Fairly decent comparison to a 99 cent store, parking can be an issue since it’s in a mini mall plez. They don’t take debit cards if your amount is under $ 5.00 and it be nice if the air was working on 100+ days, nice customer service, rude customers.

My sister and I stopped by the eyebrow threading salon nearby and had some time to kill so we decided to stop by this little store. We found some decent things for cheap. I even found some car mats that were only $ 5.99(normally $ 14.99 at the car wash) which was a great score for me. The store could be better organized but they have some essentials like toilet paper, baby wipes, shampoo and soap and even some produce at the front of the store. Even though it was a Friday morning, the store was pretty packed and checkout took about 10 minutes to get through. Nothing major but just odd that it would be that packed so early. Good prices and lots of variety.

This is another 99 cents store; it’s ok. They have a great household items section. Beware, there is a little store in the back and the items sold there aren’t 99 cents!

Decent things, not everything is 99 cents and their customer service is terrible. I called once to see what time they close and the lady on the phone told me 10pm. I get there at 9 on the dot and one of their workers closes the door in my face and hysterically points at the hours on the window while I am trying to explain I called ahead for the hours… And just in general they rush you at the checkout line and aren’t very helpful when you ask questions.

Shims is a nice little one stop shop for those on a budget! The staff is very friendly, and they have a great variety of items. You can pick up anything from household items to some food items. The service is usually pretty quick as well! There’s been less than a handful of times where another line needed to be opened — which they open immediately. I’ve gotta admit, they have some gems in there! If you’re in Koreatown and on a budget, check it out!

They could open another line at crunch time but it’s a decent stop to pick up what-nots.

It says 99c but hardly anything I’ve bought there has cost me 99c, which is annoying bc the receipts doesn’t show the item scanned, and most of the offers on the signs aren’t honored(like arrowhead water, 35pk for $ 4.99, the cashier rang up the water bottles individually instead, which rang up at and total came to 5 and change… chips said 2 for 5, but that was a lie… and the tampico, 2 for 3, another lie). I have mixed feelings for this place. Looks like it might be a good store, but the employees are running it down. The items need prices, especially if not everything is 99 cents…

Liked this better when it was still a Shim’s. Not it’s a «Viva» and where did all the stuff go?! Came here pre-wedding for a last-minute run for gift bags, and they had loads!(more loads!) Now, just, empty and mehhhhhhhhh. So lame. Not even a fun«dollar» store to roam through. Cheap water though, so I guess load up on that here. Tough parking, but that goes for this entire lot.

I had only been in the store for a few minutes when a man who I assume was the owner questioned me about the reusable bag I was carrying in my hand. I tried explaining to him that it was to put all my items after I purchased them instead of a plastic bag. There was a serious language barrier because I barely understood him but he kept saying to get a cart and leave the bag at the front. I was frustrated so I told him I was leaving the store instead to which he said«Yes, okay.» No apology for losing a customer nor for the misunderstanding. In this day and age who isn’t aware of reusable bags? Won’t be going back for sure.

This 99 cents store is amazing, clean and well-kept. I just moved into the neighborhood, and have shopped for home supplies in multiple places: Target, Ikea, Kim’s Furnishings in Koreatown. Shim’s had many of the things I picked up from those stores for the same quality for WAY less. Needless to say, I despaired a bit as I walked down the aisles and saw 6 hangers for $ 1, a mop for $ 1, a dust pan for $ 1, white ceramic bowls, foil, zip lock bags, jugs of water, graters, mixing bowls, plastic trays, dishwasher detergent(NOT off-brand, either) measuring cup sets all for a fraction of the price I paid elsewhere. They also carry some produce, and canned and boxed goods, which look fine, but I would check the expiration date. I’ll be coming here if I ever need anything household-related.

Korean discount /99 cents store! =D This is a great place to pick up props and little items of interest for photo shoots. Plus, they have a yummy selection of candy. =) It also has a good selection of fruits … though, it’s not the cheapest(4 smallish bananas for $ 1). They also carry some random clothes. I got a cute shirt for $ 1. =) Oh and yes… there is a hidden random store at the back. which isn’t part of the 99cents store.

My all-time fave 99 cent store EVER. I’ve bought some microfiber cloths that sell for $ 10 at linen’s ‘n things. They also have XL ziploc bags for 99cents… quality is sufficient for storing pasta and stuff. What else? Tons more… def worth checking out for home stuff. They have great cooking utensils, rags, mini sewing kit, and more. I usually stick with utensils… Beware of the extra store in the back… it’s NOT a 99 cent store– misleading!

OMG, OMG! 99cents store under different name Shims. Who know what it means, but you really can get ANYTHING there. Sugar, tea, paper, fruit, juice, toys, done and done. You step by on the way to Ocha or from Ocha, or Boba Loca. I do not recommend parking at all, as Vermont is one of the most busiest, craziest streets! Caned fruits? Done. Coconut juice? Done. Awesome place to spend some of spare change. Tip: Check the expiration date!
