Great service with excellent drinks. Speakeasy-esque bar with a couple pool tables. My only gripe about this place is that it took FOREVER to order/get drinks. I guess that’s the price you have to pay for delicious drinks… Right across the street from Bottega Louie and next to Little Sister. Quite possibly one of the best old fashioned’s I’ve ever had.

Sadly, I have to take away a star(possibly 2) from my previous review. The last few times we’ve come here, it just hasn’t been the same. The crowd has been a disappointment, mostly because there are far more undesirables present than there used to be. Secondly, I went up to the bar and ordered a bartender’s choice Old Fashioned. I do this out of respect for their bartenders(see my previous review) and so that I can maybe learn something new about a rye whiskey I’ve never tried. The new, young guy behind the bar tried to make me one with Jim Beam Rye. I stopped him, laughed it off and politely asked him to choose another rye. Then he proceeded to choose another subpar option(sadly, I can’t even remember which one), so finally, I then just chose my own. I was very disappointed. I had never seen him before & don’t want to blast his name on here. But hopefully he ups his game a bit. For these reasons,(I’ve noticed a lot of new staff bartenders lately and the crowd isn’t what it used to be), I don’t look forward to coming here like I used to.

My absolute favorite bar in all of downtown LA! The drinks are strong, the venue is dark, crowded, and loud and the patio is packed! I’m a bit of a recluse so I don’t really go there to socialize or ‘get turnt!’ When I just wanna ppl watch and enjoy some damn good bourbon, 7 Grand is my jam. The menu is entensive. Even if u hate whiskey you’ll find something you’ll like. A bit on the pricey side but every drink I’ve had has been worth the money. Located on the second floor just follow the stag and you’re there!

Yummy yummy drinks! Live music was awesome(available everyday except Friday and Saturday per their schedule). A classy venue that takes you to a 20s speakeasy vibe. Really enjoyed my time here! I also like that they have pool tables!

This place is always filled with people even on a Sunday. The ambiance is very relaxed and casual. This place is perfect for anything. It’s a whiskey bar and they have a huge variety to choose from. I wasn’t a huge whiskey fan before but it’s growing onto me. Ask for their whiskey list to look at the 3 pages of different whiskey they have. This place has booth seating, pool tables, and an outdoor patio area which I like.

This is a fun place to bring your out of town friends. Great craft cocktails right in the middle of downtown with dim lighting. My friends and I ate dinner at Mas Malo(pretty good food). We decided to go upstairs to Seven Grand(they are connected for the most part). It’s not a huge space upstairs, but it wasn’t overly packed that Friday night. We ordered some drinks, the bartenders were fun and chatty. They were having a good time behind the bar, too. Drinks were good and strong. Made quickly for the most part, but definietly not thrown together like any other bar. They have an outdoor patio that’s long and narrow. People are out there smoking, sitting on the chairs. Great music – older music. They have a few pool tables inside. Some lounge seating, but not much.

Whiskey bar upstairs. Pretty large and always packed with partaay people. A whole library worth of whiskey. We came in with a $ 1 off our first drink which was only valid at the back bar. I had some orange soda and whiskey($ 10) which was REALLLY good and it went down easy. It was pre-poured whiskey shots in glasses and they just filled it up with orange soda. Wished it was a stronger but beggars can’t be choosers. Drinks, Pool tables, juke box, taxidermy as décor and outside patio?! What more can you ask for?

A fancy little whiskey bar in DTLA! Stopped by on a Friday night and it is packed from door to door. It is located on the second floor above a restaurant called Mas Malo, so don’t miss it! There’s pool tables and a balcony to smoke as well. It’s a bit too crowded, going to the bar or even through it to the bathroom is pretty much impossible. Going in, you get a $ 1 coupon off drinks which is pretty cool! There are also a lot of small couches around, so if you see one, grab it! Chill out and watch a game of pool, it definitely gets interesting. I think if it was just a little less crowded, it would have been a nice bar to chill at. Good music and vibes. There is a $ 7 parking lot right around the corner between 7th and olive that is walking distance. Super convenient.

