Beads expensive. Findings priced Okaaaay. $ 1 for magnetic clasp packs! Too expensive to buy their beads, but they have a few tools that are cheap. Better prices on tools at Bead Factory

Oh Shenoute. I am soooo disappointed in this store. They are the only shop open ’til 530pm on a saturday and as I travelled from the IE to DTLA fashion district at 3pm, I was consoled by the fact that at least one store will be open when I get there and I was hoping they had a good variety of supplies and friendly knowledgeable staff. When I first walked in, a girl by the door flippantly asked me if I need help. So I jumped right in and asked for some charms. I had meant necklace charms but she insisted on showing me some blinged up hello kitty pandora /bracelet charms and saying those were the only ones they had. I shrugged and walked away, finding a section of necklace charms that I had been looking for. I also saw necklace display stands, and asked a different girl if they had anymore, maybe with a different fabric that is not velvety and dusty. The same girl who gave me the pandora charms said«that’s all we have». 20 minutes later I saw a shelf I passed with more necklace display stands — in stretchy pleather and different sized stands. How strange that she told me that one style was all they had! Now, I looked at every shelf 3 times, and also to their glass and stone bead collection. They had some cute stuff, but mostly stuff I’ve seen before. Also their supplies were not the cheapest on the block. Still, I decided on my meager purchase and went over to the counter. I wasn’t sure If I would need more cash, so I handed my credit card for the $ 26.65 charge. Same girl who lacked customer service skills told me unapologetically that I had to wait because she made a mistake and charged me $ 200+ «WHAT???» bewildered, I asked how this happened, because she scanned my items and they shouldn’t be $ 200 — unless she forgot to clear the prior transactions. She said this was when she scanned my card and put in the amount in the cc terminal and had accidentally doubled the 6 in the figures. Her brilliant solution was to give me cash from the cash register. This sounded fishy to me so I argued that she should just be able to cancel the transaction. She at first called her manager, who went back to the store. They did not talk to me, however, and eventually unapologetic sales byatch decided that giving me a forced cash advance was the only resolution. I didn’t give in right away, WTF, I just put in a hefty charge on my card a week ago and i like to keep my usage low. Also, I asked her«how do I know you’re not giving me fake bills?» She said haughtily«It’s real — our customers paid them» «Yeah, but how do YOU know they paid you with real money?» She mumbles that they had a counterfeit pen somewhere. Yeah right. Where’s the pen now so I can check if the $ 100 you’re giving me is real? So it was 540pm, the day was winding down, Santee Alley was about to close and I had a long way to walk, so I finally conceded with her paying me back $ 240 with $ 20 dollar bills. I just had a big transaction semi bad deal last week so it pisses me off to have to encounter something stupid and unexpected like this that puts me at a disadvantage — due to someone else’s stupidity. And when said someone is not even apologetic about what happened, it pisses me off even more to warn people about it. To the owner of this store: please PLEASE teach your staff how to void credit card transactions. I feel like what just happened was bordering illegal.

After extensive online searches, I didn’t think I would find a place that actually sells decoden /deco den /kawaii cabochon in person. This place does! I wasn’t even trying to find any(went shopping for rhinestones actually) and was really delightfully surprised. The selection isn’t crazy but there are at least a few things, like big bows, roses, little bears, etc. This store is really big and has pretty much every bead and sparkly thing imaginable besides decoden, too. Definitely hit this one up if you’re on Maple & looking for beads or sparkly supplies!

I went in this store and the owner was very friendly. He answered all of my questions and took time to explain the beads to me. I will definitely be back to get my supplies. Also, the cashier was very friendly and made sure I knew how much each item cost. The prices are awesome.

Going on a gem mission in LA’s Fashion District can be a daunting, sensory overloading task, but Shenoute’s TOTALLYRULES! I went to every bead shop on Maple looking for the perfect rose quartz beads to string around my BFFs wedding tables and they were so patient and helpful I cant even tell you. First of all, Maria helped us for over an hour while we were waiting for opinions and approval via text message from the out-of-state bride-to-be. They pulled every viable bead off the walls and helped us compare and contrast until we found the perfect gems… They have the best selection of long strand beads at the best prices BYFAR, plus you can get hooked up with an even sweeter deal if you buy in bulk. Other stores(next door, ahem) charge you double the price for half the strand length. I call BS! The owner, Beshoy Gerges, even came out and offered up his opinion on our bead selections(given the color scheme) which was also very helpful. It was also the only store I went into today that didnt make me feel like I was getting screwed by professional negotiators.
