point out here that we used our Unilocal Check In discount to get 50% off and were informed that they no longer offer that discount. *tsk tsk x2* Atmosphere: Oh. My. God. The music was so loud and it was sooooo warm in there… ANYONEWANTTOBEIGNORED, HAVEPOORQUALITYFOOD, ANDHOTWHILETHEYEATSUSHI? Not I, Not I

Oh Rolling Moon Sushi, I was hoping to shoot for the moon, but I definitely did not land among the stars. In short, poor and inconsistent service that could not be saved by some of the good dishes from dinner. FOODHIGHLIGHTS –SPICYTUNAFRIES: Really good appetizer, and is definitely one of their most popular orders. It has thick cut fries with a load of cheese, some onions/jalapenos and a sprinkle of spicy tuna. Could definitely have used more spicy tuna, but overall a very delicious concept! –Dynamite Roll– definitely a good deal. I’ve had better baked lobster, but a good bang for your buck with the heaping pile of lobster they give you. –Gyoza– perfectly crispy and they give you 6 hefty pieces –Otis Roll– my friend said this one was really good –ORDERSAKE and BEER individually so you can diy your own sake bombs! Makes a mess but also makes for a good time I came here with a group of friends an hour before closing based on the recommendation of our friend. With the promise of 50% off sushi, we were sold. Perhaps it was an off night, perhaps it was not. But service was not on point. In fact, it just got worse as the night progressed. –Waitress was rude and detached. She didn’t seem very engaged, and definitely was giving us attitude for no good reason. She was a complete opposite to the owner, who put on a smile and was pleasant in his demeanor. –As we were adjusting to the«fill it out yourself» menu, she seemed annoyed and said she would return when we were done. And then did not return. So we had the owner take our order as he walked by. –After our sake bombs, we had about 5 empty bottles of beer and glasses left on the table, which wasn’t taken away until we asked because the two last dishes needed space. That’s right, after a series of 6 – 7 rolls came out, the empty bottles still remained. –They gave my friend spicy tuna instead of the spicy salmon that he ordered. –As the majority of us were finishing up our rolls, one person in our table had not received her food yet. –The worse transaction involved everyone’s beloved avocado. We asked for(3x) avocado on our make-it-yourself roll. They put extra avocado on some rolls and not on some other rolls so we had to ask for it for at least two of our rolls. Afterward, they charged us for the extra avocado, even though it was a part of the make-it-yourself roll. –Towards the end of the night, the owner unexpectedly dropped off some sake on the house. He was probably aware of their poor service and our bad experience. It was a really nice gesture on his part… But even with the 50% off entire bill Unilocal deal and the free sake, our dinner could not be salvaged.

Came here with a group of friends after seeing the deal on Unilocal for a Thursday night dinner, and it was exactly as promised — decent quality food for a really good price! The place is really hard to find, as it’s tough to get inside the little mall for dinner after it’s closed, and still a little mazy once you get inside, so ask around or keep an eye out for the signs. We made a needless reservation; the restaurant was extremely spacious and we were one of only two parties there. The ordering process is a little confusing. You’re given a plastic menu and a highlighter, but I marked too many things and the waitress had to come back and clarify some of the orders. The other big decision was whether to go with the $ 25AYCE or the 50% Unilocal check-in deal. Since it closes at 9 and we didn’t get there til 7:30 and we also wanted drinks, we plumped for the 50% off. The food itself was kind of hit-or-miss. Since it was a cheaper place, we opted mainly for the rolls and appetizers instead of nigiri sushi. We each ordered 4 – 5 rolls and 2 – 3 appetizers. There was only one sushi chef making all this so despite it being pretty quiet, the food took a while to come; we just drank while we waited. The service was also slow(there was only one waitress — it was a weekday night after all) and made a few mistakes, so make sure you double check the bill so you don’t get charged for food that didn’t come, it’s easy to overlook if you’re in a big group. We tried more than half the things on the menu(almost all the rolls), so here’s a list of the good and bad. Try: –Spicy Tuna Fries: best item on the menu, we ordered another after the first was so good –Rainbow Roll: classic –Baked Green Mussels –Softshell Crab Roll –Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Don’t get: –Sashimi-rrito: dry and bland, not worth it –Make it yourself rolls: seems like a good idea but didn’t turn out well for our group(that’s probably why none of us are chefs) Everything else was just average. With 50% off, the rolls came out to about $ 5 each, and five dudes were able to eat their fill(and take home a couple of rolls too) for less than $ 30/person. This seems like a lot, but it’s because we ordered a BUTTLOAD of food(they had to add another table for us just to fit the food), and also included 12 beers and 6 large sakes. A good deal, and come here if you’re with a group and want to eat a lot of sushi at a very affordable price!

