Here’s a bit of an information from a friend of a friend knows a friend who works there.(Complicated?) Alright, so a family friend knows the owner of this restaurant and according to her, this place is the«cleanest» restaurant she’s been in. And by «cleanest,» she doesn’t mean the restaurant eating space or even the somewhat loud and disorienting building signs and décor. What’s really, really clean about this restaurant is its *gasp* cooking area(yes! Impossible, right? But it’s true!). Furthermore, she stated that this place, unlike some other «sullungtang» places, get 100% of their broth from meat+bones and does not add any artificial ingredient in their soup. Some restaurants use boxed or canned broth made from China(I know. Ick.), but this restaurant is the real deal! Skeptical was I to hear such high praise(of any place!) so of course, I went to check this place out. The soup was thick and milky and they were generous with their meat(shout hooray, meat lovers). The taste is not the best and I fear it suffers a bit of depth(it may be better once salt is added to season. I just didn’t put any salt in because I feel kimchi has enough sodium). But if you like a clean taste(and I didn’t taste any msg in their food), you might like this place. Their kimchi was a bit on the sweet side and their kkakdoogi(radish) is definitely better than their regular kimchi, but I wasn’t too crazy about it, but again, that is my personal preference. FORYOUGLUTEN-FREEFOLKS! It is extremely important that you ask them not to add the noodle in the soup! I requested that they do not put noodles in my soup and even though I asked them not to give me noodles, they gave me a plate of it on the side. I didn’t touch it and I also didn’t get sick from cross-contamination! No problem! I don’t know if I was just lucky this time, but I’m just thankful to not be sick as I type this review. Go ahead and try this joint! You may be pleasantly surprised!

I been in this place once and never go back. Everything is find but the parking at the lunch time is like hell because other shops around. I’m big sul-ling-tang person myself and I tried almost every sul-lunt-tang in town that include OC. And It was the one of the worst sul-lung-tang I’ve ever had. Soup is to weak and like water with milk.

Well this place is not my favorite sullungtang place but they offer something like I do like. They have a su yook dish which I usually just order the chadol which is just the meat portion and this is for 2 people. It like gett the sullungtang separately. You get just the broth on the side and then the meat to dip in the sauce. The best part is soju is $.01 when you order this! And after its $ 5.99 i believe. Anyways we like to start here. Kinda like a clean healthy start to a night of debachery.

Clean and, most importantly, no MSG! Liked the hangover soup, but thought it wasn’t as good as the one from San(Mountain café). Next time I’ll try the plain beef sullung tang. Thought it was a little expensive for what it is~ This will be my go-to sullungtang spot from now on. :D

the sulluntang is good. it’s fatty. milky. flavorful. they give you the soysauce dipping sauce(w the jalapenos &onions) for your meat.(jinju gomtang has better sauce) theres noodles in it also. their ggakdoogi is ok. not the best.(hanbat has better.)

I ate here for lunch on a weekday and I like that they offer FREE valet in the middle of Korea Town! Yayers! The Ox Stew was delicious. Not fatty at all and very tasty with that soy sauce dipping sauce. Soooo good in this cold weather. I ate my soup with the Mung Bean Cake and ooo ooo oooo it was good. The four of us split the bill and it came out to $ 12 per person including tip. The pictures tell all.

yum! i found my new favorite sul lung tang place. i’ve been here twice now in the last two weeks. my mom was actually the one who introduced me to this place after roaming around for a while. she told me if i wanted something soupy we should try this place out cuz she really liked that it’s not as fatty and oily as han bat sulung tang — more homemade. i said why not. the first thing i noticed when entering is that the menu was pretty simple. i decided to get the traditional all meat sulung tang(vs. guts, etc). it came in a light broth. usually, i can’t have all the soup in other places because the soup itself is so fatty. here, i devoured the entire bowl. it was seriously«soul food» without the fat. if you like fat, go to another suluntang place. my mom got the hae jang gook, a spicy sulungtang which comes with more vegetables and meat and tastes like a lighter version of yoo geh jang, and it is the favored soup for curing a hangover. the second time i went there, i got the hae jang gook and the been deh dduk(mung bean pancake). oMG. the BEST mungbean pancake i ever had in ktown. It’s crispy on the outside and like jello inside. the hae jang gook was also perfect for my hangover. the best part of this place is definitely the ggak doo gi, the turnip kimchi. i took home a bunch as a side so i could have it with my food at home along with another order of hae jang gook. the kimchi is pretty tasty too, but i love the ggak doo gi most. if you like sulungtang but you also would like to try a lighter version of it, come here.

the place actually deserves 2.5 stars. the kimchee is awesome here, especially the daikon kind which is super crispy. quite possibiy the best kimchee out of the all the korean restaurants i’ve been to in la(a significant number. i love korean food). however, i’m disappointed to report that the sul lung tang(something i’m obssessed with) is a little less than average. it’s bland and watery tasting even after significantly more salt than usual for me. quality of meat was not bad tho. they also give you a free yogurt drink(yakult like but different brand. sweeter and less tangy) which was nice.

Shinchon Sul-Lung-Tang is another delicious import from Korea, like Red Mango, another one of my favorites. :) What sets this sul-lung-tang restaurant apart from the many others in KTown is that they only use natural ingredients, NOMSG! The kimchi is FANTASTIC! I seriously can’t get enough. Although it tastes similar to regular kimchi which is fermented, this type of kimchi is made fresh daily. I know because my parents also own this restaurant. :P So I’m sure I just discredited my review by admitting that I’m the owners’ daughter but seriously, I LOVE sul-lung-tang(it’s probably one of my most favorite Korean dishes) and the sul-lung-tang here is no joke! And I know I already said how much I love the kimchi here but I’m gonna say it again. It’s so friggin’ good! :) I’m contemplating having my mom send it to me FedEx overnight when the weather cools off a bit. :P Is that a bad idea? Hehe. It’s a new restaurant… just opened a couple months ago so go see for yourself. Be sure to have some kimchi for me! :)
