3.5 Stars. This is a place where you order sushi off a checklist like in a dimsum restaurant. There are several options for rolls, other than that there isn’t too many options for the other food they have there. The sushi was decent, it wasn’t above normal or spectacular by any means but it’s tasty enough to be called decent sushi. Since it usually takes a lot of sushi to make someone full, you are going to end up ordering at least 4 different items just for yourself, that alone already makes the price semi-hefty. This place is kind of small so it’s not good if you have a huge group of people. You would probably have to wait a very long time for them to clear up 3 tables next to each other. Service is good though, they checked up on us often.

They literally have three locations on one street which is awesome! If you’re looking for affordable sushi this is the place to go! A majority of the plates are $ 2.75. *HUGESTEAL* Blinded by the cheap price tag, I naturally ordered more than I could handle. By the second roll I was dunzo. I ended up having to to-go the rest of the rolls because of my fatass ordering way too much. Overall, I was able to satisfy by sushi craving! Make sure to get the baked salmon roll. The mayo baked with the salmon was delicious. However note that the quality of the fish is not fresh. The salmon avocado roll and the spicy tuna roll was a tad bit fishy, but I can’t complain. PS. BRINGCASH or pay $ 2 extra to use the ATM inside the restaurant :(

You ever have that sushi craving but then sushi is like $$$$ and you got a $ 20? Well this is the place to spend dat $ 20! I’ve been around since Sushi Stop opened up and when it was cheaper than $ 2.95(*current price as of today). But hey, rent is too damn high and so is the demand for the cheap stuff. I always get the Dynamite Roll, it’s just scallops and kewpie mayo on top of CA rolls but isn’t that what indulgence is? After that, I get almost all scallop items since, once again, got dat $ 20. If I got an extra five bucks, I always aim for the blue crab hand roll. Crab is always hot and fresh tasting and wrapped in soy paper. Service is always a hit and miss but at least they didn’t make me mad to leave a shitty review. Ya’ll saved this time!~~~

I mean, let’s be real, who can say no to a sushi roll that is less than $ 3? If you’re looking for a hot spot on Sawtelle, you’ve found it. SushiStop is by far one of the busiest and cheapest places you can eat at. Tip #1: Call ahead to check on the wait. It can literally be a good hour before you get a seat. If you don’t want to wait, I suggest getting take-out. But there’s also another SushiStop… or two one the same exact street like a block down with the same menu so don’t fret. Tip #2: Come with an open stomach. Because of the low price, you’ll probably want to order anything and everything. I can leave SushiStop with a $ 12 tab and still have some to take come, no joke. Tip #3: Share. Because everything is so cheap, you can literally try half the menu with a group of four. Share a few rolls and you’ll get to at least taste a wide selection of sushi there! In all, SushiStop doesn’t have the highest quality sushi, but it’s not too shabby for the price either. I would suggest it for those college budgets. But you’ll never look at those $ 10 sushi rolls the same way ever again.

Improved rating for continued value years later and solid rolls and small dishes! This place has been revamped since its opening years ago, with seating outside and a fancy interior. My favorite dishes here remain the salmon avocado roll and the chicken curry udon. The salmon avocado roll usually features a lot of avocado, and decent salmon. The chicken curry udon has a good quantity of chicken, the curry flavor is nice and not too overpowering, and the soup is very satisfying. The menu has also expanded quite a bit, with daily/seasonal specials and other options at market or reasonable prices. Overall, sushistop is a consistent solid spot for quick sushi on Sawtelle!

If you want cheap sushi, then come here. But with that said, you’re getting cheap sushi. Like, seriously cheap. I think most items are under less than $ 3. Sushi you get 2 pieces each and handrolls are something like 4 pieces? If you do come, stick to the sushi. The noodle bowls are cheap but super salty and terrible! You can tell they were sitting for a while and the noodles were almost disintegrated. It’s cheap. You can get out for pretty cheap but I’d also rather save my dollars for some sushi lunch specials down the street. :)

I will NEVER come back here! Service was terrible, and slow. They literally forgot 3 parts to my order and I was sitting there for 15 minutes at least, waiting for it. No one asked me what I needed, or if I was good. When I DID finally manage to get someone’s attention they asked the chef who said no guest/table 20 got all their food. Then they blamed it on the computer system. They cut the price of my meal in half, and then when I went to pay told me it was cash only and there was a sign outside next to the door that said so. I didn’t see one when I walked in, but after begrudgingly giving them cash I walked outside and saw a SMALL sign saying«Cash only». Super easy to miss!