Pretty cool spot to get your whiskey craving on, on a weekday night. Don’t come here on a weekend after like, 10 because it gets crowded! It gets no-elbow-room/walking-past-people-sideways crowded. And this isn’t a very large establishment either. Things that I like to do here weekday evenings: — Happy hour, until 8 pm daily. — Live bands on weekday nights. I think they usually start 9-ish or so. — Two pool tables — $ 1 per game. — There’s an outdoor balcony type thing right near the pool tables, which is a cool place to chill out. If you’re in the area, you should definitely check this place out!

This place is so hipster. This place is above a restaurant so you have to go upstairs when you first enter. Inside, the decoration is like animals on the wall, some pool tables right in the center of the room and it kind of looks like library decoration. Came here, and the crowd is like mid-twenties to mid-thirties. A little bit older a very diverse crowd-love it! No girls spilled drinks on me so I was happy, but beware everything-like the bar the tables everything is sticky!!! Don’t touch anything!!! Ordered a gimlet-and tasted very cucumber-y! Really yummy I’d get it again. Overall, would I recommend this place? If my friend from out of town was coming to LA I would not bring her here. It’s a little too divey for me, but that’s just my taste.

Seven Grand is a favorite DTLA whiskey bar of mine. Its a fun place with great whiskey based drinks, a good scene, decent layout, and pool tables(though when the night goes on, good luck getting length strokes in on the tables). Dimly lit. Occasional live music. An area with open windows for smoking. A backroom with another bar. $ 5 old fashioneds. Happy hour with a couple of $ 5 whiskey based drinks(though, the hh drinks here are weak based on my experiences so far). Overall, a cool fun place to enjoy whiskey with friends!

One of the coolest, busiest places to get a drink in Downtown LA! Seven Grand is known for its whiskey selection and they have some exceptionally well made craft cocktails made here. The menu even has a silhouette of the glass shape for each drink. This dimly-lit, speakeasy-like space generally has(very loud) live music and a bustling 30-something crowd with very little elbow room. I love that their weekday happy hour goes until 8pm, whereas many places in DTLA end at 6 or 7pm. I was already a fan of the 2nd/sister location in San Diego. The original in LA has the exact same layout but is a mirror image! To get here, walk through the front of Mas Malo restaurant and venture upstairs. In the back, there is an exclusive whiskey tasting room called Bar Jackalope(see my separate review) which was quite amazing for connoiseurs or those who want to learn more about the art of whiskey in a cozy, intimate experience. I recently visited and the«secret» door wasn’t there anymore, so I’m not sure if now Jackalope is just more square footage for Seven Grand now.

Nice bar in the same building as mas malo. Walked into mas malo and then saw the small staircase on the side leading to something called«seven grand». Walked up to seven grand which was a dark manly bar if you ask me. Like«hey man, meet me here for a drink and smoke.“The place is pretty small with not a lot of seating. The seating at the bar gets filled up quickly because your only other options are by the pool tables. If you sit there you make get in the way, but it’s also taken up by the people playing pool. The other seating is in a smaller area by the second bar, but hardly any seating. You could sit outside but that’s were all the smokers are. Anyway, the specialize in whiskey. Duh. So if that’s your thing, come here and enjoy!!!

Came for happy hour around 7:30 and enjoyed the happy hour menu, getting a Manhattan and a whiskey ginger. Evan Williams well whiskey could be better but for $ 5 I can really complain Fun environment and not too busy during the time we were there. I wish the drinks were a bit more varied and tasted better but again for the price it’s a fun place to start the night

This place has one of the coolest feels to it. Change of atmosphere for sure. Classy/cool vibes. Crowd was well-dressed. Kinda felt like it was a place people come by after work on weekdays, suits and all. Its more on the casual side on weekends. Service at the bar was very attentive. Jeffery the bartender was awesome. Drinks: Whiskey sour & South paw(soo refreshing) were both top knotch! They have a different type of live jazz band each night weekdays. Only complaint is that it got super hot at one point before we decided to leave. Overall a great place to have a chill night.