Came in last Friday night for dinner with my husband. Rolling Sushi is located inside the California Mart building on the west side and you enter through Jason’s liquor store. Place looks new and brightly furnished. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. They have AYCE here or you can build your own roll or order a bento box. We were hungry, but decided ordering off the regular menu at 50% Unilocal check in deal made more sense compared to AYCE. We both ordered bento boxes. I got the black cod with sashimi. They are all about the presentation, everything was beautifully sliced and arranged. The taste of the food is another story. The cod had a slimy skin, salad was underdressed, and rice overcooked. Sashimi was whatever. We also shared a baked lobster roll, I liked it pretty well, you can’t go wrong with spicy mayo. Mediocre food with a huge sale sign seems suspect to me!

Come here with a groupon deal. They also had a 50% off check in coupon through Unilocal! The waitress seemed a little inexperienced and had to run back and forth between the owner/manager and us to get questions answered. My BF and I ended up ordering: Viking roll: one of the day’s specials. The presentation was A+ it comes out in the shape of a little boat and fire. It was a little on the heavier side(which I wasn’t expecting) but so good. Dynamite roll: I love dynamite rolls and this one was great! Great portion size Spicy tuna fries: This was what I was most excited for and then was most disappointed by. They were really skimpy on the spicy tuna and it was mostly just tomato and nacho cheese. It was still delicious(who doesn’t love cheese and fries) but I was really hoping for big chunks of tuna. I will definitely be back(to take advantage of their 50% off check in deal). While there was a relatively large selection of different rolls, I found that there wasn’t much that used raw fish. Most rolls were california rolls or baked rolls. I wished that there was a roll with spicy tuna or something inside. I guess that’s what their build your own roll is for!

Parking garage is under the structure. Shark around the building until you find it(costs $ 7 at night and maybe like 15 in the day — carpool!). Validate your tickets at the place to reduce the price. To get there, take two rights once you exit the elevators. (+3) Wow, the presentation of the sushi amazing Everything I tried tasted great — even the vegan sushi My table raved the tuna fries and I went for the soft shelled crab(recommended) (+2) Place has a check in coupon for Unilocal users! Venue offers groupon deals often Validating parking tickets Chef is quick and didn’t take long to get our food The waiter Natt was legit; super friendly, professional and clearly on top of his game– thanks bro (-3) Our waitress truely ruined the moment; forgot multiple items Incredibly rude and refused to answer questions about the menu Clearly wanted to go home and I wouldn’t be surprised if our service was poor since she knew we would be charging us gratuity Bottom Line: Word is that the lunch specials is where it’s at, but for me, I don’t think I will be returning or recommending it to a friend due to service alone

I came here with a large group for my birthday. Definitely make a reservation if you have a group. With all the glowing reviews here, I thought I would for sure leave fat and happy. But unfortunately, we did not. FOOD: 5⁄5 The sushi rolls are great. They gave us a bunch of menus, and you just highlight what you want. I ordered the following(I shared most of this haha.!) Albacore onion roll: Slabs of raw tuna + with fried onions. I liked this combination. Soft shell crab roll: Comes with bits of soft shell crab. Very tasty. Baked lobster roll: California roll + crawfish + tomatoes + peppers + onions. Mmm. Took it home, and still tasted good the following day. CMC roll: tempura shrimp, crab, cucumber, salmon /tuna /avocado. This disappeared fast! Tuna fries: Crunchy fries drizzled with cheese + tuna + veggies = SOGOOD! Presentation was beautiful, and portions were adequate. I enjoyed everything I ate, and so did my friends. Ordered several beers, and sadly, they did not do sake bombs. :(:(Why!?! SERVICE: 1⁄5 Hmmm I’m not sure if it was just an off day? To sum it up, it was pretty bad. — Sushi chef yelling in front of my face: «I WANTTOGOHOME!» Well, I understand its a Friday night, but geez. Everyone has those thoughts, but DON’T say it to my face. Very unprofessional. –Waitress dropping my sushi platter, and still making us pay for it. –On the phone, I asked if some people can do AYCE, and some can just order rolls. They said it was fine as long as we don’t share. On that night, they said we couldn’t do that anymore. Well, that call was rather misleading… –Several orders never went through — ex) some people didn’t get miso soup, rolls, etc., –Overall, felt really rushed to leave in the end, and our waitress was generally not friendly and accommodating. The owner is pretty friendly though. This was the general consensus among our group. Although the service was definitely off, we did thoroughly enjoy our dinner. Ambiance was very cute and decorative(yay for heart pillows!), perfect for date nights. Located within a small shopping mall in the second floor I believe. They have several deals(Groupon /Check In 10% off /AYCE /BOGO drinks), but they cannot be combined. Parking is $ 3 in the underground lot if you get it validated. They close REALLY early(9pm), and their last call to order is 8:30pm… way too early if you ask me! I have yet to find a sushi restaurant in Socal that I really like… :(

