I had all intention of going to my old friend b day party and singing karoake, instead when I asked what room said friend was in they didn’t understand and told me there are no white people here and I’m a tall Irish guy??? Which didn’t make much sense cause this is LA but, while I had to wait for someone to come out they repeatably told me this and waited an hour for my friend when they got strange. Beware the doorman has a gun and bulletproof vest and you might have a rare reverse racist experience. Booo/Never again

I got a room at this karaōke on Halloween night. We got room number 15. Our bill was around $ 371.00 for about one hour of karaōke and food. As soon as I payed the bill, three people walked in and started cleaning the table and told us to leave because they were closing. Because I was in a rush, I left my IPhone six there. Next day, I called them around 5pm regarding my iPhone. The person who answered the phone checked with the staff and told me no one turned in the phone. 2 days later, I get a phone call from a person who went there as a customer. He said he found my phone there!!! And he went there a day later!!! A day later!!! What kind of restaurant is this? Do they even clean the carpet everyday? They should of found my phone if they did! And the service they provided was the worse ever!!!

Holy shit did we get wasted at this place… Loved it. They were super cool and left us alone(as long as we bought a bottle from them). All the controls were only in Korean so we just kinda jabbed at them and rolled with it. The center coffee table was welded steel — INDESTRUCTIBLE !! although we did our best. Ventilation was superb so smoke away! Smoke machine takes dollar bills. what more could you want?

I made a reservation last night for our party. I was greeted on the phone by a man(a Korean speaker) who merely asked for my name, phone number and how many people there were in my party. They also mentioned that on the weekends, they only have«packages» available – $ 280 for a bottle of Grey Goose, two snack plates, chasers(cranberry, orange juice and water) and karaōke till 2AM. Fine. I made the reservation and it was done. I got to Shrine Karaōke for my 9PM reservation and they led me to my room. They reminded me of their«package» deal and told me that they would bring my friends to the room. Just to help them out, I told them that all my friends are«Westerners», to which they asked, with a fear-stricken expression, if any of my friends were undercover cops. This might be because they allow indoor smoking in the rooms and allow illegal activity in their private rooms. I guess it’s not so private anymore. Oops. Before you say that I’m throwing them under the bus, allow me to share with you the reason behind my poor, and scathing, review – all personal reasons aside. It’s time to pay: $ 768.00. Great, but they were sure to tell us four times within the span of five minutes(they also cleared all of our alcohol and chasers without any word whatsoever). As with any large group, many people had cards and just to make things convenient for them(I worked in a restaurant, so I get it), we split the amount evenly among the cards after the cash we put in. Minutes later, a server tells us that THEMAXIMUMNUMBEROFCARDSTHEYACCEPTISTHREE(3) CARDS. In Korean, I kindly asked them if they can make an exception, as we were not informed of this policy(we were not told over the phone, when we arrived, nor is there a sign anywhere inside indicating this policy). They said no, as it «is not possible for their card machine to take more than three cards at the same time». Really? That’s funny. It must be a really oudated machine. I tell them that they can charge a $ 1.00 transaction fee per card(a transaction fee for each card is approximately 8 cents). They say no and tell us there is an ATM machine upstairs and in the lobby. As frustrated as I am, what can we do? I oblige and embarrassedly, inform my party of this. Many of them went upstairs and… the ATM machine is broken, so they return to the lobby ATM machine and surprise, surprise: a $ 10.00 transaction fee. Let me break it down for you. It’s not the fact that we had to pay a $ 10.00 transaction fee that infuriates me(why is a Korean karaōke place trying to be Egyptian Vegas charging that much, by the way?). It’s that WEWERENOTINFORMEDOFTHISPOLICY and I can damn well guarantee that they do this so that they can make money off of their ridiculously overpriced ATM machine. I tried to be polite, but really? What’s worse is that after we all made withdrawals from the ATM machine, the manager came along and told us that he would allow one more card transaction. Funny, I thought they just told us that there were only three card transactions allowed per room. On top of that, they charge a 20% gratuity. I wonder though, if they even even abide by the new regulation set by the IRS, that has resulted in most restaurants disallowing gratuity on large parties(source: ). So, let me break it down for you: 1) If, for some reason, you decide to come here after reading my review, even with the numerous Karaōke places in Koreatown, then please be aware that they only allow three card transactions per group and the only working ATM in the vicinity charges $ 10.00. They won’t even let you drive to get some money(even if you offer them your wallet as a security deposit). 2) They allow smoking(both cigarettes and marijuana) inside. You will be able to smell it. Maybe that’s why they asked if the«Westerners» I brought with me were undercover cops. 3) If you are looking for an alternative, I would suggest SOOPSOKKARAOKE or GAAMKARAOKE, as they have both been extremely accommodating. Just as a courtesy, I did inform the manager that I would post a review on Unilocal as soon as I got home. Promise upheld. At least we can say that for one of the parties involved.

