I went to the fashion district to purchase suitcases that would be used to transport medical supplies to resource poor countries. My company had bought dozens of these suitcases over the past few years, paying only $ 20/​suitcase. Unfortunately, I did not have the exact name or address of the store, so I went looking for the same deal. After about an hour of searching, I found this place. This was pretty much my last chance to buy the suitcases, because my boyfriend was leaving the country for work, and I did not want to have to be in this district alone (ladies, take a man with you – just my advice). So anyway, the guy agrees to sell me 3 suitcases for $ 75. Good enough. My boyfriend goes to get the car, and I go to pay. I hand this guy $ 80. He proceeds to tell me it’s $ 83. UGH fine, taxes or whatever. So I hand him another $ 10. Thief hands me back $ 2, and I’m like, «You owe me $ 7, not $ 2. You said it was $ 83 dollars.» Of course all of a sudden his English turns to shit, and he starts rambling about that his eyesight is bad and he meant $ 88. Meanwhile it’s very clear he’s just making up these numbers. And of course he waited until my boyfriend was gone to start being a swindler. He even said, «I know your boss, this is a good price.» He does not even remotely know who my boss is. Typical scam artist in the district. I won’t be back.
