DISCLAIMER: This review is on his business practices and professionalism, not his actual mixology service… because WEDIDN’T GETTHECHANCETOEXPERIENCETHEM. He left my wife and I scrambling for another bartender by pulling out just TWODAYS prior to our event without citing any explanation. Event planning is stressful enough and when you are trying to organize twenty different things, having a vendor pull out last minute can wreak havoc. Steve responded to our THUMBTACK request seeking a bartender for an intimate 4 hour cocktail party — we accepted his response and his agreed on his rate. After an amicable and ongoing dialogue with him to discuss and plan the event, he recommended several specialty cocktails. Based on his recommendations we purchased all of the spirits and supplies needed. Then just two days before the event, in response to a message I sent him letting him know that I would pre-chill all beverages, pickup ice on my way to the event, and print a little list of the cocktails being offered, he messages me back inquiring what time guests will be arriving. When I replied, he immediately responded stating that it would take him an hour to setup and an hour to break down which is a total of six hours as opposed to four. It is my understanding that one would factor setup and breakdown time into their services prior to submitting a price quote for a 4 hour event. In any case, I offered him a slightly higher rate than initially agreed upon(which was actually higher than most other price quotes I received — however he does have his own bar which was a selling point for us) and offered that he could also begin his breakdown 30 minutes prior to the scheduled end time of the event, but that we would need drinks to be served at the scheduled start of the party. His response was to simply bail on the event stating that he thought there was a misunderstanding of the services he offered. He chose not to resolve any miscommunication or misunderstandings and come to an agreement. An extremely unprofessional way to conduct business, especially a new one.