My friend and I were at the California Mart building for the Unique LA show and wanted to grab a bite before descending into the craft rabbit hole. I guess they’re not usually open on weekends but they were asked to open by the show people. As such, my friend and I were the only ones in here for the entire duration of the meal – I hope they got more visitors as the day wore on. The review is more like 3.5 but I’m rounding up. The place was cute, decorated in that kind of clean and modern Pinkberry style, which I guess was unsurprising since it was owned by young Koreans, lol. They kind of had an interesting gimmick for this place too: you can«make» your own rolls with the choices presented on the menu. Like, you pick a certain type of roll, then pick something to go on top of it, etc. They gave us highlighters with the menu. At first we were thinking of creating a roll, but then it was a chilly blustery day so we both opted for the tempura udon and I also got an order of the yellowtail with ponzu and jalapeño. When the food came out we were pretty impressed with the portions. The udon was a generous-sized bowl and they gave us a heaping pile o’ tempura. The yellowtail came to us on one of those long rectangular plates and looked pretty good, but I was bemused by lack of the jalapeño. When I asked the waiter, he came back with a little plastic cup of sliced jalapenos… Um… shouldn’t the slices be on TOP of the fish? Oh well, that’s what I was used to seeing but maybe not these guys. I just put the slices on the fish myself and it was fine, but it was a little odd; it’s not like it’s such an exotic dish. Quality of the fish was just ok, pretty typical of what you’d get for a middle-of-the-road sushi joint. Overall a good experience, though – decent food and prices and nice service. if I ever find myself in the building again and needed lunch I wouldn’t be averse to going back.

Unilocal, you really lead me astray on this one. A four-star average this restaurant is not. Not even when the amazing 50% off Unilocal deal. Yes it’s cheap, but it’s just not worth it. First, you need a treasure map to find this place. Hidden in a nook of the indecipherable Market. Second the food quality was completely sub-par. Fresh fish is vital when it comes to sushi and this place didn’t have it. Finally, the service was fine, but not what you’d expect for the price. Overall, a big disappointment.

I’m decent about this place. Its a good place to eat if you don’t want the other food on the other side of the California Market Center. But this place is located on the LEFT side of the building if you’re coming in from the front. But anyways, this place gives me mehh mixed reviews. I’ve only been here twice and I liked my first time, but my second time was so-so. The first thing that I liked about this place, the chefs are always nice, the server is definitely cute, and the menu is not that hard to read. I built my own sushi but I really can’t remember what I put on it, but it was delicious and pretty inexpensive. You have your base with is mainly 3 – 5 dollars, then you have your toppings or whatever which are the seafood which cost at least 1 – 3 dollars each and you have toppings which is free for most but extra if you wanna add more, and the sauce is also free. But whatever I got, it was delicious, it felt fresh and delectable as well! The miso soup was the go to spot after having a big meal. The second time around, I got myself the Sushi-ritto… Not a good idea. it was my first time trying a sushi burrito! Sounds fun and delicious… not really. The burrito had nothing but RICE in it. I know it sounds weird but when I say I can taste nothing but the rice, I could taste only the rice. It had everything else but the rice just over powers it. I just wish it had a thin layer of rice, I was full off of two bites into the burrito! I wasn’t even able to finish the whole thing! I felt so sad… But it was still good, if it didn’t have the thick layer of rice. Maybe thin… Anyways, you just have to try it to believe it! 4 Stars for delicious DIY sushi and cute waiter :3 Have Fun and Good Luck!

It’s INSIDE the building, go through the liquor store! Yes it’s a good deal, but everything kind of tasted the same to me. They seem quite unorganized here, as if the waiters don’t really know what’s going on too much. Even though we didn’t take leftovers, they let us take have to go boxes for our ayce menu. not sure if they made a mistake or this is the policy? I deffff recommend the Unilocal check in 50% off deal. Because unlike other ayce places I’ve been too, this place has large portions for each of their rolls. You really can’t try too much if you order ayce AND you end up spending more than you would if you just got 50% off. And you can’t try the fancy stuff like uni. It really is a good deal though because they have a big portions here, I love how HUGE their seaweed salad is lol. Most of the time at restaurant, they give so little I treat my seaweed salad as if it’s made of gold. This place you can eat it like a bowl of noodles bc you get so much. There are also teriyaki chicken and udon noodle soup on the ayce menu. But beware because the portions are huge like I said. While the deals are good, I feel like they just do a imitation crab roll/california roll on the bottom of most of their rolls and change up the fish up top. It starts to taste the same to me after awhile. I’d go back for sushi on the cheap though and not the ayce again. Want to try their sashimi more, without all the rice and rolls, it should be an excellent deal with the 50% off!