I’ve been here few time in last year or so… This is a cool place of Korean Karaōke. As usual, they had a package of about $ 260 for 750ml bottle of liquor, side dish, some beer. The atomosphere is great and the staff is friendly… But 4 of us spend over $ 600 total for one additional bottle & tips. Better pack your wallet. We had a good time though…

This is an interesting place. It’s hard to find at first since it’s in the shopping mall building and the parking lot is non-descript. The rooms are a good size and you can get bottle service like a club($ 269 for goose). I don’t know why there are free toothbrushes and toothpaste in the restrooms but it’s a nice amenity. Some of the girls looked really young. Some of the guys that work there look more girly than me. They have baby smooth hairless skin and look like girl-boys. The karaōke machine is standard and they have plenty of English songs(albeit not updated). If you need a two-person taxi, they will call you one. It’s about $ 80 for a ride in your own car back to PV and $ 20 tip(total $ 100).

Shrine — Egyptian themed karaōke joint in Korean town. Now that’s some serious Korean Fusion! Here are some of the high’s of Shrine: *Free Parking! *Good sound and no feedback on the mics *Hilarious Korean music videos in the background *Friendly, helpful, and attentive staff *Snack and drinks were presented well. Food was good. *Free toothbrushes and tooth paste in the restrooms?!? Here is the one LOW: *Price! The initial fee of $ 260 is actually quite reasonable. This price included unlimited karaōke, choice of food/snacks, and a variety of drinks from soda, water, beer, and alcohol(i.e. Bottle of Grey Goose). It was the second bottle of Grey Goose the group ordered that was the hay maker that KO’d our wallets. $ 180 for a 1.75L of Grey Goose!!! Needless to say everyone was in shock when the bill was presented to us at the end of the night. I admit we take some blame for not asking beforehand how much an extra bottle of Grey Goose was going to cost but $ 180 is kinda ridiculous. We are in KTown and not Vegas right? On the outside chance I’ll be back to Shrine I’ll definitely keep in mind the price of any extras Shrine might offer. Maybe Shrine won’t get you on the parking but you’ll pay if you need more booze for sure.

The Shrine is great Korean karaōke place for a group outing to celebrate a special occasion, such as someone’s birthday. It is located in the«Grand Spa» building. Oddly enough, the large entrance of the Grand Spa building is located behind the building which is adjacent to their parking lot. The entrance in the front of the building is actually blocked off which is rather odd. Park your car either on the street or in their lot. I decided to park my car on the street because there was a backup of cars waiting to park their car in the lot. Then I proceeded to the basement level where Shrine is located. Once you walk through the large entrance of Grand Spa, make a left, and another left. You will see stairs leading towards the basement of Shrine. There is a front counter when you get to the basement level. Since I was meeting a party, the people at the counter graciously directed me to the correct room. My friend paid for the room so I do not know exactly how much this whole excursion costs, but from reading other reviews, it seems like a large room is about $ 40 – 50 per hour with soju and beer being reasonably priced while hard liquor is very expensive since you have to purchase bottle service for the hard liquor. I was disappointed by the lack of current English songs. Although I am not a singer by any means, as I drank more, I was motivated to at least participate with my friends. I have been to other Korean karaōke(noraebang) bars where they had more of a selection. Also, when we sang, their machines do not register how well or poorly a person sang. I love many of their amenities including toothbrushes in the bathroom so you can freshen up that breath for other extracurricular activities. They also serve delicious food here as well. It also seems as though they are open after 2am(after hours) so you can continue the party.