Almost like a hidden gem! This place is pretty awesome. We made it right on time before their drink special ended. It is lightly dimmed, perfect place to get cozy or meet up with friends(or even meet new friends). It gets a little warm inside but they do have some sort of an outdoor patio. Forgot the name of the drink I had but I love how everything off the menu is whiskey! They have their own CD/jukebox machine so of course we provided some of the tunes last night. We went way back to Guns N Roses and Fleetwood Mac. Def would come out here again.

Easy to get in, great drinks, and the music is bumpin’ bumpin’ Came on a Friday night and got in very quickly. No line and the bouncers are cool. We went straight for the bar. It’s a little more packed inside than outside, so it took a minute to get our drinks. Their Old Fashioned is really good. Smooth and made correctly. Exactly what I look for. It was a little crowded, so once we finished our drinks, we went hunting for the next bar.

My boyfriend all of a sudden likes old fashioneds, so we decided to come here. We kind of got lost coming here, but we eventually found it next to the super bright neon bar on 7th, lol. This bar is pretty cool. You really feel like a classy grown up here: deer heads on the wall, classic rock and roll music in the background, and a bunch of good whiskey. They had two pool tables, which my bf automatically went to as soon as he saw it. While he was playing, I talked to a few people. overall it was a good crowd there. Good drinks and good conversation happened that Friday night, thanks!

Seven Grand is a must if you’re a whiskey drinker such as myself. I really like the design of the bar. It reminds me of an oldschool or trendy NYC cocktail bar(kind of like Angel’s Share/Raine’s Law Room esque.) Drinks were quite good and well balanced. I tried a few classics such as their Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Rob Roy, and sampled some of the Scotch selection too. There is also a pool table in the main room as well if you’re looking to hang out. On the weekends they have live music too. Overall a great bar if you’re in DTLA. I can’t wait to come back and try their happy hour!

7 Grand is a bar with pool tables, and that’s only if you boil it down to the basics. This isn’t a place for dancing or beer drinking. This is a place where a mixologist will create the tastiest cocktails your lips will ever touch. They do have beer on tap, but 7 Grand is all about drinking distilled pleasures. It’s one of the few places you can find rye whiskey and probably the only place you can have it mixed with absinth. You don’t have to know what you want to drink… just ask the bartender for a flavor that you might be in the mood for. For example, «I want something with a strong citrus flavor», and they’ll make it on the spot. For a $ 10 drink, it is well worth it! Just watch your alcohol consumption because those tasty drinks can get you blindingly drunk fast. Everything is top shelf here, but the prices reflect the good stuff($ 8.50 for the least expensive drink on the cocktail menu). Aside from the top shelf liquor and top shelf mixologist, you get a beautiful bar accented with stag-head lamps, good music, and well-dressed people surrounding this establishment.

They have lots of whiskies here. We were able to get some standing room at the bar on a Saturday night. It was lively and full but not overly crowded. Some of their cocktails were too sweet for me, but I liked the whisky based mule. The bartenders were really efficient and nice, so they were always paying attention to us, and drinks didn’t take forever like they do at some other places. Bonus: the bar had purse/coat hooks, which I always appreciate.

I don’t even like whiskey, but they make a good old fashioned. The place is pretty small, so you’ll be squeezing by people. Vibe is great though, pretty relaxed. Te bartenders are all in fitting dress and seem to interact with customers well. There’s also a few pool/billiards tables. Also an «outside» seating area.

After a holiday party, many in the group wanted to keep the party going. Already downtown, several suggested Seven Grand. So we hobbled(those of us in very high heels) over to this spot. Upon arrival, there were several people milling about up front, but when we went to the door, we were let right in. Up the stairs we went to a bar PACKED with people on a Friday night. Pool tables, moose heads, boar heads, crowds & whiskey. Eclectic mix of music: everything from Beatles to Xmas songs. Look, its not my scene. Age range: 23 – 33. Very Loud, so you have to shout to be heard. Lines for the bathroom. No where to sit; after wearing high heels all night, last thing I wanted to do was stand. Bumped into at least 4x. But crowd was festive, singing & dancing along to songs. Also, I’m not a whiskey drinker, although several in our group had Jameson whiskey. However, very happy they had Allagash White. Because of festive crowd, we stayed much longer than expected and even squeezed in some pool. Will I be back? Nah. Did I have a good time? Yep. Best part for me? The hot dog carts out front.

