John makes hair healthy and gorgeous!!! After recently moving back to the Los Angeles area I was concerned about finding a stylist who could do my hair. I had heard good things about Salon On Main and thought I would give it a try. I arrived early. The location is great and parking was convienent. When I walked in, I was greeted with politeness and a smile. I was offered a beverage while I waited. John was my stylist. He actually took the time to ask me questions about my hair and what I wanted done. He assumed nothing. He was so sweet and polite. I was immediately relieved and felt comfortable. John, my stylist was very informative and knowledgable of my particular hair type and how to care for it. We talked about chemicals and damage. I could tell he loved his job and cares. He washed, conditioned and styled my hair. It looks so good! I absolutely love it! My hair feels so soft. I liked the fact he didn’t push the hair products in the salon that were for sale, however I did ask. I had never heard of some of the brands and was curious. I cant say enough good things about John! I feel my hair looks and feels great! John is my hair Guru and I will definitely be back!!! THANK YOU.

I’ve worked in the DTLA for years, and having such a busy schedule has me trying to find ways to get everything I need done while I’m doing everything else. Luckily, Salon On Main has been able to take care of my hair. I’ve seen John, Veronica and Amanda on numerous occasions for trims, haircare advice, and just to say hello! They have been so great at accommodating me whether it was first thing before I got to work, or in between running around from point a to b.
More recently, I’ve been seeing Amanda more. She’s done a great job at trims and explaining her thoughts on what she thinks is best for me, while keeping in mind what my ideas are. I also have thick hair with random cowlicks that doesn’t make for an easy cut, but I’ve been extremely happy with her work.
They carry Davines, which is a line I’ve been using for years. These are the best shampoos/​conditioners/​colorings and I always get compliments on how healthy and natural my hair looks. I’ll be going to see everyone there soon and I hope you’ll give them a try also. CHEERS !

I was in LA on NYE for a wedding and wanted a makeover for the night. I booked with Javier and he did the most amazing job! I asked for dramatic eyes and he did exactly that. He was so friendly, personable and attentive. He always made sure I was happy with how everything was going. It was an easy comfortable, experience with a great outcome. If you ever need your makeup done ask for Javier, he is simply the best!!!

I wanted to take a second to just say what an amazing experience I had on my first visit to this salon on main I was greeted with nothing but smiles and good vibes especially the amazing young women that did my hair I believe her name was amanda gomez I happend to catch her whole name she did and outstanding job on my hair her attitude was off the charts and full of excellence attend to all my needs and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it don’t to the last stran of hair I called her a hair goddess she deserves a medal iam definitely going to keep going back to her and iam tell all my friends to

John wasted no time crushing my hair dreams. The first thing he said to me after he placed me into his seat was «Eww».
His negative energy quickly made my defenses go up. He talked sh*# about «whoever did my hair last», and then made me feel like I couldn’t make up my mind about what I wanted, and that was extremely frustrating. He was like a super hair villain ninja! He also argued with me about what was used on my hair last. I gave him the formula and he said I was wrong. I helped formulate and mix my colour so I would know what was on my hair. He kept arguing about it so I just agreed with him in hopes that we would have some peace between us. But that didn’t work either. It was clear that he did not want to do my hair; he should have been professional and up front about it, but instead he was extremely condescending and cunty to say the least.
The best part was when he implied that I couldn’t afford his services.
After that I spent what was suppose to be his 300 dollars on a shopping spree and went to the mall for a cut and color. Everything is alright now :) Sometimes obstacles are thrown our direction to avoid a big disaster. Perhaps the Spirits were looking out for me.

Best salon in DTLA by far! Very professional, hip and cool, yet at the same time down-​to-​earth and super friendly. John, Veronica and the whole staff will take care of you — you will feel cared-​for while getting amazing service. Stylist Veronica will listen to your wants/​needs, and she’ll also give you great recommendations based on her vast knowledge and mad-​skills. I get so many compliments on my hair since I started going to Veronica at Salon on Main. Prices are reasonable, especially compared to other overpriced DTLA salons. Bonus — salon carries products supporting both DTLA and the environment — great all around place. Highly recommend!

Just got a blow out here and they did an absolute horrible job. I never write Unilocal reviews, but am so furious. Do not go here, ever. They spent two hours on my hair and the end result was garbage.

I’ve been going here for a few years now. Friendly people in a calm environment with good music and French press coffee. All the stylists are good but Veronica is my favorite. She groks my hair and I don’t have to worry if it’s cut right. Go there!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this salon!!! So modern inside and they offer you delicious french press coffee. My hair stylist is Veronica and she is amazing! She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, and not afraid to take risks with color. She’s listens to what I want and she’s fabulous!!! I will always stick with her. I would definitely recommend this salon to everyone I know.

This is a wonderful salon, Veronica, Kimberly and Reba are great and you tell immediately by their customers that this is both a cool and excellent value. The place has a fabulous vibe and you’ll be well taken care of. They are experts at coloring and cutting hair, pedicure. manicure and even with tea and coffee.

Reba is a treasure. I only get my brows waxed here and she is the best. It’s a super chill environment and very convenient. I appreciate the online booking option as well.