O.M.G. is all I have to say! As I was scrolling through my check ins, I forgot that I had gone to this late night high end karaōke spot — well so it seemed after a few drinks at 3am. There were 8 of us that were shuffled out of a dj show in the area and were looking for a place to go. I thought karaōke although I’m not sure it wasn’t on anyone elses mind. In any case, we all made it like a herd of cows after I called numerous karaōke places in the area. Shrine was the only place open really late. The cabs dropped us off at the address we yelled out from the back seat of the cab and at first it seemed like we were in the middle of no where. Aimlessly, we walked to the back of a big building and found an entrance that seemed to have 2 conspicuous asian females standing in the doorway… hmm, I thought. What kind of place is this anyways? When we actually got to the karaōke place, we were actually quite surprised at the fancy Egyptian décor. We also had a little taste of the food — we ordered unagi and it was absolutely delectable! Had so much fun here and other than the asian ladies standing in the doorway, it wasn’t creepy like some other karaōke places. ***TIP: Its tough to get a cab in the area in the odd hours of the night, so plan your way home in advance or risk wandering the streets of LA***

Karaōke spots are on every corner in Koreatown… but what makes this place special is the fact that their service and sound system is great! I’ve had many bad experiences with mics, sound and lack of promptness from the employees so this place blows all of them out of the water. Not only do you NOT have to pay for parking, their prices are reasonable/affordable. They serve the usual Korean dishes and Korean alcohol(soju and beer), I mean what else do you need when you’re singing your heart out? The place is located underneath the Grand Spa building a little east of Vermont on 6th. You walk down a brightly lit stairwell and come to the foyer of an Egyptian decorated establishment. They have plenty of rooms for all party sizes and the employees speak English! I never leave here without having fun. Other karaokes are in discreet locations and seem to be a «hidden gem» but this place is the true«hidden gem.» You won’t find any belligerent Ktown scoundrels drunk off their asses trying to start fights or hit on your boy/girl. The people who frequent this place are here to have fun and keep it classy. If you do enjoy the crazy drunkards, than maybe Bobo’s is the place for you.

If you don’t want the party to end at 2 a.m. and you haven’t finished getting your drink on, head over to Shrine. We got there a little before 3 and they seated us in a large karaōke room and served up a nice bottle of Crown Royal along with our overpriced fruit plate. The entrance is a little bit tricky. Once you find it, make sure not to trip on the stairs that take you down to a dungeon-like area resembling something out of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Then you have to knock to get in because they lock the doors after 2. If your group is like a sausagefest, the waiters will call some girls to join your party, if you’re willing to shell out for some female companionship(minus the sex). It’s a true covert, underground Koreatown experience. But make sure you’ve got plenty of cash or credit because it will cost you.

This is what a Karaōke place is supposed to be like! Seperate rooms for you and your friends where you can do your best Mariah impression and room to dance around without shame from the outside world. The place is hard to find if it’s your first time. It’s eaiser to park on the side lot where their entrance is.

shrine is one of my go to karaōke places… that is when I do have the urge to sing I suppose. It is a little hard to find, I mean it is on the basement floor of a spa. Atleast they have up to date music and great service. When you come to a korean Karaōke place that isnt so dingy… expect to pay a little more than you think.

This place is overpriced or they just ripped me off. It is clean but not worth what they charged. There are karaokes all over K town with deals.

This place can be hard to find. It’s located in the same building as Grand Spa. However, the entrance is at the east side and down the stairs. Once you’re inside, reserve a room, order some drinks/food, and start belting out some tunes. The equipment here isn’t as new as some other karaōke/noraebang places such as Bobos. Also, you don’t get a score at the end of each song. However, the sound quality is just fine, and only a few of the videos make me want to shoot myself. The catalog has a lot more Korean songs than English songs. Like most places with bottle service, the booze is pricey — stick to beer and/or soju to keep your wallets intact. The food is above average. The fried chicken wings with fries are tasty. They also have a good seafood soup; it’s not bursting with flavor, but add some lime juice and it hits the spot late at night.

I wanted to do something a little different for my bday this year and thought that renting out a karaōke room would be fun — I hadn’t been in years so I wasn’t really sure where to go or what to expect. We had a great time – Shrine really exceeded my expectations! This is a great special occasion spot and the staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the all korean labeled gadgets(none of us were Korean). The rooms are really comfortable with a great English song selection – although we were disappointed that a few fan favorites from back in the day weren’t available. However, I was surprised at some of the really new songs that were available and loved the disco lights which made the room even more festive. Drink prices were about average – $ 6 for a beer. However, just know that when I called they told us they have a full bar. That means full bottle service. So don’t plan on being able to order mixed drinks unless you want to shell out $ 200 for a bottle. Also a big plus was the button in the room that we could press whenever we needed to order more drinks! They also have a parking lot that they share with the Grand Spa which is free and has security — a big plus since street parking can be so difficult.
