I’ve been calling there for months to find out who books their comedy shows. At one point, I even talked to a guy who claimed he was«Sal» and told me to email him. Today, I was told they just rent out the room… there is more than one booker… and nobody has any idea how to get a hold of any of them! Now I’m not even sure if I’ve been writing to the right email. I’m sure the food is good, but I can’t speak from personal experience.

I’ve been coming to this place for over 2 years. It was the first place I came to in LA when I moved here. It has definitely changed over time for the better but the menu and the prices of food stay the same and Sal has continue to provide great service and amazing food at an affordable price. Sundays are always packed I remember going there back in the day and blue jam Café would always be packed and Sals would be a little slow but now both restaurants are neck and neck as far as big crowds The staff is amazing from Bobby Billy Tanisha on down everyone provides and a great experience for all customers new or old you will be treated like family no matter what. The bottom the sangria & mimosas are by far what I would come by for every week if I was able to. Definitely had some great times with great friends and met amazing people there at the same time. that’s when you know you’re in the right type of place it’s the perfect setting for meeting good people and having a great time

Visiting LA and had never heard of this place until I purchased their groupon online for their stand up comedy on Mondays. It was awesome! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by two very friendly people who took us right to the back where the show was happening. One of them was a comedian and even took a photo with us before the show even started. The back room was a small space but had the atmosphere needed for a good show. We had purchased VIP seating and got to sit on some very comfy leather couches. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza to share and it was SOSOGOOD. There were quite a few comedians that performed, all with their different styles and we loved them all. It was very intimate as there were very few people there aside from ourselves and it felt like they were telling the jokes directly to us. After the show everyone was so friendly and we talked to a few of the comedians. If we didn’t have plans after, I would have loved to stay and chat longer. We will be moving to LA soon and CANNOTWAIT to go back. This place is 10⁄10 for food and atmosphere. We loved it! Also I read that people have a hard time finding parking… Welcome to a big city lol. I’m not from the area but every big city has areas where you have to park blocks away or find a small lot. We parked at a little $ 8 lot down the street next to a comic book store. It was a 5 minute walk and when we left we saw Alicia Silverstone and her little family getting into their car… Sometimes you just gotta relax and enjoy the adventure.

This is one of the best restaurants in LA. The food is amazing and there is a huge variety on the menu. In the back of the restaurant they have a giant 150 seat comedy club. Most nights are open mics, but the weekends and Monday’s they have professional shows. I read some of the reviews below and have to say I disagree with the negative comments. Someone complained about parking. It’s Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles you’re going to have that problem anywhere on that street. As for the negative comment to the Irish Comedian, I doubt that that came from anyone from the restaurant. I’m sure that that came from some idiot running an open mic. Give this place a shot. I promise it has the best pizza in Los Angeles. That’s a fact and I’m a foodie. I run comedy on Monday nights there and can promise you that some of the biggest names in comedy perform there on that night.

Cool place! Hilarious headliner, The Greg Wilson, puts on good classes there & great comedy shows(no cover, no 2 item minimum, good comics that he has personally coached). The wait staff is friendly, the food & drinks are good. They have a few big screen TVs. FYI — Order & pay for your food & drinks at the front restaurant /bar area. You can bring it back to the comedy room, or have it brought to you. If you wait to order, in the back comedy area, you might be waiting a long time. There are 2 bathrooms, which is convenient(some places only have 1). The comedy room is large & they have chairs, tables, and couches — very relaxed, casual atmosphere. The only drawback is the crappy parking(not the restaurant’s fault). It might take 15 or 20 minutes to find parking on Melrose(no paid meter after 8 pm) & side streets. You may also be 3 or 4 blocks away, so allow for walking time. Once you get there, you’ll have a great time!

Gosh, I went there to support a friend during her stand up act. Let’s start with LACK of PARKING, and the fact that you will be parking your car far away blocks and blocks down in a residential area. The sound system sounded distorted and blown out through the speakers. They had a lot of comics(at 4 minutes a piece), which started at least 30 – 35 minutes LATER than it was supposed to. There was a woman talking so loudly on the phone in the audience that she eventually had to be pulled out and thrown out! It takes FOREVER to hunt down WAITSTAFF and get their attention, JUST for a MENU, never mind trying to flag her down again to ORDER! When the order came, I wasn’t even given NAPKINS! She just dropped it off and left. Oh, and you will NOT find a sign on the outside indicating that this is the place of laughs, you will drive around Melrose seeking but never finding. It is some sort of clandestine operation, way in the back… and then to the right… and then to the left!