Stephanie has been my stylist for the last five years and is absolutely the best!
She is very talented and has taken me from a brunette to auburn to blonde and even shades of purple! Over the last five years I have also had long hair and very short hair. She truly is an artist with every shade and cut. She does it all and each time it is absolutely perfect. Stephanie is always very professional and thorough and analyzes the best method to give you the color and cut that you want. I always walk out of the salon in awe.
In addition to being very talented, Stephanie is such a warm person to be around. She makes the whole process fun and I always enjoy getting to spend time with her in the salon while she works her magic. Stephanie also makes it very easy to schedule appointments and has a very accommodating schedule.
I highly recommend Stephanie as your stylist. You won’t be disappointed!

I just had one of the best haircuts of my life, I had the pleasure of having Veronica cut my hair and couldn’t be more thrilled with my experience. She takes pride in her craft and is a true artist, attention to detail was another one of her strengths. Do yourself a favor and go here for your next cut, style and or nails!

Been trying to set up an appointment since christmas, but with the holidays I noticed that salons are packed until after New Years. I was at the cal market on Olympic and main and decided it was time to cut my insane head full of hair. I looked up salons on Unilocal and this salon came up as one of the top searches. I called the salon and asked what the soonest time I could get and they told me 4:30. Perfect!
Unfortunately my car engine died before leaving so I ended up having to walk. The walk over surprisingly was short and I enjoyed looking at the hustle and bustle on the streets. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted and it wasn’t busy and the interior has this industrial kind of vibe, with artsy paintings on the wall.
My hair stylist was Naki, who was very sweet and honest when I asked her what to do with this mess on my head. She was fun to talk to and it was nice meeting another Japanese native who understands Asian hair.
They’re also open on Sunday’s which mosts salons aren’t.
Definitely coming back and recommending my friends to come here. Service is great, and the location is convenient if you’re in the DTLA area.

I had heard of the Salon on Main before but never been there until today… By far, the best experience I’ve ever had in a salon. It was Veronica Briggs that took care of me and my god, she massaged me as she washed my hair in a way that left me in total Nirvana.
–And honestly, never been this happy about a haircut in my life!

It is very nice salon, i did facial and i like my face. They use very good product to my face it is amazing also, the salon is very clean and the staff is perfect. She is smailing all the time really, i recommend for this salon

Brendan is awesome! I was in the neighborhood and wanted a blowout. I have curly coarse hair. He did a wonderful wash it was so relaxing and my blowout was beautiful. He took his time and my hair was so smooth and had body and shined!
Brendan is so nice and made the experience so fun.
I will be back!

I was recommended to this salon by a coworker and I can honestly say that I am glad I gave them a shot. You are able to find parking in the structures for about $ 8 or if you’re lucky, you can find street parking. The décor is very relaxing and earthy, and they have candles with a welcoming scent that matches very well with the décor. You’re greeted by friendly people, and they offer you drinks (there is even a little candy bowl in the waiting area).
On my first visit, Brendan took care of me. Haha, I love him! He’s funny and attentive. You don’t have to worry when you’re here. Everyone is well-​trained, experienced, and basically know what they are doing. Sometimes, what you want isn’t ideal for your hair, and they will tell you their honest opinion. They not only want to take care of your hair, they want you to look good. Meaning, for your hair to compliment your face and skin tone. I came in wanting to bleach my hair just because I was so used to light colored hair. However, I left with short hair, and a dark violet hair color with partial highlights. My hair was up to my waist and I chopped it all off until it reached my collar bone.
My poor stylist stayed over 2 hours over closing time to tend to my hair. I felt so bad, but he didn’t mind at all. I was pleased with the results and my hair felt wonderfully soft and smelled great. The next morning, I got a text from them asking me to come in because they were not 100% happy with the vibrancy of the color. So, they wanted to touch up the color for free. That’s proof that it’s not all just about making money, they actually stand behind their work. As for the pricing, it’s reasonable. They do offer discounts (e.g student discounts) and stuff.
All in all, my experience with this salon is great. I had really bad experiences with previous salons but this definitely made it on my top list. Not to mention, each haircut comes with the BEST freaking scalp and neck massage EVER. If you’re always stressed out like me, their massages will make you want to melt into the chair. I had a near death experience with the hard helmet
steamer on wheels. Sucks because I adored the stylist
that I have gone to for a while however the steamer on
wheels fell on my head. At least I went to the hospital
in style with a fresh colored look. I still had to pay after
my slight concussion however I was not feeling well
enough to argue the situation. Again sucks because
she was such a great gal, stylist and such. Never will
I go back.

I visited Salon on Main yesterday evening and I had to make sure to write a review because the experience was so great!
My stylist was Stephanie, and she was fabulous. Total color guru. Ok, back story on my hair. Had a very patchy and brassy color job done on my hair when going from a brunette ombré to blonde. I get there’s supposed to be stages to save your hair, but it was bad. Anyways– Stephanie consulted on what would look best w my skin and what would really help fix my hair bc at this point it is pretty damaged as well.
She created her color after our consultation and it turned out amazing! Looks so much healthier and smooth and the colors gorgeous. Oh and she’s also a great stylist as well as color… Blow drying queen over here. To wrap it up, I will be back and I definitely recommend this place! Cool setting, loved the art, great talent. Thank you!