The waaaait! Was about 40 minutes. It’s a really small place, bar like seating with a couple of tables outside. Everything is $ 2.95. Tea is $ 2. Service was super. Alright because the price was so cheap, I was able to try something of everything. Everything was pretty good. My favorites were the baked salmon and popcorn shrimp. Really yummy. Will definitely think of coming to this place if I’m in the area and want some sushi.

Wow! I’m impressed. I was born and raised in LA and frequented many of the Sawtelle area restaurants while growing up, but had never been to Sushi Stop until I visited LA last week! My fiancé had also never been to a Sushi Stop before. We had dinner plans later in the evening but stopped at this fast food restaurant for a quick snack. It’s very casual — you sit around a sushi chef station and place your order with a waitress. The food is very inexpensive(think $ 2.95 for a sushi roll and $ 2.95 for a generous portion of udon noodles) and is high in quality and very generous in portion! Between the two of us, we ordered: –Las Vegas Roll(Savory Eel Roll topped with spicy tuna and thinly sliced lotus root) –Tempura Udon(Japanese udon noodles with slightly battered tempura, green onions, and a slice of kamaboko fish cake) –Spicy tuna roll with avocado on top –Philly Roll(California roll with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Sliced lemon, capers, and sliced onion). My fiancé is from the Philly area so naturally he went with this one: P –Eel Avocado roll I love Sawtelle and all its restaurants — Tsujita, Fu Rai Bo, Hurry Curry of Tokyo, and Curry House, just to name a few. Sushi Stop has been added to my list and I’ll certainly visit again in the future, whenever I need a quick but delicious snack while in the area!

i had to try this place. the cheap chinese person inside me just couldn’t say no. and cheap it was! the sushi was actually ok, not bad for the price! and this is coming from a self-proclaimed sushi snob(apparently not snobby enough to not go here — guess my cheapo side won the battle this time). but what absolutely killed it for me was the terrible sushi rice. it was dry, and barely had any sushi vinegar. for this reason alone, i wouldn’t return. total fail. the salmon skin salad was easily the best dish of the night. crunchy salty salmon skin atop a bed of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, with what tasted like miso-ginger dressing. amazing deal for the price. the salmon and albacore sushi were average. dynamite mussels and dynamite roll were your standard mayo-smothered goodness, easily replicated. uni was pretty crappy. definitely not fresh. i should have known better than to order that here. the handrolls were meh. truffle oil in the salmon handroll was somewhat out of place and seemed like a desperate attempt to elevate an otherwise forgettable roll. blue crab handroll was a slightly off-putting yellow-brownish color that didn’t seem quite right, although it tasted ok… praying i don’t get food poisoning.

One of my favorite places on earth! And by earth I mean visiting my sister who attends UCLA. There’s 3 sushi stop locations within a few blocks of each other so we usually walk to each one when there is a wait. Though the prices keep rising, I believe it’s about $ 2.95 per plate of sushi, it’s still relatively cheap. Beware it is cash only. The sushi won’t blow you away but for the price, definitely hits the spot. Also, the udon and chicken teriyaki are surprisingly really tasty and filling so also something to consider.

I always consider this a decent place to order sushi when you’re on the run or only have an hour lunch break for work. The majority of items on the menu are only $ 2.95. The quality is by no means gourmet but I enjoy the food compared to other places in the area. I always order the following: Seaweed Salad — This is one of my favorite things to eat at a sushi restaurant and the one at Sushi Stop is pretty damn good. It flavored correctly and the seaweed is fresh. Miso Soup — The perfect hint of saltiness and doesn’t disappoint. Salmon Sushi — Good quality and looks fresh! The salmon sushi is clean and appetizing. It’s the perfect color too. Spicy Scallop Roll — This was nice and spicy! I don’t like California rolls typically but the hint of spiciness was a good way to end the meal. Baked Salmon Roll — I am definitely going to order this when I go back. It looked delicious. I can’t remember what I’ve ordered in the past but everything is pretty good there and the price is amazing. The total bill for my coworker and I was $ 17. I would recommend coming here if you want a quick sushi lunch. It really is just a sushi stop! Lol.

