If you love mexican food and margaritas this is the place to be! The service is pleasant and the food portions are very adequate.

I had a good time at Sabor, but it was only because of the party and the people I was with. As a venue, it’s pretty much a failure. The first bad vibe I got was when the valet asked me for $ 10, when the Facebook invite I had gotten clearly said it would be $ 5. When I argued, he let me pay only $ 5, and later it became clear when my friend said«He probably tried to overcharge you because you’re white.» The bad service continued inside with the poorly stocked bar. When I ordered a gin and tonic, they told me they were out of gin. My friend had to go through about 4 brands of beer before she found one that they actually had. When I finally ordered a drink they had, it was a little on the steep side at $ 8, but at least it was fairly strong. The outdoor patio was a nice escape from the heat inside, but they made sure you wouldn’t be escaping too far by surrounding the area with razor wire. I don’t think I’ll ever be going back to Sabor, and I wouldn’t recommend planning your event there.

Great place. Been here twice and it was completely two different scenes. First time, a friend was playing in a band(PACHAMAMA! look for them too). Cool patio outside and they sometimes have a tent over it so you can have a smoke and grab a drink. Socialize. Great place with great shwos. Second time, more after hours kinda thing. I ain’t hatin on this place, but not being in the scene(or knowing how to dance for that matter) kinda prevented me from actually doing anything. Cool music, beautiful girls, but felt more like I had to be part of that scene to get any play. Ah well, win some lose some. You’re bound to catch a cool show and have a good time at this place. Enjoy!

Came here for lunch on a weekday. For food right now… they serve breakfast 8am-noon, and lunch noon-6pm, but if it’s slow you can ask to order from either menu. Happy hour 3 – 6($ 2 domestic, $ 3 imported, $ 5 coctails). After 6, it’s just a bar/lounge, but Felix(one of the owners) said they’re working on their bar food menu. I was actually the only customer in this place which is ok, but I thought it was a little too slow. I talked with Felix about it… oh, this place just opened a week and a half ago, so it is a new player in the game. I was in the area and came in around noon… was going to eat pollo Camparo, but wasn’t really feeling chicken. This place looks like a dive from the outside, but once you get in… the fresh red paint around the room, the old exposed brick, the cement floors, the black cloth covered tables, the ambient lighting… it’s nice. I like the old latin style feel, plus all the staff was very friendly. I had the carne asada quesadilla with wahaca cheese. It comes with guac. THere was also salsa and chips which were really nice to have. A little watery, but the green salsa was really good. A friend went today for lunch and got the same thing to go, but the food had some spice, was missing the guac, and the carne asada was undercooked. The difference is pretty huge, but this is a very new place with plans to establish it’s menu so plan on sitting down and taking an hour to eat here. Also, when i asked for water, they gave me cold bottled water and poured it in a glass. I thought that there was a miscommunication, but there was no charge. The staff seem like they are family and friends and again, the place is empty during the day so there is no wait at all. The main problem with this place is parking… if you get validated at La Curaçao, they give 4 hour free parking with validation in the back outdoor lot, so if you plan on going there, it’s really easy to stop by this place for breakfast/lunch since it’s right accross the street. Note: Cash only… but I did see a sign saying they accept CC with $ 20 min.

I was in a band that performed at Sabor Lounge two or three times, so Im quite familiar with the place. I think the place is ok overall. The Cons– 1)Bad Neighborhood 2)Sometimes the crowd that frequents this place is really juvenile 3)Their sound system is terrible The Pros– 1)Reasonably priced drinks 2)Friendly staff 3)Dark and ominous ;-) 4)Live music(on the weekends) Its an ok place but it IS in the ghetto so you may wanna weigh your options. Funny story– We had a performance scheduled for a Saturday night and we went on that previous Monday or Tuesday to put up flyers for the show. Well, the security guy at the door wouldnt let us in for some reason. He was friendly but kept saying he couldnt let us in unless we paid 10 bucks! We asked what was going on and he hinted that a «different» kind of event was going on that night. We gathered it had to do with nude ladies. lol So you kinda are rolling the dice when you go here. You might be going for the music but you might end up with a lady named«Bubbles» sitting on your lap haha!

Sabor is a trip. A girlfriend and I went on an exploratory art mission tonight after cooking at her house in Highland Park. I’ll Unilocal the other two tomorrow, if I can figure out their names. One gallery was decent, the next just plain strange, and then, there was this … bar? Club? Gallery space? Identity-less mishmash of a red-walled teenage hangout? The art was, as my friend said, juvenile, and so was the crowd. It’s in a really bad part of downtown, and there were two security guards outside and a bouncer to regulate a crowd of 25 people or so. The DJ didn’t seem to realize that a LARGE centrally-located speaker cut in and out randomly(wiring problems), totally out of synch of the icky music he was playing. The reason I give two stars versus just one is that the bartender was kind of nice, kind of hot, and desperate for a challenge. My $ 5 Corona bored him, but Sabor bored me. We left after perusing the crappy art and drinking our singular blah drink.

On the recommendation of a co-worker, I came here with a friend for a quick drink. After paying a $ 10 cover charge you enter a dark, small club/bar. What a surprise. It’s strip joint night! All Latin crowd. The strippers are the likes of little petite daddy’s girls to the… rotund. No drink minimum. Beer = $ 5. $ 1 lap dances to start! No stage. The dozen girlies make rounds to the various chairs and sofas. Total ghetto. But, I love it! The two previous reviewers grew up with silver spoons. Be not afraid of downtown. You only venture east when a traffic ticket needs attending to, or the boss gave you Lakers tix. Why would you cocoon yourself from the beach to LaBrea? Well, come a little further. They have free parking. Don’t be a douche. Be like Morgan Freeman in Shawshank. Journey to Zihuatanejo…

First time at Sabor, and first time at Foundation, the good set of deep house was spun by Big Cee that night. Friendly staff and people, lots of really good dancers that absolutely tore that place up! free to get in, cheap drinks, location is only slighty shady, nothing to worry about really.

OK, I read Diana’s review and see that she liked it. In fairness, I never even gave it a chance. Neighborhood is very very SCARY. I went there for a meetup happy hour. It was early and nobody was really there yet. We walked in, took one look and walked out. It smelled very funky and the floor was all ripped up, and well, yikes. I’m sure they do have good bands, cheap drinks, and friendly staff but EEEEWWWWWWWW! If you plan to go, do it later when it’s dark inside and bring some big guys with you and an attack dog or something.

This bar & lounge was a great Wednesday night find for DEEPHOUSE music the night is called FOUNDATION. A great alternative to Therapy @Tokio. I heard about it through a friend. Though the area seems a little unsafe, i didnt feel threatented one bit, plenty of street parking, the outside was brightly lit. It was really empty when we arrived but the soundsystem was BANGIN’, great sound, WOOD dance floor with plenty of room to shake your ass. It was dark in there, but the drinks were really cheap, $ 4 well drinks, $ 3 beers, the staff was really friendly. They even bought us drinks. I also had a full can of Rockstar, it only cost me $ 3. No cover, 10−2am, 21+. There was nothing but pluses at this place, i know also on other nights they have reggaeton, rockin espanol, and hiphop. I really hope wednesday nights at this place blows up. If you love deep house music go there Foundation @Sabor.