I really love this bar. It has turned me into a whiskey lover. The selection is just so vast. They have whiskey’s from all over the world. If it exists, they have it. If you are a classic type that like and old fashioned or whiskey sour, I don’t think there is anywhere else in LA that makes it better. What I also like about this place is the way the bartenders prepare your drink. It just looks so refined and skillful and you don’t want to take your eyes off of the process. There is so much detail and care put into it. Pricing is also very fair, considering the location. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s also not crazy high. The ambience is very cool and they have a few pool tables and and outside patio with plenty of room and seating to have your drink. Parking is impossible, but they have valet for $ 8.

One of the best bars in LA hands down! So different and so fun. Thursday — Sunday they have live jazz bands and its so fun! I’m not a whiskey fan but this bar has made me think twice about it. I never know what to order; I get to the bar and tell the bartender what flavors I like and bam, he puts the best tasting drink in front of me. They never let me down! The environment is very trendy and different than all the bars I’ve been to. It’s a little hard to find the entrance as its upstairs some Mexican restaurant so just keep your eyes out. Try to go on a night with the live band. Your experience will be much better. But regardless, you’ll have a great time.

Before my visit here, I have only been to the Seven Grand location is San Diego. I really enjoyed that location so I figured that this location will pretty much be the same. I was quite surprised to see that this Seven Grand is located on the second floor of a large building. I expected it to be on the street level where everyone will notice it. The décor and drinks are exactly the same which is nice. I came here on a weekday so it wasn’t too crowded at all. We just ordered a drink at the bar and chilled by the pool tables. They also had a live band setting up for the night, but we didn’t stay long enough to hear what type of band they were. Overall, I really enjoyed coming here and I will definitely come back again if I want a whiskey based drink since they truly are experts here.

come in and get your body heat on! Super packed on a Friday night. Kinda have to fight your way to get a drink, so order 2! Large selection of whiskeys and a really extensive menu, but I wasn’t really in the mood to study it. Got an old fashioned and it was yummy. Not a whiskey nerd, so don’t judge. Fun old school jams playing! Pool table and patio. Pretty mixed crowd and celeb sighting(which warrants an extra star)!

Love this establishment. I’ve been to the one in San Diego several times and had an opportunity to visit this one in LA. The décor is quite similar to the one in SD but the vibe of course, is a little different. They have an outdoor area where people can light a cig. This area is more spacious than the one in SD. On a Friday night, it can get quite packed. Watch out for the people playing pool. They can accidently knock drinks out of your hands if you are not mindful of your surroundings. Drinks! Whiskey Sour is pretty and damn delicious. Recommend. Their Moscow mule is lacking though. Don’t think the guy used any bitters in it. Normally, its lace with orange peels and mixed with ginger beer but he used a lime and added club soda? Clearly the dude didn’t know this drink well. smh. Getting his attention to fix the drink is merely impossible; my friend’s first experience with that delicious concoction is ruined. :/I’ll have to make one for her later. Other than the drink fiasco, everything was pretty chill here. Great place to mingle with people if you want to have a screaming session with friends. Some dudes need to update their wardrobe. It looked like they rolled out of bed and came for a drink. Nether less, fun place to be on a Friday night.

4 stars because the gentleman who made my New York Sour knocked it out of the freakin’ park. Well done man! This is my first time to «the» 7 Grand in Los Angeles. However, I frequent the other establishment located in San Diego. They can definitely make some good quality cocktails fasho, but it’s so damn slow. Whatever, it’s worth the wait! Back to the NY Sour — I stumbled upon on this cocktail at a restaurant in La Jolla, The Hake. I couldn’t decide which drink I wanted so I described the kinds of flavors I enjoy with my whiskey. He whipped it up and it was amazing. I’ve been trying to find someone to recreate this concoction, but they’ve all failed miserably until now. 7 Grand, you’re truly a master of your craft. *no parking, it’s dt LA