I have never been to this place, but I am a comedian and I know a fellow comic who queried about booking some time at this room during a trip he was making to L.A. And this was what he received back: «No…but you are welcome to do our open mic. I personally think Irish fags from Boston can eat a dick… so good luck getting anyone to give a fuck drunko.»

Lets start off with the important part. Cockroaches cockroaches cockroaches. They are running around the restaurant so the kitchen has to be full of them. Some of these reviews are from comics that attend this place. The comedy area is junky and service is horrible. I ordered a single slice they brought me a whole pizza and insisted i buy it. This exact same thing happened to another friend of mine a month later. Sketchy place.

I discovered this place after a graveyard shift. i came in at 8am and was served by Lauren. I spent my fourth of July here during the day, and I go back for their cheap«all champagne» bottomless mimosas. $ 12 bucks, and trust me, the do not let you see the bottom of the glass. I’ve had breakfast and lunch here, and I can honestly say I’ve loved everything I’ve tried on their menu. We are regulars now and I definetly reccomend this to anyone in Los Angeles. The last time we were there, my roomate and I were having a grand old time and the girl next to us were botherd and asked us to move. We happily moved for her and Lauren the wonderful waitress brought us a complimentary Nutells crêpe which was the shit. Also, best bruchetta I have ever had in my life. Will keep going there for days…

Went to Blu Jam across the street, and found they had a wait time of 35 – 40 minutes for two people. No thanks! Came over to Sal’s, waited 5 minutes on a Sunday at noon and had the best Lobster Benedict of my life. Forget comedy, I’m coming back for the brunch!

I love that this place is a home for new comedians to build their skills in stand-up. I mean, there’s nothing more intimidating than taking that stage and Sal’s provides an atmosphere and outlet for new, terrified talent to get good and confident. It’s not the fanciest place I’ve been to in LA with regard to comedy however I understand they recently did a great remodel and the pictures look very impressive. Also, they have a great menu with really reasonable price and huge portions. The wait staff has been consistently friendly and prompt and they do a great job of not being a distraction during the show. This place is fun, in a cool part of town on Melrose and very welcoming. Two thumbs up for Sal’s!

First time at a Comedy Club. I bought tickets for my friend and I from this random guy at the Hollywood and Highlands plaza… it seemed sketch. He told me to call the number and I decided to give it a try. It was $ 15 for two tickets which wasn’t bad at all. Later that night, when my friend and I showed up, we were confused as to where the place actually was. If you drive around on Melrose, you will DEFINITELY miss it. The place has a one door entrance with barely any signs. I was scared walking into the venue since you walk through this black-light lit hallway… into a room. After we were seated, we saw that there was a good number of attendees so that eased our nervousness. The price for drinks was fairly cheap $ 5 for wine/beer. The performers were funny and I really enjoyed my night there!

This is a true comedian’s dream. A very chill place with a great stage and room for you to share your craft. Sal is a genuine guy and knows what he’s doing. No drink minimum either. Beer and wine is reasonably priced. -

NEWCLUB: Great time at Sal’s: Not your typical hole! I’ve had the pleasure of attending shows and performing at Sal’s Comedy Hole in Hollywood recently. Unlike some comedy clubs, where you may feel you are herded into cafeteria style seats, given a number, and hounded for a 2 drink minimum, at the Hole you can sit back, relax and laugh. This unique space is filled with comfy couches, funky tables and chairs, and a very cool vibe. A taste of NYC right in Hollywood, stand-up comedians in a comfortable atmosphere with a hip intelligent crowd feel free to let ‘er rip, hitting on poignant material that is sharp and edgy. There is no «I’m an actor doing comedy to get a movie deal,» no «Asians are bad drivers» and«Armenians live in Glendale» jokes, no «No industry, no need to perform» attitudes. At Sal’s it’s real comedians and real funny.