If you want quantity then Rolling Moon Sushi is your place. We came wanting to try their AYCE sushi but I guess the friday night we went they no longer had it. It was crossed off their menu in black. The next best thing was to get 50% off your entire bill when you check in on Unilocal during 5−9pm M-F. This is a real sweet deal for the amount of food you get. We ordered the spicy tuna albacore, dynamite, tempura spicy tuna, and spicy tuna FRIES. My favorite roll was the spicy tuna albacore. It tasted good but definitely not so fresh fish. The dynamite was heavily riced, heavily mayoed, heavily topped with not seafood. The seafood such as scallops and tiny pieces of «lobster» were very chewy and tasted fishy, over baked. Tempura spicy tuna was also heavily riced and way too heavy because of the«tempura» feature. I think they straight up just deep fried it meaning the fish was cooked inside. I thought it had tempura inside the roll not deep fried. We tried something different which was the spicy tuna fries… probably a knock off of what would be carne asada fries. Fries were good. Spicy tuna was in plentiful amounts. The cheese was watery from their house salsa therefore… the fries at the bottom were very soggy. Interesting dish. Overall, don’t come here for quality because we didn’t get good quality. Come if you want cheap food. Our bill was $ 22 something for all those dishes. Not bad right? –Give it a try! p. s. Park underground so you don’t have to look for parking. They validate. Will still cost you $ 3. If you can’t find Rolling Moon ask the front desk.

This place was kind of tricky to find, but it was quite easy at the same time! It’s not in the neighborhood which is a downside because I love eating sushi at night! But I really like this place. Their 50% off Unilocal deal should never be taken away. It’s just so affordable at the price especially for someone who lives off not a lot. They are fairly quick on making the yummy rolls which is a plus! But I do feel quite annoying always using my coupon! I feel so cheap. Hahaha, but I can’t just pass up the deal! Go here while the deal is going on! Also free street parking after 6! But make sure you’re with someone because it’s not very safe!

Spicy Tuna Fries — I was EXTREMELY excited to try this dish! Most sushi restaurants don’t serve fries so it was a mustt to order this item. It wasn’t as spicy as I hoped and the fries were a bit soggy from all the ingredients but I’ll give it a satisfactory grade. Fries will almost always taste good to me. Crush Roll– I favor! Very tasteful and I love crunchy sushi! Jalapeño Roll(?) — This is a MUST for my bf and to try at ANY sushi restaurant. He was happy with the outcome but the peppers itself was a bit too small for me :/ A random roll with avocado and salmon — This roll was ehhhh. Not tasty enough for me to remember the name(as you can see) heehee Pina Colada — Very tasty! I highly recommend this or their strawberry one! There’s also buy one get on free beer too! P. S. parking is horrible. Go after 6pm!

Leftover never tasted this good!!! Found a Groupon deal for $ 15 for $ 30, since I’ve been craving sushi, my bf and I went to check this place out. At first we were confused as to where this place is located. It is located inside the California Mart Center so don’t be discouraged by the shadiness of the outside plaza. Park inside the CMC and they will validate your parking for 2 hours for free(i didn’t find this out until we got inside, so we ended up parking on the street meters since it was free after 6pm anyway). Overall experience was A++! The waiter was so nice and friendly, he filled our waters and removed our empty plates in a timely manner. The restaurant was clean, vibrant, and colorful unlike your normal sushi places but I’m not complaining. The food was as vibrant and colorful as the place. And it tasted just as good as it looked! We ordered three of their signature rolls: 1. Ceviche — california roll topped with assorted fish, tomato salsa, avocado and ceviche ponzu. Maybe it was the Asian in us, but my bf and I kept talking about how we can eat that ceviche over rice and it would be so bomb! 2. Green Train — Tempura shrimp, spicy crab, cucumber topped with avocado, eel sauce and siracha. There was nothing special about this roll aside from presentation. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious but nothing new. 3. C.M.C — Tempura Shrimp, crab, cucumber topped with salmon, tuna, avocado, and mustard soy. This was probably my favorite. The salmon and tuna on top was so fresh and I don’t know what kinda of sauce they put at the bottom, but whatever it was so good. My bf and I couldn’t finish everything so we packed up our leftovers. Leftovers from sushi places NEVER tastes the same NOR it ever taste good. But because we did not want to be wasteful, we took our leftovers home and ate it the next night. Everything, I repeat EVERYTHING tasted the same(except the rice being hard and all but that’s inevitable). OMG it was still bomb. I’m so excited to go back to this place so I decided to to buy another Groupon. They also have happy hour from 3 – 9 by one sake/beer and the next one is a penny and all you can eat from 5 – 9 but unfortunately Groupon does not apply to either specials. Definitely a hidden gem. 5 star experience!