This is some pretty good sushi for the price. 2.25 for the majority of rolls is the best bang for the buck. One eel/avocado and salmon/avacado fills me right up. The ambiance is slightly loud however it’s not bothersome. This location was recently remodeled. It’s tasteful and I dig it. The reason for two stars is the fact it takes more than just good food to make one happy. I popped in tonight with a friend of mine. We were welcomed and told to wait a minute because they were cleaning a table for us. A couple walked right in and was seated before we were. After telling the waiter, he still sat them down. By the time we were seated, the couple ordered their food. When our order came the couple was done and walking out. On top of that our drinks weren’t refreshed until we were paying about to walk out. I come here often. The food is consistent and an overall value. However my night was ruined.

Gamestop logo? That was my initial reaction. This place was fairly busy when I went on the weekend(2014). It seems like a place where the locals go to in this area. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. I’ve had amazing sushi and cut rolls before and this place was pretty decent. Nothing out of the ordinary stood out for me. The service was normal and the food was normal for this type of place. There was a menu on the outside so people can kind of see what they would want before they sat down. I can see there being a wait for this place. There wasn’t one for us, but if there was… I probably wouldn’t wait more than 10 – 15 for this place. I would probably come her again an update my review to see if anything has changed… but when I went(2014) It was just alright. I think it’s a chain restaurant… if not, it certainly felt like it. Street parking only. Might have to park a bit farther during busy times. No dedicated parking lot.

Decent prices, at 2.95 for most plates of 3 – 4 pieces. I prefer the salmon avocado roll. Service is consistenly prompt and friendly. CASHONLY I’ve been here a few times and enjoyed the truffle salmon handroll along with the cilantro albacore sashimi. However, I’ve realized every time I come home from eating, my tummy doesn’t feel so well. Not in a food poisoning way, but it’s certainly not good. Probably going elsewhere for the same price.

I was craving sushi. I just got back from a business trip and wanted sushi really really really bad. I happened to be in the area so I stopped in. Parking: park in the garage with petsmart and michael’s. It’s free. BRINGCASH! ITISCASHONLY! There is an ATM machine inside that charges up the butt to use. Things are hella cheap! Is the quality the best! No. But good place to get a variety of different stuff for under $ 20. I got 3 rolls, 1 hand roll, 1 salad, and something else for $$ 20. It was delicious! There portions are perfect and can be like tapas style. If you are in the area, i would recommend. The service was fast and efficient. It does get busy so be aware!

SushiStop has been on my no-go list for years… from way back in my UCLA days; my experience was just that bad. But recently one of my trusty girlfriends raved about her last experience here. So I decided to take her here and give it another try. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with SushiStop. Quick and tasty sushi on a budget. I feel that the sushi is pretty cheap, but the bill still adds up to almost a regular sushi restaurant, unless you’re ordering filler items(like the salads, bowls, or appetizers). Ordered: — Salmon skin salad. $ 2.95 Nice crispy salmon skin. Worth getting if you like salmon skin! Good size for $ 2.95. — Miso soup. $ 1.60 Typical miso soup. — Tempura. $ 2.95 Decent tempura. The batter is soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. — Blue crab hand roll. $ 4.00 Good hand roll! Really enjoyed the soy wrapper! Nice amount of crab. I would recommend this. — Spicy scallop roll. $ 2.95 Nice kick to the roll. Tasty and flavorful. Yumm. spicy mayo! — Scallop nigiri. $ 2.95 Surprisingly really fresh. Enjoyed the melt in your mouth texture and ever so slight sweetness to the scallop. — Salmon collar. $ 2.95 Good size amount of fish. Good, slightly dry. But I love salmon! — Grilled octopus. $ 5.00 Pretty decent, I liked the pesto they used in their sauce. — one of their special nigiri. $ 2.95 I say this is a decent place to get sushi and other items like curry bowls/salmon skin salads to fill you up! Overall pretty good sushi, low prices, decent service. Maybe I’ll back for a quick sushi fix. I’ll try ordering a bowl next time.

One of my favorite sushi stop(haha) on the Westside. Most items are 2.95, you cannot beat that. My favorite is the salmon avocado roll, the salmon is tasty and fresh. They also give you a good portion so you feel pretty full after you are done eating. One star less for parking. Parking is horrendous in Sawtelle. If you are unable to find a spot in the neighboring streets, there is usually spots on Olympic blvd.
